Terrible tactics from sky yesterday. There was no need for them to set the pace up the first climb and by doing so they have taken Heano out the equation. It Is also funny how sitsou, cataldo and zandio were all dropped on cat 3s last week but were shredding the peloton on the first climb after the rest day. The peloton are taking it pretty easy today and there is even a sky man in the break. Hopefully there wil be attacks from the faves on the final short climb.

i think you can tell that george rr martin isn't too interested in the form of a tv episode from the structure of that one. i don't if anyone else is reading the grantland reviews but the guy there is clearly getting dismayed despite the two show runners giving him lots of access. it's obviously a challenge handling such a big cast and so many locations but there must have been better ways of doing it than flitting about the way they are. robb, jon snow and theon's narratives are boring - robb has been grimacing while not fighting a war from a tent or great room for two years now - and although dany has kicked ass this season she has been all business. jamie and brienne has worked so well because their narrative has moved and the characters have developed along with it. kings landing is entertaining because there are enough featured characters who can interact there to keep it interesting. the other parts would have benefited from getting longer chunks of episodes to give a bit of depth even if it meant not seeing theon or dany for 3 or 4 weeks at a time.

wiggins has ended up in second place. it'll be interesting to hear why he was so bad at the start. great ride from nibali who moves into pink. good rides from evans, nibali, scarponi and gesink as well. a bad day for hysdejal. it's perfectly poised.

wiggins seems to be back on a normal performance level after being inspired by the olympics last year. he lost time on the technical section and made it back on the head down part. i still see him losing time to evans, hydelsal, scarponi and maybe nibali.

the last bump makes it great. this plus the fight last season makes vincent kartheiser a comedy legend. i like the analogy about mutually assured destruction with his father in law. trudy's dad saying he would do the right thing was the most misguided statement ever. trudy was clearly ready to let him back in her life step by step and seemed pretty happy to see him unannounced but pete decided to blow up his marriage anyway on a stupid point of principle. he has completely self actualized and embraced the seedy, dishonest side of his character. pete and harry are clearly both meant to be warnings about what corporate culture and privilege does to people.
