It’s mostly a status thing anyway. The folk going will love proving just how much richer than everyone else they are. I’ve seen the prices many folk are paying for tickets, hotels etc.

Most people are going to enjoy themselves, not to show off. Of course, there is privelige involved but folk are paying high prices because they have to rather than because they want to.

  2. He played it for Scotland at least a couple of times and struggled to get up and down the park, which I think played a big part in him getting dropped from the squad for Patterson before the Euros. And that was when he was 3 years younger than he is now. I have no idea how well he's been playing this season - Wednesday were obviously terrible for half the season but then put together a brilliant finish to stay up.

Forrest's legs are gone, there's no way we can even consider taking him as a wing-back option. As an attacking option, there's at least a tiny bit of a case that wasn't there a fortnight ago, but at the end of the day he's not a fraction of the player he was a few years ago, and even then he wasn't good enough against top level opposition.

He is not even remotely close to Christie or Armstrong as a player right now, the fact he had an excellent few months for us 5 years ago doesn't change that. We also did actually beat Israel at Hampden more recently than that.

Beyond the obvious attacking options, there are only two reasons to take a player along - either they have to be able to offer us something on the park or they have to be there to gain experience for the future. Forrest is neither at this point, there are several better wingers than him in the Scottish Premiership, let along elsewhere, and he is not going to be any use to us in the next campaign.

OK, I'm going to retract this, I've seen enough in these 25 minutes to think he can do something for us.

Generally not got a problem with the set up but the final should be played as a one off game at a neutral venue, which would also save on the cost of the championship side having to install VAR for one game opposed to it already being in place at a neutral venue therefore more revenue can be split between the teams involved

There will be more revenue from two games than one though.

I don't think it's the number of game the Championship teams have to play, especially teams who finish 3rd and 4th, that's  the issue.

It's the timescale overwhich the games, particularly the final thats the problem.. For example, playing Ross County last year on the Thursday and having 2 days to recover prior to playing them again on the Sunday is just not long enough enough.

The  schedule to play the SPL team should be Tuesday (1st leg) and Sunday (2nd leg?).

Ross County had the same recovery time as you though?

11th team goes back up most seasons, this would surely (gif please) result in two up two down every year?

The teams relegated in 11th place through the play-offs have been Hibs, Thistle and Killie, and we've been the only ones who have come straight back up at the first time of asking. It took Hibs three goes and six years later Thistle are still trying to get back, having been down in League 1 for one of those years.

Leaving aside a handful of sub-optimal performances in Feb / March, Hanley's not really played for over a year.

He played 9 times between December and March and then obviously had a cameo off the bench at the weekend there. Still potentially three play-off games and two Scotland friendlies before the tournament too.

So a motley mix: many went onto international honours, some did not...

That's a pretty good hit rate I'd say. Of the 16 players who took to the field, I make it that 11 played for Scotland and Reynolds and Turner were both in several squads but never played. That only leaves Arfield (19 caps for Canada), Scott Cuthbert and Jack Ross.

  9. I have been doing some utterly pointless number crunching to look at which teams have finished in the most different league positions over the history of the Scottish League. I've classified a position as being the place in the overall league ranking - for example Dundee United will have finished 13th this season, Falkirk 23rd, Stranraer 42nd etc.

Clyde hold the record, having finished in 36 different positions across the history of the league. The only positions in the top 42 which they haven't finished in are 1st, 2nd, 27th, 33rd, 39th and 40th.

The other clubs with 30 or more different finishing places are Dumbarton (33), Queen's Park (33), Greenock Morton (32), Dundee United (31), East Fife (31), Cowdenbeath (30), Hamilton Accies (30) and Raith Rovers (30).

Motherwell have finished in every position from 1st-21st - they are the only club to have finished in all of the top 20 positions the Scottish League. Hibs and Dundee have each done 1st-19th but not 20th, Killie have done all of them except 19th and poor old Morton have done 2nd-20th but not 1st.

This season*, the sides to finish in a position for the first time were [new] Airdrieonians (16th) Inverness CT (21st), Falkirk (23rd), Cove Rangers (27th), Kelty Hearts (28th), Annan Athletic (30th), Stirling Albion (31st), Edinburgh City (32nd), Spartans (35th), East Fife (37th) and Stranraer (42nd). Airdrie, Kelty, Annan and Spartans finished in their highest ever position, Stranraer finished in their lowest ever.

[Note that Ross County could theoretically still finish 8th for the first time, but are 8 points behind Aberdeen and 7 behind Motherwell with just 3 games to go, so it's very unlikely.]

A while ago, but Lewis Morgan was in Clarke's first squad. As was Johnny Russell.

Morgan was also called up for the rainy win over San Marino at Hampden - I think it might even have been on the day of the game after Snodgrass pulled out.

Aye if you're reading someone on a social media platform maybe.

There's various websites out there where you can find the information you need from journalists who are paid well to find this information out. Where do you think these so called experts on here find out info?

Which paid journalists are writing about what Premier Sports are going to be broadcasting over the next couple of years?

The overall standard of journalism in this country is also, quite frankly shite, and you will get far more insight on here than you will from about 95% of those covering our game. Again, it's about knowing who to trust.

I don't think the SPFL were in proper and timely communication with the SFA, or whoever the individuals were who Buckie talked to. Not everyone in each organization is likely familiar with the minutiae of the new rules, especially in regards to the SPFL in how they relate to non SPFL play off contenders. The SPFL were explicit in that they warned Buckie 3 times by letter/email about the March 31st deadline, and Buckie admitted it was their fault that they missed it. I think that the SFA assumed Buckie had got their application in on time like the other potential champions, because the SPFL didn't tell them or only just realised it themselves on the day they told Buckie they were oot.

If you think all of that lack of communication between two organisations based in the same building is more likely than my clearer simpler suggestion which seems to align with all of the statements released by both parties then fair enough, I don't think I'm going to change your mind.

So in reality the clubs don't want to play more games, regardless of how many are in the league.  If there were 12 clubs they'd only want to play 11.

    It's a farce.

If the clubs who wanted to play more games took part then they'd be able to vote on it to influence that.

Hes scored 6 goals in the league, do you think he's the highest scoring midfielder?

For reference the awards are decided as such.

The ranking for each category is determined through a weighted calculation elaborated by Ernst & Young, based on statistical reporting by Stats Perform and Opta Sports and supported by data tracking provided by Netco Sports.[1]

The previous winner in the last couple of seasons have been.

22-23 Nicolo Barella who scored 6 goals.

21-22 Marcelo Brozovic a defensive midfielder who scored 2 goals.

20-21 Nicole Barella again, 3 goals

Hes a young scot thriving abroad, so let's build him up rather than try and bring him down.

    This isn't the same award.

I'm shocked anyone thinks any team in the Scottish Championship is anything other than garbage. There's virtually no quality on offer at all.

Anyhow, I turned on Barnsley v Bolton which was miles better.

You have no clue about football if you think that was a great game. The best player was a guy who can't even make the grade at Hibs, who are a solid bottom 6 Premier side.

So instead you watched a team who noted Scottish football luminaries Nicky Cadden and Luca Connell both start for?
