  1. The B teams in the Lowland League have consistently fielded different XIs depending on the needs of the senior clubs. Hearts especially, but also Celtic, promoted youth players to their first team long before they gatecrashed the Lowland League. It is absolutely no reflection on them having B teams.
  2. I wonder if booing at 2-0 down is better or worse than hounding out a manager who had led you to seven consecutive top four finishes and nine cup semi-finals?
  3. The game also doesn't absolutely have to go ahead this week either.
  4. Fraserburgh's chances dwindling after today's results, if they beat Brora they will need to absolutely smash Strathspey next weekend to have any chance.
  5. No piece of technology is ever going to be 100% perfect, there are always going to be false positives and true negatives. The cameras are not continuous, so even if you up the frame rate you are never going to be absolutely certain on anything.
  6. Sorry, I see Italy and Mexico already use it, and Spain will be joining them this summer, leaving just the 50+ leagues including the Bundesliga as being "bargain basement".
  7. I reckon the athletics would potentially end up in Birmingham, Manchester or London.
  8. I don't think Celtic avoiding another trip to Rugby Park would go down well, nor would the imbalance of home Old Firm games between Killie and St Mirren. I feel like it's a bit more likely that they end up with Killie and Hearts going to Dundee for a third time, Dundee and Rangers going to Paisley for a third time and St Mirren going to Parkhead for a third time. Home Fixtures Celtic - Hearts, Rangers, St Mirren Dundee - Celtic, Kilmarnock, Hearts Hearts - Rangers, St Mirren Kilmarnock - Celtic, Hearts Rangers - Dundee, Kilmarnock St Mirren - Dundee, Kilmarnock, Rangers
  9. Does it? England will the only country using this incredibly expensive technology in their domestic league for now. Would that make every other country in Europe "bargain basement"?
  10. If he's back training now then I don't see why he's unlikely to make Germany. There's quite a big gap between the end of Brentford's season and the start of the Euros, so missing one doesn't mean missing the other.
  11. The SFA own Hampden now and you'd expect it would take a lot of money for them to be moving games away from there.
  12. I would guess this is purely about making enquiries for the future, or maybe even for an under 21 call-up, rather than as a potential member of the Euros squad.
  13. Did you report this terrifying behaviour to the police?
  14. I'm particularly glad they've cleared up my lingering doubts about whether fast food would be available in major German cities and that Hitler salutes might not go down well.
  15. As was mentioned above, I don't think there is any incentive whatsoever for Hawkeye to get involved in a lie here, their reputation is not worth whatever the SFA pay them. Therefore, MacDonald probably was offside, but there's still no way that decision should have been made without access to the technology.
  16. I don't think that's absolutely certain. If the numbers go up I'm not convinced he'll use all the spots for extra defensive players. Taking five full-backs (even if you count Tierney as a central defender) would be overkill so I really don't see Ralston having much chance unless there are lingering doubts about Hickey. If you look at the squad for the last Euros, he had two extra attacking players (Fraser and Forrest) compared to what he's mostly been carrying in recent matches where we've had 23. I think Taylor is a nailed on certainty if it's a 26 man squad, but the other two spots might be up for grabs. My feeling is there's a good chance there would be an extra attacking player of some sort, maybe that would just be Jacob Brown, but I think it does open the door slightly for others. You can sort of do a direct like-for-like with the squad from the last tournament (I've just left any guys from the last tournament in by default, though there are probably questions about Gordon, Hanley and Cooper). Marshall - Gunn Gordon McLaughlin - Clark/Kelly O'Donnell - Hickey Patterson Robertson Taylor Hanley Tierney Cooper Hendry McKenna Gallagher - Porteous McTominay McGinn McGregor Gilmour Turnbull - Ferguson Fleck - McLean Christie Armstrong Fraser - ? Forrest - ? Dykes Adams Nisbet - Shankland Definitely you could argue that since McTominay played as a centre-back at the last one then you stick an extra one, but that would give you 7 centre-backs which seems a lot, especially when only Tierney can play another position. So I still think there's a chance that one of Souttar or Cooper gets cut (or Hanley or McKenna, but that seems less likely). Jack could be an option as something different and more defensive in the middle of the park, but he does seem to be in decline as a player now and doesn't get as much of a look in for Rangers. I think he would basically be a sentimental pick, having missed the last tournament and being a part of the squad for so long. Maybe he goes for one of the above options, but I think doing both would be a mistake. We should definitely have another attacking option. Fraser is probably ideal for it if he is up for it since he offers something different.
  17. I think he's picked him because Deas came in against Dundee at centre-back and did well, and Ndaba had been a bit out of form.
  18. There will be potential extra sponsorship income from the exposure on TV though, no idea how much that will be.
  19. It's good for him to finally get back on the scoresheet, hopefully he can put a wee run together now.
  20. Ireland women beat us in the play-offs and went to the World Cup, and have then put together a winning Nations League campaign (albeit helped by being in a lower tier). That will have made a big difference. If we hadn't bottled the last two qualifying campaigns I think our crowds would be massively higher.
