Same with Joy Division Unknown Pleasures and Pink Floyd DSOTM t-shirts.

More to do with the iconic designs I suspect.

    Joy Division Oven Gloves anyone?

Also perhaps it's blindingly obvious but in this "Questionable Attire" thread no-one has mentioned wearing The Cheeks branded clothing

Boxing Day 1990: we arrive in Aberdeen early for the evening kick off against St Mirren (1-0 Dons; Jess).

We are invited into the stadium and given an impromptu tour (dressing rooms; boot room; boardroom; pitch) by none other than Teddy Scott, who takes time out of his day to tell us a few stories about the club.

Today: I awake in Aberdeen after a reasonably boozy night out at the King Creosote gig. I decide a bit of sea air will be just what I need and head for a walk around Footdee and the Esplanade.

Upon seeing Pittodrie I realise I haven’t yet seen the Fergie statue in-person, so I head over and take a few snaps before making my way around the ground and back towards town via Merkland Road.

As I’m making my way up towards King Street I’m approached by somebody in high-vis, who doesn’t identify themself to me, but proceeds to challenge me about why I’m taking photos of the stadium on the day of an event. One of the offending photos is added here.

I tell them that I’m on a public road, not on their land, and I can do what I like with my camera. I’m unapologetic to them about my sordid stadia photo habit. It’s niche, but it makes me happy and harms nobody.

We part. They look pissed off at my leaving remark “so is this the friendly welcome I’m to expect in Aberdeen now”.

They follow me up towards King Street. I hear them say in their radio that they’ve taken my photo and they’re escorting me off their site.

Shortly after a police car passes me and the occupants seem to take an interest in me but continue on their way, presumably aiming to catch a criminal instead of harassing a slightly hungover man entirely minding his own business.

I’m not sure I can articulate better than these two incidents at Pittodrie exactly how much I see top-end football as having changed and lost its way since the 90s.

I had been tentatively considering hanging about in Aberdeen for the Motherwell game, but that is quite clearly not happening, and indeed never again will I set foot in that place after being treated like that today.

Anyway, I’m following King Creosote on to Findhorn tonight and decided to stop here in Elgin for this relocated Dufftown v Lossiemouth United match.

A shame that the Dufftown pitch is waterlogged, but it gives me an excuse to come up to Speyside another time which is never a bad thing.

Game is zipping along at a fair lick, Lossie currently winning 2-1 in front of a crowd that is probably too low to warrant counting. It’s hammering down, but I’m enjoying my freedom regardless.

Shame that. Nobody bothered me when I was at Aberdeen v Bonnyrigg, although I smuggled my camera in and was furtive.. perhaps in my advancing years I don't look like I would fight sleep.

If I was photographing the ground outside I'd have said roughly the same to the jobsworth steward.

Walked passed the Baptist Church yesterday and out of the corner of my eye I read the sign that sits out front as 'He is a kitten'. When I looked directly at the sign it read as it has always has done 'He has risen'.

It was on my mind for the rest of the day. Did I suddenly see things as they really are?

I mean cats watch us and the pass judgement on our behaviour all the time, God's own living security cameras?

Or should I just get a decent pair of glasses?

You're like the dyslexic agnostic who sat up all night wondering about the existence of Dog.

We all know how you get into the right wing, I got cancelled grift, but how do I get into the apparently lucrative counter-grift of provoking hyper-divorced man babies to call me names?

Is it as simple as poking fun at them on social media?

The right wing don't particularly care to have the pish taken out of them so you could be on to a winner.

I find one of the funniest things in Private Eye is the letters from gammons cancelling their subscription because they're objecting to satire in a satirical magazine.

The inability to find a working Air and Water machine near me.

Its no like I live in the sticks, but the one at Cameron Toll Sainsburys was (last time I was in) goosed, and the one at my local BP in Causewayside needs actual coins (despite the jetwash needing a card FOR FUCKS SAKE) !

I mean, water and air used to be a basic requirement for a fuel station.

Am I supposed to just drive around like a divvy til I find one?????

    FFS !!!!

You used to be able to find a pump down Salamander Street....

Was at the Ormiston v Burntisland game today, apparently a punch up of some sort at half time in the Ormiston changing room with them 3-0 behind at the break, one of the Primrose staff came out the changing area shouting about it 🤣

Seemed to fire up the home team as they passed up many chances second half, got one back, but then another goalie mistake (he had a few) sealed the game for Shipyard at 4-1.

