  1. If we win v Livi I am all for giving him the opportunity to get the window and bring in a couple of players and then reset. Ketts did a very decent job for us last season. Even started this season well. Plus I feel he is playing with hands tied behind his back with a much reduced budget. I think he has been given time and in many of the recent games the efforts of the players in scoring all those last gasp goals shows they have not given up playing for him. His remit is now to avoid relegation and possibly was that given the paltry funds available to him. All that said a defeat on Saturday and the game should be over. He will possibly get the Hibs game as it is so close but anything less than 3 points and that should be that.
  2. If you could sort out a draw tonight that would be most agreeable. Yours Sincerely Motherwell FC . PS - throw in a couple of Livi red cards to their best players whilst you are at it….
  3. Will probably make f**k all difference but the establishment clubs need to be looked after. Only fair after all. Edit to add. Ross County games all being postponed to allow Uncle Roy to spend his millions in the transfer window in time for the rescheduled games
  4. Common sense prevails. Who would have thought it. Good decision.
  5. So all roads north to Aberdeen are currently closed. What the actual f**k. How is this game still on ? Are the Motherwell team already in Aberdeen area ?
  6. We can only hope. An extra few days rest before our 6 pointer v Livi would be most welcome. Sadly we don't get such luck and the game will go ahead in the pouring rain and driving wind. We will ably defend our box until such time as we stop. Which happens numerous times per game and the opposition always seem to score. It would be pleasantly surprising if we make a mess in defence and the opposing team don't score. Anyways Zero expectations of any points tonight. Almost more interested in the Livi v St Johnstone game. Thinking a draw would be the best outcome in that game .
  7. It is becoming increasingly difficult to disagree with this viewpoint. I have said before I want Kettlewell to succeed because he seems like a decent chap, he clearly has had success before and more than all of that I would rather we were not in the market for yet another Manager ! All that said failure to win any of the next 3 games or garner 3 points and he should be gone and I do believe he will be. I just wish we had the wherewithal to get KVV back. Him and Biereth up front . I suspect the reality is that Aberdeen or Hearts cash in on Miovski or Shankland respectively and then spend £1m on Kev with a surplus of £2m or thereabouts. Hearts would hate to lose Shankland but signing the big mad Dutchman would probably be as close as they could get to an acceptable replacement. That would hurt and probably will
  8. Meanwhile our defence is usually good for a goal with every 2nd shot on target. Soft as mince
  9. Just seen the two goals. By Christ poor goals to concede. Do the Motherwell defence genuinely think it is OK to stand and watch the Rangers players play football around them. That second goal - C*ntwell has all the time and space to get his shot away inside our own fucking box ! Awful. If anything sums up our season it is that goal. No other team inc Livi will give away a goal that limply
  10. If we lose to Livi and go bottom of the league. He should be sacked. That would make it 17 games without a win. That is clearly for too long a run to be acceptable to anybody. A draw v Livi and he will no doubt stay. As long as Livi are (comfortably) below us he is probably safe in the job. Then we can try and focus on getting 10th place. We would all take that right now.
  11. It will be a New Year’s Eve sacking methinks. I genuinely think on current form Livi will beat us.
  12. The crowd v the Old firm is always lower. Tomorrow will see 3000 home fans if u r lucky. It is a shit time of year for football. Out of the 10 or so that are in our group only half are going to the game. I head north to my Mums every Xmas eve. Tomorrow will be no different . Expect us to compete well enough but the usual rules apply. We will gift a goal or two from rank amateur defending. We will miss a few chances. Failing that the masons in the black will give them a penalty for f**k all whilst denying us one for a Rangers defender decapitating One of our forwards. Or a similar story but with the same outcome .
  13. Livi defending well but the build up from Celtic is painfully slow. Going down the same wing every time to Palma. What’s happened to Maeda. He literally has given the ball away or miscontrolled the ball every time he has had it. You think Celtic will make the breakthrough at some point but if it is a rerun of the 1st half in terms of tactics and personnel then a draw or sneaky win is not out of the question for Livi. Not that I want that of course .
  14. Agreed. I have said it before and will say it again. I admire the fact that during this poorish run, especially early on he never really mentioned the fact his budget was slashed or that previous Managers had more money and players at their disposal. It has come to the surface recently, but that is primarily because of the recent comments from the Chairman and questions from the media. So fair play to him
  15. Nah. Just think the guys a bit of a dick ! I happily will stand corrected when there is a new European League as he clearly stated there will be.
