  1. I suspect Edinburgh City fans would like to see around Fir Park than go to another pub as they can do that any time anywhere.
  2. He should be 4th choice if the other 3 strikers are fit and better than him. Right now I would say based on pre season Main has been no better. I keep reading that the gaffer still wants to bring in another Striker but not sure if that is based on anyone leaving ? Tanner still has a couple of months I believe before he could be considered for a start. 5 figures means SFA to us and Bowman is worth more to us as an option even from the bench. I would gladly keep him for the season and let him go at the end of his contract than take a derisory sum.
  3. Would expect you to be housed in a wing of the main stand. Usually the left hand side for away fans. The Cooper stand bar is open before games and away fans are welcome and mix freely with home fans. Usually only Dundee and a Killie fans that get carried away and a bit exciteable. Depending on how many of you there are that would be the best bet and a couple of minutes walk to the main stand. If there are 30+ of you you could try Jack Daniels - ok pub and not far from the ground. Decent result yesterday for you guys - after all the Clyde fans believing they were going to win the cup let alone the group :-) I was hoping for an away tie for this game as your ground is geographically closest football ground to me. That and as I was travelling last year so missed that game.
  4. And it was very much onside ! Great pass through and should have been another goal. Was directly in line and from the balcony with an elevated view it was a case for VAR as perfectly, good goal. Decent work out and good away support for a Sunday in Darlington. I was impressed with Gorrin. Clear to see he is a cultured footballer but tough to judge anyone on that game as the opposition was akin to our 2nd division and / or unfit plus two of their better players were I believe at a wedding. Taylor Sinclair did get skinned on the line and was even more worrying is his starting postition was in front of the player. Only 1 game however and fitness is more important ahead of the Betfred cup games. Final word on the away kit - really liked the look of it and the one I will go for. Big Cedric just looked like a model with his on. Big handsome bugger that he is. Good to see him back in a Well top as I suspect it won’t be for long.
  5. A cheap option being the problem. To Motherwell we have a player on our books who we rightly feel is valued at quite a bit more than Celtic bid. Otherwise we would have sold him. The problem I have is the affect it has on said player. Thankfully Carson has his head screwed on and did not let it affect him. Other players might have thrown their toys out the pram. Marvin Johnson springs to mind. You are right in that anything in the world is only worth what someone is willing to pay. Let’s see if Carson is sold and how much we get for him. If he stays with Motherwell or we accept £350k then I accept you and Gannonball are correct more so than me. But is he is sold and at a value way above what Celtic bid then it goes to prove they were at it with their derisory bid.
  6. That is good business. But if I offer £20k for a brand new Ferrari and expect £10k for a 3 year old Mondeo people would rightly think I was at it. Celtic are often guilty of this. Carson may have played for lower leagues, but it was clear to all that he was a much better keeper than £300k and by the way that was the 2nd bid iirc. Now he is 1st choice International keeper. Good luck to Celtic but a bit more realism around the value of players they are chasing. Strangely had little problem paying £9m for Edouard - nothing to do with the fact it was PSG they were dealing with....nothing
  7. Kudos to Celtic. How the f**k do they do it Offload players for many millions and offer hee haw for players up here. Hibs should brace themselves for a bid of £325k for McGinn with a further £100k if he plays 10,000games. Not that I am bitter but still pmsl at the £325k bid for Carson. Almost as if they were affronted we turned them down. Fkin conmen.
  8. I wish Petravicius all the best. I always expected and hoped he would come good. I did think he had pace and you never know a different club may well see a different player. I wish him well at Falkirk. Pleased with ATS signing. Liked him when he was at Thistle. I think the additions are very much strengthening the squad in general which is what Robinson was and is setting out to do. Sponsor announced and strips soon. All s WELL in the world.
  9. Since our CEO has just become a father for the 1st time may explain why his thoughts were elsewhere. Good news and good luck to them both. That siad he really ought to get his priorities in order ! Strip reveal and midfielder announced......honestly.
  10. If it turns out to be a Kipre style signing then great but talk of injury / under 20's worries me. All that said it is the market we are in. Young players relatively unproven but with potential or older players who are playing at a level below where our Manager and scouts believe they could and should be. Anything outside that is pretty much 99% out with our reach financially as the situation with O'Halloran and possibly Ciftci ably proves.
  11. Very much doubt he would be the 99.9% midfielder. That sounded to me like a permanent signing. Taking O'Halloran on loan for 2 months may prove useful but what is the point. This is a key role and I would rather entrust it with someone that will be with us all season. O'Halloran reminds me of Samson. He clearly has had at least one if not more opportunities to join us and has chosen not too. Money no doubt has been the main factor and I cannot argue with that. Hopefully we will find out soon enough who the mystery man is and also see our LONG awaited new strips.