A similar thing happened at an Edinburgh City game back in EOSL days. Goalkeeping coach had a disagreement with a defender at half time and booted him one.

The Coach left the ground never to be seen again and the defender had to be subbed injured for the second half.

I believe it is the same player :)

The Station Park, Barnhill is absolutely fasinating to me - mainly because I grew up close to there and it would've seen Arbroath play a game within walking distance of my mum and dads house!

Below is a picture of the station from 1932:

Below is newspaper currently from the late 1890s/ 1900s (what should of idiot doesn't save the date alongside the newspaper cutting FFS!? :()

From memory, the ground only lasted a few decades and if I remember rightly it was built on in the 1920s or so.....

Putting it all together I think the ground was where the half a dozen or so houses in the bottom left of the top picture are..... do those houses look recently ish built for the time (within 1-10 years of the picture being taken?). If so, then I'd be very confident I'm right, if not........ bollocks

The other historical ground that's interested me that we've played at is Balgay Park in Dundee - very close to where I now stay, and I'm forever walking around wondering where the pitch our legends of the 1890s graced was

In a bigger picture - one of the many things on my 'to do' list is to make a modern day google map of every ground we've ever played at.......  I'd also be interested in doing the same for the entire country, but I feel that would maybe be slightly excessive/ take several thousand plus hours....

To start you off: You once played on a pitch at Heriot Watt University roughly where the Oriam is now. It was a pre-season against Meadowbank Thistle c.1992

    Obscurity...

Think what you are reading is pure frustration at the fact we completely outplayed a one dimensional part time outfit for the vast majority of the game but dropped two points as the result of Dross’s diving, refereeing incompetence & not being clinical in the box. Hopefully you return to your rightful division & Stirling turn you over next week……..nothing personal.

You're only unbeaten thanks to refereeing incompetence at Meadowbank.

    Nothing personal.

Off topic I know, and I did post it when the poo hit the fan with Edinburgh a few months ago, however this is the reason why Edinburgh City really have to look at (and secure) an alternative. I fall in @peternapper’s camp here and it’s the reason I’m not going tomorrow, I’m sure there are hundreds or thousands like me across all clubs. At the end of the day, when you strip it back, we’re consumers and if consumers aren’t coming then how do you expect to make any money?

I’m sure everyone associated with ECFC know this, and for your sake, I really hope there’s a better alternative out there, for the sake of your club and for the home fans experience

Land in Edinburgh is expensive and likely to have a hotel or student halls built on it. The ordinary Edinburgher doesn't get a look in now in Scotland's Disneyland. Decent facilities for native Edinburgh people?! Ha! Try buying an affordable house on the average Scottish wage and you'll find why a lot of ex-Edinburgh people are travelling into work from Fife and East, Mid and West Lothian now.

The debacle regarding banning the Ultras for making too much noise also doesn't fill me with confidence that any other football ground wouldn't be subject to petitions from greeting faced busybodies. The Council don't like noise unless it's a concert at the Castle or a Festival Fringe event.

If a rich and particularly benevolent billionaire whose favourite colours are black and white is out there then I'd build something at Shawfair as there's a station there and it's quite handy for coming off the by-pass and there's a big housing estate planned there.

Saughton Enclosure could conceivably be converted into a fairly decent wee ground too (even better if you rip up the running track there on the grounds that there's a perfectly good one at Meadowbank so f*ck off you twatty athletes)

  11. I was pondering the question of whether there might be a Scottish Parliament election and the likely outcome.

Labour may win most seats but the nature of the PR system means they would likely go into coalition.

    Labour-SNP: Highly unlikely

    Labour-Tory: Unlikely

    Labour-Green: Unlikely

A grand Unionist coalition- Lib Dem-Labour-Tory is also unlikely (although Labour are quite happy to do deals like that in local Government). Which leaves the prospect of a Labour minority government held up by Tory and Lib Dem votes or the Lib Dems going into coalition as previously happened and the very talented and lovely Mr Cole-Hamilton getting a ministerial post to suit his abilities (the Ministry of Paperclips).

    Great.

This is by far the worst place to watch football in the country, be sure to take your glasses if wanting to follow the action. This is the only ground i did not go to a second time when in the same division the other year as i go home & away always.

I rather suspect the distance from a front row seat to the pitch is the same, if not less, than the distance from a front row seat to the pitch at a Queen's Park match.

    But, yes, it's shite.
