  1. Can remember Stranraer going from ninth to top in the last third of the season in this league, making up a much bigger gap than the current one between Forfar and ourselves.
  2. A BAD decision by the Lowland League. Should have declared the season null and void. No relegation, so presumably the league will have to be expanded to accommodate any licensed EoS and SoS champions?
  3. The ‘default' is surely null and void in the event of nothing else being agreed to?
  4. And they really make the point as to why the top flight doesn’t want to expand the league any further. Another two teams in the bottom tier would require around £100k in prize money, which would have to come from the top flight. That would render their business model completely unsustainable.
  5. (Based on 2018/19 figures as I haven’t seen those for this season.) Bottom club gets £70k. As every club gets at least that, my understanding is that they all get this through three (?) equal payments during the season. At the end the prize money is paid. For finishing 9th the prize is £72.5k; for 8th £75k. So we’re really talking about very little extra for the teams near the bottom. Think this must have been what the Forfar chairman meant.
  6. These sorts of concerns should be raised in private. Clearly this is just dog-whistling to their fan base. Will likely lead to a charge for bringing the game into disrepute.
  7. The law is employment law, and under this no one can be forced to extend their contracts against their will, as was said here about three weeks ago, and many times a day since.
  8. Even by the standards already set in this thread...
  9. Surprised if they all voted. Under company law they had 28 days to vote. Only one club exercising this right would have forced the count to be delayed.
  10. Of course Stranraer don’t matter. Everyone knows we are a diddy club. [emoji6]
  11. If they stick to this view the only clubs in next season’s UEFA competitions will be from Belarus!
  12. The playoffs can only be changed with the agreement of the Lowland and Highland leagues so cue litigation against the SPFL.
  13. Suspect that Kelty, and possibly Brora and Bonnyrigg, may sue the SPFL if this goes ahead.
  14. Something that may also worry Annan and Queen of the South in the long run.
  15. (Pedantry...) Surely 0.33 of the Old Firm clubs have gone bust in the last 10 years?
  16. Among the more idiotic suggestions we’ve seen recently
  17. Tiny increases in crowds offset by substantial increase in stewarding/policing costs.
  18. Positives Four divisions so smaller teams can win something Moves towards a pyramid Negatives Voting a team with no history straight into the fourth tier in 2012 Failure of the other top 12 teams to reform the voting structure in 2012 Stupid rule changes e.g. new drop ball and substitution rules VAR
  19. The Mission of the SoSFL is "To Develop, Foster, Co-Ordinate and Sustain Association Football at the Club and League level throughout South West Scotland". One of its objectives is "To play and promote Association Football in the South of Scotland." There is no mention of Dumfries or Galloway in its constitution. The constitution doesn’t define either "south" or "south west." However, any common sense definition clearly extends beyond Galloway and Dumfries. Personally I think the best outcome would be to incorporate the SoSL into the new West, with probably most of the South teams eventually finding their place towards the bottom of the structure, and probably in regionalised leagues that stretch NS rather than EW, given longer east-west travel times. But no one can doubt given the SoSL constitution that that league could have insisted that most aspiring WoSL teams wanting access to the pyramid should have joined them. They are making a sacrifice for the greater good.
  20. Essentially showing the need for a lowland league.
  21. Why don’t we take the excellent idea from the new WoSL? Four conferences, possibly 12 in each with Brora plus 5 from the LL.
  22. All these asterisks is going to get very confusing. So Celtic* will have a different meaning to Rangers*? Why Kelty when Bonnyrigg could also win?
