  1. 100% that we all have different opinions. That's what makes us all football experts.
I do see the reason for defending corners as we do but feel unlike teams at a higher level, we are unable to play our way out. Often our players are clearing their lines meaning the ball is coming straight back and we are once again under the cosh.
I will never forget when involved with my son in an under 18 game the opposition leaving 4 on the half way line at a corner and couple outside the box. What a decision that left. BTW, not suggesting we do this [emoji16]
Anyway, I will stick to selling things.
Hopefully get something on Saturday and then go on a run.

Cowden have done something similar years ago - and it worked.
    Opposition totally confused.
Not suggesting this is done at every corner.
  2. There was very little in the game  could easily have stole a point.
Agree with struggling to understand why we withdraw the whole team back when defending free kicks/corners. At one point Ross asked Carlos to get back in the box from being goal side already but outside the box. This resulted in the Spartans player following and 2 further players added to the already crowded box.
There were positives tonight and hopefully results will come soon against the teams above us. As others have said, the threat below is reduced so attacking more could be something we look to do moving forward.

Remember Cowden playing Peterhead and when they got a corner Cowden had three players on the centre line. Peterhead didn’t know what to do and the attack was nullified.
  3. What a performance start to finish. The recent signings have bolster the team to another level.
Carlos Lyon was fantastic today, he is the forward player we've been needing. I was happy to see his reaction to being appalled off by the Cowden fans when substituted.
I would also like to mention Bisland today. He has had some justified criticism by others. But I thought he was really good today and the goal was deserved for his performance. Hopefully he can use this to spur himself on now in future fixtures coming soon.
A great team performance today. I think we have a lot to be positive for the future if a few more good signings are made and the development of U20's team as@silkybeath previously mentioned.
    Mon the Cowden.

Carlos was very good, must be a nightmare to play against.
  4. Just a quick half time post to say brilliant first half; should be out of sight. We have had the strong wind, interesting to see if it makes any difference.
If Iain Davidson is past it, please send some more like that our way.

I was worried when we signed Davo. I saw him last season and he was poor. However, he really was excellent today and well deserved mom. Just can’t believe it’s the same player he strolled that game.
  5. One of Maurice's shouts at Carlos Lyon last night was "you're just a waste of space." That's not going to make players want to play for you. Is that how he talks to all the players?

    Surely not - that’s awful.
  6. Tool. They always have a solid and well setup side.
Good to see fans realising the charlatan in charge is doing more damage each week. Plenty money found for new signings, none to get rid of the tube.

It’s not because Stirling are so good it’s because we are so poor. Even the couple of games we have won could have gone either way.You could have written the post before the game.
We have had many good players on loan over the years, doesn’t seem to be working anymore.
  7. Stirling University are a decent team.  "The students" are essentially  full time footballers who can run all day and are well coached.   They always give the BU's a tough game.

They might be fit but they aren’t footballers.
  8. If he played 38 games for Brechin last season for a team that finished 2nd in the HL, it doesn’t sound like done to me.  That’s an impressive number at any age.
They wouldn’t have played someone that often when pushing for promotion if he was not at the races.
    Good luck to Iain.

Brechin currently three points clear at the top of the Highland league not having dropped any points.
But as already stated, you never know.

  9. Trust me, he should never have played that number of games and there wasn’t one Brechin supporter that wasn’t baffled by his inclusion every week. We are much better without him in the team.

I saw him “playing” a few times and have to agree, but you never know.

  10. I’m afraid you won’t be saying that after a couple of games. His legs have totally gone and offers nothing.

Brechin fans had been wanting him away for about a year.

Correct, he has been done for a while. Very strange signing.
  11. [emoji15]
control, movement , general play and distribution or even technique is evident if the player is pissed or having a worldly bud

Remember Markus having a bad game just after he arrived. He was getting stick from one fan in particular.
Well we all know what happened there. If only we could get someone like that again.
  12. If you read my post, you will actually see that I was complimenting the Bo'ness supporters. I apologise if he was not a Bo'ness supporter but he  was certainly shouting for them before the silence. As said, no problems with Bo'ness fans other that the old guy with his wife at the front who gave the big get it right up you when you scored at a couple of OAPs and a young girl.

Bo’ness fans giving the low life big licks. I’m surprised he didn’t get carried out.
  13. Alassan-Jones when on his game is a Championship level player.  Shows a bit of inconsistency which is why he has dropped down the leagues.   That's another cracking free kick to add to his collection.

Your No10 looked exactly like the type of player Cowden need. We just have a group of players doing their best without anyone pulling the strings.
  14. Some of the comments make me think that we had only 3 efforts on goal, each goal was a fluke, and we should have got a hiding.
I agree that Uni were sharper for the first 25 minutes or so, and they had some nice passing movements, but I thought after that we settled down and created as many chances as they did overall, don’t suppose any stats are kept to back this up.
There is a lot to improve on, some of the passing was pretty woeful, but we are at least trying to build some attacks, not just launching the ball, which doesn’t really work.
Our goals against now is pretty solid, way better than a number of teams higher up in the table, I don’t feel like many team are going to hammer us, at least a sold foundation there.

Even having “as many chances as they did” is scary
  15. It was a vital win, but can't disagree. The Uni team looked the far better of the two, slick and quick passing and movement. If they were better in front of goal they would have won comfortably. We on the other hand looked like headless chickens. Said it before, we should have been looking to sign more players from teams at his level, maybe we did and just couldn't get them.
The Uni number 11 strolled past Thomson every time. Thomson and Struthers were dreadful last night, but you have to cut them some slack, as one is 17 and the other not long turned 18. Newman and Berry still look poor and struggle. Berry puts himself about, but mostly loses the ball or fouls. Bizarrely he got MOTM. Still not sure about Sinclair. I have not seen every game, but I have seen most of them and he never looks like he will score. He had the ball in a few promising positions last night in one of the easiest games we will have this season and he kept losing the ball. Hopefully he will improve.
Slaven looks promising. Ruddy looks good. Martins needs to be back in the starting eleven and Robinson, although he overhits some passes, will get better each game. He looks like a player that was short on confidence and that confidence is coming back. I don't mind mistakes being made if we learn from it.
Still not sure what the tactics are though. We play it out from the keeper and if we don't lose the ball, which we often do, we then pass it sideways a few times and then just hoof it to the opposition, even though there is often plenty of space to travel forward with the ball. We struggle to string together a few passes.
Hopefully the win will give some of the players the boost they need and we can up our game and beat Gretna on Saturday, but it won't be easy. I am dreading the game against EK in October. If we play like last night it will be a cricket score.

Keep that post, it’ll save you writing it again. After the excitement last night it looks like not much has changed.
A team that has been getting hammered looking better than Cowden?
  16. Makes a change. There were so many games last season where we lost games in the last few minutes or just bad luck after being the better team.
Bit disappointing to read that we are still persisting with long misplaced passing. But hopefully a win and maybe a good performance on Saturday will set us up for future games. And tempt me back again!

  17. Take it mcbookie haven’t watched us yet seeing as we’re 8/13 favourites tonight[emoji1787] dreading it once again as I do every cowden game but i’ll be there with a small bit of hope.

How bad have we become when fans are dreading games? Unbelievable.