  12. Not really..everyone knows that the turning your back to the play and bouncing a la Celtic came from Lech Poznan if I recall. The actual clapping along with the chant HuH - was started by the Bois. The synchronised clapping may have been around before but the Icelandic version came straight from Motherwell. Hence why we are mentioned in the video and countless other news articles on the subject. I miss European football but god knows why. The draws are genuinely crap such as sending you lot to deepest Turkey and us to Krasnodar on the Black Sea. I remember with that last draw there were 32 or so potential opponents inc Estoril in Portugal or Brugge or Eindhoven etc etc. Only 3 of the draws did I say I would not or could not go to and yup sure as shit out comes one of the three ! My favourite trip was probably Nancy for the 2500 we took and the gap from last game. But Panathanikos was also a great trip. Pop up to see you Acropolis before the game as you do..
  13. Jealousy will get u nowhere now. It might have been going on for a while but the Well Bois took inspiration from the film 300 with Gerard Butler. Stjarnan took it back to Iceland after playing us. Then the National fans adopted it. So as you say the Iceland thunderclap has its origins in the Shire.
  14. £100k for Kamberi or £50k for Murray.........tough choice that one - NOT. Kamberi is a steal if it is only 100k
  15. Now that you put it like that I am all up for it. It is amazing the impact a different perspective makes sometimes. Wonder how much Kamberi will cost Hibs ? I assume he is still under contract at his current club ?
  16. What worries me (to get back to football) is that when you guys sign Kamberi that will free up Murray - yikes........ Murray seemed to do well in championship, but unless I am mistaken he has looked bang average in top league for both Hibs and Dundee ?
  17. I dare say after the season we have had income wise - 2 cup finals, 30% increase in attendances (due in part to 2 extra games v old firm than previous season) and £1m plus in transfer fees (although 60% goes to 2 former owners until combined £1 - £1.5m is paid back) - means we could pay a six figure sum. Chances are we won’t unless we felt we could sell him on for many multiples of that. Last year we paid the princely sum of £10,000 for Carson. What a bargain that was..... What age is MOH ? He may yet have a chance to move down south if he has a decent season or 2 in top flight in Scotland. He clearly has an affinity with you boys in any case as was proved last summer.
  18. Those were good times....well the last 2 games of the season in any case. Strangely more of a high for me than last season even reaching the Cup Final. I see the rumour it is a straight fight between us and St Johnstone for MOH. Assuming he leaves Rangers. Firstly that would take Rangers giving him a decent pay off for remaining 2 years of his contract. Still not sure that will actually happen. Surely Gerrard would want to see him 1st hand. I suspect a loan more likely in which case he will no doubt opt for Perth as he did over us same time last season. As much as he has had an indifferent season I also would expect some clubs from down south to be interested. Still waiting for some signing news ? Flow hoped to get one or two over the line this week. Probably been gazumped again by a team in the Conference or league 2. Plus when is the £5m transfer for Carson going to materialise. Well £5m if he was playing in Championship. No doubt any bidding will start at £300k. I think a realistic value is £1m. It all comes down to whether there is more demand from several sources or not. Of all the players we have he will be the most difficult to replace like for like if it’s happens. I would love him to stay but he has behaved impeccably since we turned down the usual (insulting) offer from Celtic. He deserves a big money move.
  19. That is as maybe - but if he joins us he is guaranteed cup finals :-) Just kidding.. He clearly has an affinity with the Perth saints but maybe he wants to try something different. Truth is he still has 2 years left on his contract and unless he gets a decent pay off will be going nowhere - maybe out on loan yet again. I would imagine there will also be other clubs down south - even in the top flight up here that could offer him better wages - Hearts & Aberdeen for example. Would like him at Motherwell but reckon it is probably a long shot all things mentioned above..
  20. Thanks for pointing it out. I shall find the correct post and marvel at all our goal scorers. Dougie still my fave but if Main scores the winning goal on Saturday
  21. What about Skippy and Dougie Arnott. They both must be above 25 goals ?
  22. Don’t worry once their derisory offer of £400k + add ons is received you can start dealing with clubs down south that are prepared to pay the going rate. Of course if McGinn was based in France and called Pierre McGinn the offer would be £3m+
  23. To be fair he is all over most threads not just Motherwell. The one common theme however is he generally picks arguments and starts the swearing and name calling in all of them. 8am on a Sunday morning and he is already calling someone a effing clown. As has been pointed out clearly outside of Pie and Bovril he has no life, which is as others have pointed out quite sad. Best not to engage or put on ignore.. Back to Motherwell - delighted for Trevor. Only because of him I watched the match. Not sure he could do much for their goal. But made one or two good saves and looked quite assured as usual for balls into the box. Hope he kicks on from here.
  24. The constant stream of negative pish is draining though and so so predictable I would rather play Aberdeen. If we lose it won’t perhaps have the same feeling as missing out against Killie regardless their current form. So we have nothing to lose and our chances are a lot better than if we had drawn Celtic or Rangers.
