  1. I'm not going to be contrarian just cos it's Rangers doing. Very happy it's a Saturday match now. The home attendance is always way down for these games at the best of times so I reckon there will be way more people who are 'stay aways'rather than 'can't gos'. And I know a bunch of you won't like this due to the opposition but the Scottish football authorities should be helping Scottish teams with a Euro semi final next week.
  2. I realise Hibs had been absolutely shite this season and Maloney came across as a delusional nippy wee sweetie but sacking someone who probably shouldn't have been sacked and then sacking his replacement after 4 months is pure diddy club behaviour. Losing Boyle was a huge blow for Hibs and the board chose to take the money. It's no coincidence the bad run was parallel with Boyle leaving and he'll still probably finish the season as Hibs top league goal scorer. There is no one within 5 goals of him excluding Nisbet who's out for the season.
  3. Robinson's last 14 matches against Rangers and Celtic P 14 W 0 D 0 L 14 F 7 A 46 GD -39 Pts 0
  4. Probably. But to be fair the rules of football were pretty much the same for about 120 years and in the last 10 years they've changed them every two minutes.
  5. He's not even started yet. Wait till he has a summer transfer window.
  6. Saw this on BBC Europa draw page just two minutes ago. Eh.....what?
  7. Looking more and more like the attacks on Kyiv and Kharkiv are bluffs so Russia can grab Ukraine by the true balls. They are targeting real strategic targets like sea ports and power stations and of course securing the land bridge between Crimea and Donetsk/Luhansk. I still don't think the Russian aim is to completely occupy the country but more to leave a rump state with no sea access, severely reduced energy capacity, a refugee crisis and damaged infrastructure. In other words a pretty hard slap down with negotiation potential.
  8. I didn't see the fight live was just listening on the radio and of course heard all the controversy afterwards. I watched the full fight last night and like you scored it 1 pt in favour of Taylor. I thought the commentary was ridiculously biased. They had Catterall winning the first 6 rounds which was just silly since many of them were pretty close and hard to score and in those situations I think you go with the champion. Catterall won his rounds more decisively and he was definitely winning the fight going into round 9 but for me Taylor won the last four and the 1 point deduced for Catterall was huge. There was 4, maybe 5 rounds that were very close for me so it wouldn't have surprised me if judges had scored it 2 pts in favour of Catterall say but honestly I'm slightly baffled by the scale of the controversy. Taylor had a poor night and didn't look anything special at all but Catterall was gassed after 8 rounds and offered nothing going into the last four. Honestly, he kind of threw it away.
  9. Thommo's beard is a total disaster. Looks like a map of Pangaea.
  10. Well he'd have to move them from Ukraine for a start.
  11. Putin said the forces were not there to occupy the region. For what that's worth. They also went into Georgia, did what the wanted, ie carve off Abkhazia, and then left. But who knows? Personally I didn't ever think things would go this far. There are more than 2 'Russian' regions I believe. I don't think Russia could occupy western Ukraine long term without a lot of difficulty but the eastern end might go all Crimea-y.
  12. Putin will be going into Ayrshire next. Can you imagine the horror of the Battle of Irvinegrad?
  13. He's terrible. Any success at Motherwell was down to two exceptional players Louis Moult and David Turnbull and he didn't even realise Turnball was exceptional until about a year after anyone else that saw him. His eye for a player is hopeless and he plays his favourites every week regardless. The period between Moult leaving and Turnbull FINALLY getting selected was probably the most dispiriting, bleak, utterly wretched time in 40 years as a Motherwell supporter. When he's not signing his own son, he gets sub standard hoof the ball players from the English non league boondocks. Tactics straight out of 1985 English 3 Division play book. In game management is lamentable. Robinson should be paying a gratuity cheque to Stevie Craigan because without his U20s team producing so much talent (Campbell, Turnbull, Scott, Hastie etc) he'd have been sacked far earlier than he was and without top quality players in his side his own talents are quickly found out. His 3rd place finish would never have happened without the season being curtailed due to Covid (had won 2 in 10 and basically gone off a cliff from he never recovered). And while we did have good performances in the League Cup Final run, the Scottish Cup Final run was a complete fluke. Our top scorer on the run was O.G. and Aberdeen's semi final performance was the most farcical I've ever seen. I believe he's won 6 out of his last 29 in the SPFL and the state of the team he left behind him at Fir Park was shocking. He left a team almost entirely without even basic technical ability (passing? ha!) and team morale was at the bottom of a very deep pit. Maybe there will be the new manager bounce and St Mirren's tails are probably up after a good run. But long term, once his influence really starts to take hold, he's a disaster. You have been warned.
  14. Still ties up a lot of resources, infrastructure and support elements. Say, transport aircraft and general logistics issues. And most likely recon, intel and special forces were still mostly focused on Afghanistan. The Crimea annexation took place when the US had about 65,000 troops in Afghanistan. I just think if Russia wanted to invade the Ukraine they have had much better opportunities to do so since 2014.
  15. Call me a cynic but I reckon if Putin really wanted to invade Ukraine he'd have done it when the US Army was engaged in Afghanistan and not after the exact number of months they'd need to pull out, rest up, repair and re-deploy somewhere else. But, hey, what do I know?
  16. Wait, did Aberdeen just appoint a manager who's won 4 out of his last 16 league matches? A guy who has never finished Top 6? And a guy that has an eye for some of the worst strikers to every grace the Scottish game? He signed Curtis Main after two fair warnings for f**k sake!
  17. I was telling the other half tales of my youth grifting at pool tables and it occurred to me that I can't even remember the last time I saw a pool table in a bar or pub. Anyone know any in the Glasgow area as she now wants to go play pool in a boozy environment.
  18. The British one had about 12 people in it, never fought, was never considered a military asset, and would have been taken out by one burst of machine gun fire.
  19. Do I have to have a long hard look at myself for laughing at footage of a wee rich kid w**k crying when his tree house collapses?
  20. I have a soft spot for McGhee. Motherwell played our best 21st century football under him. No one was expecting that after the eyesore season previous under Malpas. Even his 2nd spell wasn't that bad until he lost the plot around Christmas. Don't really see anyone other than St Johnstone and Dundee being in the bottom two spots though so if they stay up it's probably going to be through the play offs - McInnes v McGhee maybe?
  21. Another manager will be getting sacked after the South Stand walk of shame!
  22. Aye right enough. No pulling the wool over Desp's eyes. In actual fact the other half is a Celtic supporter so I'll be leaning green on this one if only to keep her happy.
  23. Yet Celtic struggle to break down teams more than Rangers. Rangers have only failed to score once in the last 55 league matches. Celtic have failed to score 4 times this league campaign.
  24. McGregor has been howlin this season. They could sign Joe Lewis and it's an improvement.
