The St. Mirren FC 2023/24 thread

I get what you are saying but for me it’s not important that we had an off day in a cup tie at Aberdeen. Yes it would have been good to get some extra revenue from a cup run and all that, but for me everything is focused on the league, I genuinely couldn’t care less that we are out of the cup. It would have been different had we been in a mid table slot in the championship with little else to play for, but going for a title is miles ahead of any cup competition for me. -

The poster is at the wind up when you consider that no team in the championship has either the resources or the required quality of player to compete against the second best team in the country. That’s the last distraction out of the way for us and we can now fully focus on winning this league. The pundits and the media all expect Dundee Utd to go on and win it so I would use that as an extra motivation . How we’ve performed in the cups will have no bearing on our league form. -

It's been extremely difficult for Kirkpatrick to get a look in given the form of Cammy Smith, McGinn, McShane, Morgan and Reilly. He's not had much of a chance to prove he can do it at this level. He's probably only had one or two opportunities to show what he can do, but failed to impress if I'm honest. Good luck to the lad I hope he does the business for Alloa. -

I have on one or two ocassions this season had a wee pop at McShane for being inconsistent and leaving McGinn to do all the digging by himself. On reflection that opinion was very harsh going by his stats since he came in to the team. He actually compliments McGinn for the majority of the time. Maybe he can do the attacking mid role until the game is in the bag, and then make way for Hill to come on and see the game out. All in all he's been a cracking signing. -
Correct Harkins is consistent he's always been a c**t.

I must admit when I seen him in that game he was playing really well prior to the injury, you could quite clearly see he was struggling with the after effects of what happened in the collision. For me he's a cracking player at this level and very much a team player. I wish him nothing but the best. -

It's actually very sad if the story about Rory suffering from depression is true. As regards to his mental health I find myself wishing that he had taken up our offer of a contract pre season. He looked as if he was enjoying his loan spell with us last season and maybe it would have been good for him to continue. -

I don't see him coming to Saints as has been the suggestion from one or two of your fellow Livi fans. Maybe if we were an established top flight side but I can see Mullin signing for a bigger club than ourselves, he's always impressed me when I've seen him play against us, looks destined for a bigger move in my opinion. -

That's a very decent signing you've got, he started off a bit shaky and then settled down into a bit of form before losing his place to Harry Davis when he regained his fitness. He was going to be 3rd or fourth choice so it makes sense for him to move on. -

I reckon Sutton would have been punted as well if he wasn't digging his heels in and seeing out his contract, of which he is quite entitled to do. Can't help thinking that he would be better off at his age going out on loan for the last 6 months and getting some game time. He is decent back up for the strikers but can't see him featuring much if at all as we head towards the business end of the season. -

Slightly off topic but I see Dumbarton are at it again charging £22 and £14 for tickets a week on sat. -

I would agree with you on Baird he needs a rest, Gary Mac beside Harry Davis gives us a bit of solidity and a goal threat from set plays. -

It's hilarious how the media are going on about how terrible it is for Dundee Utd and their injury problems, yet they chose to almost ignore the fact that we had Harry Davis Gary Mackenzie and Kyle Magennis out injured for months. Yet somehow we are still in pole position. -

Cracking player who fits in perfect with our system, I would be happy to sign him on a permenant deal at the end of the season long loan deal. -

Has he been indulging in some of Robsons Venom cocktails.... What a fucking walloper Lewis Morgan is the best player in the championship by a considerable distance. -

McGinn going for 3 million would see us netting a nice wee bonus in time for the Jan Window. 33% of 3 million will do nicely. -

The Pars had 3 men marking Lewis every time he received the ball, yet he still manages to rip them all a brand new one. Glorious stuff. -

Always impressed with Mullen while playing against us for Livi. Would be a cracking signing if it comes off. -

How many loans can we have if Liam Smith is already here for the season? If Morgan goes to Celtic and returns as part of that deal and we also get Henderson then McCart would have to go back to make space for Loy.
