  1. If he does sign for Celtic then they are still getting one of the best young players in recent years. We are still getting a club record fee and potential future earnings from 15% sell on fee. Maybe they are paying over the odds a little, but based on fees paid down south and if he does fulfil his potential then it will be a good deal for Celtic based either on whether he plays half a dozen seasons plus and / or is sold for multiples of £3m Would rather not see him play against us but would also rather we moved on and could focus on strengthening our squad for a tough season ahead. Especially since we need strikers who can score goals.
  2. All very well and good if we get similar money from A N other club. Our preference would always be for him NOT to play against us, but £3.25m + £0.25 add ons + 15% sell on is a good deal. If he went south and for say £2.5m that would not be good for Motherwell FC Celtic will not wait and in fact their fans will already be turning on the lad. How dare he not want to sign for the Bhoys. Christ knows what is going on.....
  3. Clarke will prove to be a v good manager However I am afraid he nearly fked up with Brophy up front. Nepotism at its finest. Burke comes on and shows in matter of minutes why he should have started ahead of Brophy. Still we won and 3 points is what matters
  4. He is not the messiah he is just a very naughty boy. Turnbull would have at least had a shot at goal by now. ThT will do however
  5. We have the square root of feck all up front. Get the ball wide to Fraser and Forrest but no bugger in the middle apart from Eamonn bleeding Brophy......
  6. Stunned right enough. I hope Burnley or Southampton pip him from Celtic to watch the seethe among their fans. Glorious.
  7. I know I wear claret and amber tinted specs, but what grates with me is that if Turnbull did what he did with us for Celtic, they would be demanding £8m plus. If anything the fact he was top goal scorer in 2019 as 19 yr old midfielder playing for unfashionable and lowly Motherwell should put a healthy premium. No less than £4m plus add ons or fkin do one. I know the club would not want this, but let him stay for next season and if he continue like this season we will hit the motherload.
  8. And I thought this would be a good game.... Jee whizz this is murder. Almost pleasing that for all the money and all the hype this is probably worse than a run of the mill SPFL Hamilton v St Mirren game.
  9. And so it begins............. Daily Mail reporting incoming bid of £1.2m from Celtic with Brighton reportedly interested. Where they get the figure from who knows. What I do know is that at less than £2m he will be going nowhere. Sadly I think he will be off this summer as someone will quite possibly meet our expectations with a sizeable sell on fee + possibly loaning him abck to us if it is a club down south...
  10. I believe he is more than likely to be off, which whilst a shame is probably what he needs. I assume wherever he goes we would be entitled to compensation. He may end up staying but the odds are looking Long on that happening.
  11. Same thing happened to us last season. 3 games v Celtic in a week FFS. Inc League cup final defeat. Sucked the life out of us for a couple of months. This season has to be defeat to Ross C in the Sc cup. Not because it was Ross C but because it was the cup. BIG fan of Robinson but he made a mess of team selection that day. Playing an obviously unfit Ross McCormack did not help one bit.
  12. Imagine missing 4 out of 4 penalties. At least their will b a tayside derby next year.
  13. Welcome Casper. Great name so does not really matter if it works out. We have a Casper in our squad. He will ghost in and out of the side. As for European football. Miss it big time. But it can be a damp squib. Remember the time we had a potential 32 opponents and I could manage all but 3 one of those being Krasnodar. FFS. I mean we had Brugge, Feyenoord, Estoril, and umpteen accessible games. I managed along to Mypa 47 (my 1st), Nancy, Odense, Bucharest, Llanelli, Athens, + Reykjavik Briedlablik) Nancy I could write a book about. Maddest Air, Road and Ferry trip ever. Athens I remember because if I have a pint I need a jimmy riddle after an hour. I must have drunk 10 pints and never went to toilet. hot as f*ck.....
  14. Re your comments on Edouard. If our transfer fees were based on salary paid then none of our players would be worth more than a few hundred thousand. I was not saying we should price Turnbull at same as Edouard but I am saying legitimately that in many ways he ought to be as valuable. One is a striker playing for the best team and another is a midfielder who was possibly expected to chip in with a few goals but has scored the same and probably in less games. I know we will never get the inflated fees that they get in England. I also know the club are probably not in a position to turn down a respectable offer. Hopefully though they are in a position to ensure we get a decent fee. If that means waiting until Xmas then so be it. As for the club touting him and talking up his value. Marketing ploys maybe, but I expect that it is the plaudits coming from pundits and awards and praise from journalists that will have other clubs sit up and take notice down south. Sadly I expect him to be offski towards very end of the next transfer window especially if he’s starts next season the way he finished this one. Ideal scenarios would be a team from down south in top flight buys him and loans him back for a season.
