#TT5 - The title race nobody wants to win
Lichtielegend replied to Sortmeout's topic in Scottish Championship General Chatter
Despite our lofty position, we're still outsiders. Dealing with the departure of Nouble is the most obvious problem. I actually think it'll affect our goals against column more than our goals for. Every one of our midfielders covers a ridiculous amount of ground. When Nouble gets the ball, he's very good at taking it for a wander for 15-20 seconds and winning throws, corners and free-kicks. All these things give our midfield a breather and my worry is without that outlet, we'll find ourselves overrun a bit more. However, Dick managed to find a way for us to play without Nicky Low earlier in the season, maybe he'll pull a rabbit out the bunnet for the rest of the season. -
Arbroath v ICT

We missed Nicky Low badly today. We are very good at getting the ball forward early and winning the 2nd ball but when the wind is so strong, we really need a bit more precision in our attacks. Promising introduction from Jack Hamilton, looks to offer something a bit different to Dowds and Nouble. -
Kelty Hearts Thread

I think this is a good move for Clark. He does a power of work in the middle but needs to work on his use of the ball and he'll see more of the ball with Kelty than with us. -

Very grateful if Livi let us have Nouble right up until Livi's season resumes. It would be understandable if they took him back immediately in order to protect him from injury and integrate him with their style so he can hit the ground running for them. Big couple of games for Jack Hamilton. If he works well with Nouble, it might save his Livi career for next season. -

I hope Hamilton himself would see the benefit of remaining with us for the rest of the season. He'll have offers from the Premiership at the end of it - is it worth taking the plunge now and ending up at a club fighting relegation with one of the least competent managers in the whole of the SPFL? -

I'd rather play O'Hara in Dow's position than Dow. -

Will probably come back to bite me in the arse but I'm always happy to see Ryan Dow in the opposition lineup. Especially with O'Hara on the bench. -
Arbroath v Morton - 18th December
Lichtielegend replied to vikingTON's topic in Scottish Championship General Chatter
This is maybe the first game of the season we've taken more points than our play merited. It still feels ridiculous talking about us in terms of the title but if the unthinkable happened, it's grinding out wins like this that make all the difference. -

Yeah, will be a huge loss. If you just looked at stats, you maybe wouldn't take a second look. 4 goals and 3 assists isn't much on paper. He offers us so much more than that though. So, so much. Even if he is having a bit of an off day (like today), he still occupies defenders and he'll have moments - especially when he drifts into that left channel and gets to run at people. He's also very handy being able to just take the ball into a dead end and keep it for 30 seconds. Gives the rest of the team a breather and (if we're leading) kills the game. Thistle are unfortunate that he's had 2 of his best games against them because, at his best, he's been totally unplayable. -

Fucking surreal to be honest. Going from this to top of the Championship in 6 years is madness. -

I can't see the starting XI changing this week. Livingston play St. Johnstone on the 2nd Jan so I can see Hamilton being Nouble's last game. May be Dowds last too so I just hope Nicky Low is back by then so we can push McKenna forward at the very least. -

Hearing Morton having problems in their back line, especially the right hand side makes me think this is going to be a festival of Nouble. -

We've scored 14 goals in the league since his injury. 4 have come from open play. I think that's why he'll come back as soon as he's fit. -

Dick's comments in post-match interviews rarely have any basis in reality. -

There's no like for like replacement for Little really. Centre halves are now becoming very specialised at being left-centre and right-centre. Usually they'll play on the side of their stronger foot but if they're both right footed, the better ball player will play on the left. So (after TOB) our best option maybe is Thomson to play that role. I think it will be TOB and Hammy centre-half next week with Henderson at full-back. -

I'm no Doctor but I'm sure the whole point of the concussion protocol is because if you get another knock to the head shortly after, it can be lethal, even fatal. Ricky Little looked totally out of it after that initial impact and I'm amazed we let him go back on at all. Also, the amount of times we've bullied teams physically this season, we can't complain when an opponent gives it back. The advantage we had late in the game was scuppered because McKenna lost the rag and forced the ref to stop play. -
Arbroath vs Raith Rovers
Lichtielegend replied to CALDERON's topic in Scottish Championship General Chatter
The frustrating thing is Nouble has always offered more of a threat when he peels down the left channel and his little flashes today also came down the left. So why we basically put him up against Berra to manhandle him for most of the match, beats me. No more Nouble and Donnelly upfront, please. -

It made more money in Government grants during covid than it did being open. Think it's getting totally renovated now. -

Raith are the best side I've seen us play this season - the only team that have outworked and out-thought us. They were also the only side that really dealt with Nouble and nullified his threat. However, he'll be fresh on Saturday and with Raith having a tough game tomorrow night, here's hoping he'll get a bit more joy. -

I was happy when we signed Stewart, I remembered him being their only threat in that game we put 7 past Airdrie. I like that he keeps things quite simple. Doesn't overdo stepovers or tricks, just attacks the space and does it again and again. When he gets going, not many can catch him. If he could get a bit more consistency with his final ball, I think he'd be able to step up a level. -
Very comfortable, we came out the blocks very quickly and after 20 mins we were in cruise control. Forfar had a little 5-minute spell at the start of the 2nd half where they finally got a foothold in the game and even then it ended with us scoring from a great counter attack which put it beyond doubt. Was actually surprised at the lack of physicality in the Forfar side. Some of the players quite frankly didn't look fit enough to be footballers, in particular Crossan and Hussain. It is no surprise Scott Stewart had an absolutely field day down our right. That lack of sharpness just meant that the players were getting overwhelmed. I'm actually glad for Forfar's sake that Livi didn't let us play Nouble - Steven Anderson would have retired at full-time.
