  1. I think Donnelly will be tremendous in the Championship. He'll get more time on the ball.
  2. To be fair, I think the 'best defender in the league' wasn't quite what he said in the interview. Wouldn't be the first time the Courier have misquoted.
  3. Think Tractor are a big thing. 80k stadium, John Toshack recently manager and obviously splashing the cash. I'm more impressed Erwin got a visa for Iran. He's one up on me there That's why I always opt for Mastercard.
  4. Took 3 points from Raith this season have you? To be fair, we do have to deal with teams raising their game against us and Raith were no different.
  5. Donnelly and Wallace are drawing a lot of criticism but the problems really stemmed elsewhere. Baird dropped deep and allowed Forfar to crowd out our midfield, meaning there was no great out ball and we resorted to trying to go long. Travis has his weaknesses but winning high balls is not one of them. McKenna may not be the answer in terms of goals and assists but he does compete better in the air and presses from the front. Our best performances this season have seen us pressing and winning possession high up the park and McKenna does embody that. I like Donnelly and there has been moments when him and Wallace have had some nice linkup play but I think our starting pairing for now should be McKenna and Wallace. The reaction to a defeat is way, way over the top. Like I say, we were a bit one-dimensional and Forfar defended well after going ahead. Despite this, we still had chances to equalise and it just didn't go our way. I overheard two people at half-time asking why we had changed a winning team. That means either; They were too daft to realise that it was the exact same team as we had against Stenny. or They were meaning we shouldn't have changed the team from the Celtic friendly and actually started with Jamieson, Swankie, TOB, Thomson and Linn on the bench.
  6. The pitch has paid the price from when we allowed Dundee/Aberdeen play development matches on it. The continuous wear and tear can take years to sort when you're doing it on a budget. I played on it at the TASC funday and a bobble totally robbed me of a goal.
  7. Will be at a wedding on the 5th May with a free bar so absolutely no chance I'm going to that match. Champions League final night will be good, got nothing to do the day after so will be able to get blitzed at night.
  8. We need a greedy striker. Some games (particularly Ayr at home) we have created chance after chance but had no one upfront with the natural goalscorer instinct (and I would include Doris in that, as good as the rest of his game is).
  9. Bobby was looking like he had lost a yard at the start of the season and so would be understandable if people thought he was on the decline. Since then it's been revealed he's been carrying an injury, rested and treated for it and come back looking much fresher and producing. Same goes for Swankie too. His performances up until Saturday had been underwhelming but if he hasn't been fully fit (not helped by a pre-season interrupted with his wedding, honeymoon etc) then we can have a bit of optimism that he'll kick on. With the likes of Linn, Doris, Swankie, Gold and McCord in our squad, we're probably witnessing the most talented group of players at Gayfield in a generation. Even the team that John Brownlie kept up in what is now the Championship didn't have this kind of technical ability.
  10. I don't think Hester has the skillset to play up front on his own so the question becomes who we play alongside him, if he starts?
  11. Come on, that's just pure revisionism. If he played like he did from March for the whole season, he would have been POTY, for the club and the League.
  12. I don't think Montrose would have had to pay as much for him. Forfar will have driven a hard bargain because we're direct competitors.
  13. I can't see a way to fit Denholm, McCord, Swanks, Doris and Linn into the same team. Are we really going to go back playing McCord and Whatley as a pairing without an anchorman behind them?
  14. Scott McBride wouldn't have been the worst signing ever. We need a left back and he's versatile too. He did mess us about though before signing for Albion Rovers.
  15. If Sheerin gets an assistant who can organise a defence, he'll do well. The frustration in his later seasons was that he never seemed to learn how to sort his defence. The quality of attacking play was excellent, worth the admission fee more often than not.
  16. I don't even know why people think this will happen. The rumour originated from a known wind-up merchant.
  17. I think we now need to accept Hammy and Little as a centre-back pairing and focus on getting a left-back in. A holding midfielder to fit in with Whatley/McCord and a left-footed winger/forward. Those 3 and a goalkeeper would be priority for me.
  18. Those were the only other 2 I could think of and I'm not even 100% Kader was from outside the box. If Kader's was just inside the box, that means only 4 goals from outside the box. 2 from open play and the other 2 taking advantage of goalkeeping howlers.
  19. A couple of us had been talking at the game about how we are very reluctant to take shots from distance. We've scored 56 goals in the league this season. I'd be surprised if we'd scored more than half a dozen from outside the box. This year I can only think of McCord's free-kicks against Montrose and Annan and Gavin Malin when the Berwick keeper swung at fresh air.
  20. Excellent giffage. Can lichtie36nilhello make an effort to stop biting?
  21. If there's outcry, ignore them. They're wrong. You pick the team you think is capable of winning the game you're playing, not the game you've just played. The easiest time to introduce players into the team is when the team is on a high and getting results.
  22. Campbell has shown with Gold and Skelly that he can turn around players that are out of form. Maybe he can do the same with Ferns. His pace is something we've been sorely lacking upfront, particularly the way Doris is playing just now.
  23. 'Penalty Box Strikers' are redundant in the modern game.