  15. A couple of million - get tae f*ck. McKenna is worth £5m + A player today went for £13m from Bristol City to Bournemouth. He was in England under 21 squad. The facts are if Turnbull was at Blackburn or say Middlesborough he would be being touted at £5m+ easy. He is level on goals as Edouard FFS. A striker that plays with the best team in the league and cost circa £8m A player is worth only what people are prepared to pay but Turnbull is easily worth £3m+ in today’s inflated market. Anything less and NO Thanks. Would rather him see out his contract and please the Well fans.
  16. As above. Tom has done a solid job for us last couple of seasons. Would love to see home stay but with our salary range never going to happen. Was surprised to hear Maurice Ross on the podcast say we had the 2nd lowest wage budget in the top flight. I would have thought and still do think it would have been higher than Livi, St Mirren and Hamilton. Maybe with bonuses etc thrown in. Good luck wherever he goes but strong rumours it is Australia with Brisbane roar where Robbie Fowler is in charge.
  17. Fane is in the bag so to speak. Wonder if he will be any good. Know very little about him tbh. As for Gorrin - yet another example to cite to players when wondering whether to join us of the opportunities available to them with a bigger exposure than lower leagues down south. Disappointed he is away if true, but again anyone who does well for us will either be sold for a transfer fee, leave on a development fee or not re-sign and get a more lucrative offer elsewhere.
  18. I fully expect Celtic to come along with their usual offer of £129,231 Q their fans mock outrage when we suggest we are looking for more. All the while expecting offers of £21m for Hayes I desperately hope we hold on to him for next season. Would be gutted if he left before then. He is still learning and developing, but even if he is able to raise his game another 20%...... If he went in the summer it would be for circa £1m +. If we can get him to keep his forward momentum into next season then I would expect him to eventually break our transfer record.
  19. I don’t blame Hastie for making this move at all. I wish it was not to Sevco, but they are prepared to offer him wages of a multiple of 6/7/8 times what he is on with us. The point being that if we are querying whether he will make a significant impact on the game then you cannot blame the lad taking the money on offer and a 3 year deal. He could stay with us, not kick on and never get the opportunity to earn that kind of money again. Good luck to him but I would have him on the bench at best over remaining games.
  20. On the latest release from Alan Burrows. I like many was perplexed why we had not offered Hastie a longer term contract. Thankfully he has explained the reasoning. I recall being dismayed when Jamie Murphy left the club for a pittance only for Sheffield Utd to benefit from a sizeable transfer fee. I think we had a sell on clause but it makes more sense reading the press article around Hastie. What is encouraging is the seemingly endless conveyor belt of talent coming through the ranks at Motherwell. Not many going for huge sums but if get a combined £800k for McKinstry and Hastie that is good business. Admittedly Hastie could go for many multiples of that were he to move on to Rangers or elsewhere. I am more pleased we have Turnbull on a deal to 2021. Fingers crossed he will break our record transfer fee of £1.75m. Anyone looking to buy him in the summer should be quoted £2m or no thanks. Kent is a good player but if he is being quoted at £10m then that is minimum we should be expecting for Turnbull. Pleased with 2 signings so far. Polworth seems to be a bit like Tanner. And assuming Tanner is away he would be a more than decent replacement and at 24 as well.
  21. Is it just me that notices the omission of Jake Hastie in the pages referring to young talent coming through. Especially as they include James Scott and Barry Maguire. Are they hedging their bets or as as expected it known he is offski. At this rate we may have an outcome on Brexit before we hear about Hastie.
  22. It looks as if you will be going down. Shame really. You have more going for you than Livi and Hamilton. A grass pitch to start with. A respectable and decent fan base. Lets hope you get into the play offs and keep United in the championship. Fingers crossed.
  23. Like most players Main splits opinion. Because of his reasonably prolific start with us and helping us to get over the loss of Moult. Plus his goal in the cup semi-final, he had built up a lot of goodwill in my eyes and others. He does a power of work and is a nuisance for defenders. BUT He was signed as a striker and in the Main (excuse the pun) they are there to score goals. He has done very little of that this season despite having numerous opportunities. We may end up replacing him with an inferior version but I think it is time for him to move on. Pleased he was here for the most part, but not overly concerned if he goes is how I would sum it up. Would want to keep Cadden, Hastie, Frear, Aldred and Gorrin. But I suspect the only two we may have a chance of keeping are Cadden and Frear. With Cadden we ought to be due a fair chunk of compensation which would not be far of his actual and realistic transfer value and that may well deter suitors.
  24. Me too. Also seeing Rumours that Shinnie is going to sign pre contract also. Money talks....