  16. I saw Dave Cormacks statement. He really does love the limelight and the sound of his own voice. There may be a new European League but so far Bayern Munich and Man Utd have said NAH. So maybe the bold Dave is talking shite again….. Even if UEFA change the current competitions to adapt to a more league like structure and more games. It will still run alongside domestic leagues. There is probably a 50/50 split in terms of supporters in Euro league for top 2,3,4 teams v the rest. I just would not be interested in anything that gives the bigger clubs more money. UEFA competitions are already highly stacked v the smaller clubs with seedings and fall back options for bigger clubs dropping down competitions even when they lose. Another step towards an even more elite club like that and there would be a huge backlash. Even more than there was before when this Super League was first suggested.
  17. I suggested that figure a couple of pages back. Dezz has eloquently explained why I came to that very figure and the rationale behind it .
  18. Apparently so. Key takeaway…..”fans should not be worried. Business as usual. Jim and Derek leave the club in a STABLE position”. Hopefully so….
  19. Well I would definitely do that . Busta is most probably correct. We have been fan owned for 7 odd years. More than enough time for some random wealthy dude (or dudess) to want to throw money at us for no apparent reason. I always thought we were quite a cool club. Cool name . Cool colours. All the more reasons to throw money at us………and then I wake up.
  20. Don’t disagree. But my point is simply any serious investor would want majority control. Or should do. I would. Nobody comes along and says I am prepared to invest say £20m in Motherwell FC and I am happy with the Well Society calling the shots or having more voting rights. I certainly would not want an investment that carried huge risks to the future of the club or someone offering money with a view to getting every penny back. If it is a case that they are only proposals for increased investment then that is also disappointing. Unless of course this whole media announcement is to make it clear that we are open to serious discussions and to notify any interested parties. But then which football club is not open to investment etc. St Johnstone are up for sale. Livingston appeared to have been sold but that is now in the hands of the law courts it would appear. Perhaps no surprise these 3 clubs are near the bottom of the league.
  21. Anyone individual or business looking to invest heavily in Motherwell FC would rightly question the need for fan ownership / involvement ? If I was investing a serious amount of money I would want to be the majority owner. Not the Well Society. Which was set up because of the lack of any viable alternatives. If someone responsible was to come along and say the Well Society is no longer required or to be watered down in exchange for our future then I would be open to that as would most fans I suspect. I worry like above if as part of this cash injection we sell the stadium and lease it back etc. We already have the Gov loan which if I recall we took up the most amount of any club. No doubt to help with pitch and stadium improvements etc. But that needs paid back at circa £150k per annum. I would loved to be proved wrong, but I suspect any serious injection of cash ( if that is even going to happen) will indeed come with terms that are unpalatable to many. Time will tell…..
  22. The Saudis must be pissed off now that they invested in Newcastle. Reading between the lines we need more money than we can generate each season just to tread water. We have seen this season what happens when you reduce the budget fairly substantially. The million $ question is why anyone who is not a fan would want to throw money at Motherwell FC. That said the boy at Dundee United has done just that. Look where it has got him / them. It does seem that this was the plan all along and it probably has come out sooner due to pressure from fans and media etc. All that said McMahon has been on the board for over 20 years. He must be in his 70’s or thereabouts. His time has probably come to a natural end. I can imagine he wants to enjoy his life a little more without the pressure of being MFC Chairman.
  23. Absolutely this ^^. Just reading some of the comments on Twitter. Good riddance etc . It is a thankless task. Whether you think they have done a good job or not. They have put a lot of effort, energy, time and no doubt money into the club. Interesting comments about the final stages of a fund raising initiative. Does that suggest we have found funds or that we are laying out the strategy to get some ??
  24. I said at the time if he just shoots straight at goal hard and low it probably ends up in the back of the net. The goalie coming out maybe made up his mind to try and find the corner. I think you are being harsh on Bair. It is at a difficult angle - he did shoot low and fairly hard. To me the goalkeeper makes a good save. I don’t disagree however that a better player may hit the back of the net or even goes around the goalie and rolls it into an empty net. Somebody mentioned that Wilkinson probably scores with those chances. We will never know but I suspect there is an element of truth in that viewpoint.
