  1. Only watched Sportscene, so my comments might be way off.

First goal looks like Kelly's fault. We've seen every time that he plays as a CB that he's nowhere near a premiership level player at that point, but for some reason we keep trying. De Lucas has to have had a knock to be dropped for Kelly, if not it's insanity. I know De Lucas didn't have a brilliant couple of games with the OF, but he's still been our best CB this season IMO. And I include Devlin in that. Shamal also should do better. I really like Shamal as a player as he's the best keeper at claiming crosses since we got promoted, but he's having one too many shot-stopping errors so far this season.

Penalty is a little soft, but fair. Nouble gets clipped, Gordon's just an idiot as he's going nowhere. Delighted to score a penalty again, it's been a while.

Red card is valid. Nouble get clipped, Gordon's just an idiot as he's flying in recklessly with a straight leg. Michael Stewart going 'but he didn't touch him' is the daftest opinion that's come out of his mouth in a while, and it's got some contenders. He's millimeters away from a leg break. It's not 1920 any more, it's dangerous and reckless and he got lucky.

St Johnstone are going to struggle this season. We could be 4th, we could be 11th.

Sangare was utterly woeful, he's not ready for these types of games and that's obvious. Luiyi, penalty aside, had a good game. Obileye looks shaky as ever in a back 2 pairing. Shinnie and Holt had limited time and space to work with even against 10, Penrice had the run of the left but rarely got the ball. Bruce is a better target man than Nouble and Guthrie combined which is saying something

Saw someone mention it before but Nouble has Myles Hippolyte syndrome, only performs better when the cameras are on or it's Rangers/Celtic. He wasn't great today though, his head has absolutely gone now that his move didn't materialise.

We sorely missed Mick Devlin today, Montano as well. Unfortunate not to take something after they went to 10 but that's the quality Celtic can afford with the riches available to them.

We won't be judged over a season on games against Celtic/Rangers so it was a free hit in the end.

Maybe it looked different in the stadium, but Sangare looked like he had his best performance for us IMO. And De Lucas looked nowhere near as comfortable in a 2.

Spot on about Nouble, Devlin and Montano. Nouble's our best player when he's on it, but he looks like he's counting down the days to the summer already. I questioned the number of CBs that we signed in the summer, but we already have too many out for us to be able to play 3 at the back. Parkes showed why he hasn't been rushed back, he didn't look fit.

But hey ho, it's Celtic, we expect to lose these. Onwards.

We've never even really been in a relegation battle since we came up, finished 10th first season up and beyond that we've been out and safe fairly early on. There's not much between the likes of St Johnstone, Dundee, Ross County, Livi and St Mirren I don't think over the course of 5-10 years

9th, but your point stands. The only time I've been worried about relegation was the season when we started poorly and were 11th in December, but we were then 4th in early March. We've been comfortable pretty much every other season.

Might be being naive, but I also think we'll easily be fine this year. Another 9th place beckons.

  4. Would be absolutely delighted if either Anderson or Barnes decided to play for us, however long it takes them to come to the decision. If they're in, and committed, they'll both be major assets to the squad.

If they're not committed, well, ask Ryan Fraser what happens.

I almost had de Lucas and boyes in the same bracket last season, in moments both had been excellent and then others very nervy and unconvincing. I do feel de Lucas has always had the natural attributes of the height and pace to help him. Was hoping they’d both kick on, to start the season de Lucas has been excellent and boyes has barely had a look in. I’m sure martindale said last summer his plan was to send boyes out on loan to develop but injuries to other defenders forced him to stay, think it’s a really good move for him and feel like he’ll be a solid cb at champ level.

Agreed, last season I'd have played Boyes over De Lucas, but Luiyi has been class this season so far. Had his brain fart moments (the keeping the ball in against Rangers and putting it right in front of goal moment is the one that comes to mind), but he's been our best player so far this season IMO.

With the amount of CBs we have then I'm not at all surprised he's leaving. Probably room for another to go too, probably Parkes

Watching Boyle get clearly shoved off the ball time and time again and accused of diving is top bantz tbf.

Comfortably the biggest diver in the league. Although Doidge's attempt today could have used Boyle's expertise.

Reminds me of these whiny comments he made last season the week after he stood on Tom Parkes foot and won a penalty - https://www.footballscotland.co.uk/spfl/scottish-premiership/martin-boyle-no-diver-hibs-22492819

Made bed, can lie in it etc

Fully prepared for all of our deliveries to be absolute dogshit, and/or any header ending up safely in the stands.

Last night was a bit of a confidence boost for me with some of the giants in our squad but at the same time, Hibs are more likely to go for the win here now that the European tie is done; if they were only a goal down they'd be more likely to rest up for this one but can't really see it now. My biggest worry is that our defence is more than capable of a few brain farts so I can't see us keeping a clean sheet with the quality Hibs have going forward.

    George

de Lucas  -  Obileye  -  Devlin

    Brandon  -  Holt  -  Shinnie  -  Montano

    Pittman  -  Nouble

    Guthrie

Brandon purely to get more crosses in rather than Penrice cutting inside, unsure if Anderson is available but if he's able to come off the bench then even better. Could also have either Sean Kelly or Sangare instead of Shinnie if you want an extra bit of defensive cover. Hopefully guys like Stephen Kelly, Penrice, Bradley, and Lawal can do something productive off the bench if needed.

Was happy about Hibs getting to the play-offs so the game could be on the Sunday as I'm away until Saturday night, so f**k whoever (UEFA?) decided to move that game to the Wednesday, I hope it's a shitey boring game without even a referee decision to get excitedly angry about.

I suspect this will be exactly the lineup.

If we can't finally score a goal away from home against that disasterous defence that we saw last night then we've got big problems. On the other hand, up front then Hibs are dangerous af.

    0-0

Rumours kicking around we are after Nouble today. Canny see it, but I do wonder if we are the team that put in a cheeky bid for him.

I could see it. His value has halved in the last 3 months, a cheeky 300k has half a chance of being looked at. I’d be disappointed if he went to someone were looking at as a rival, but with our finances i don’t think it would be rejected out of hand. 500k would take him, although that might be out of Killie’s budget.

Sure, well I didn't see it properly myself so I think I had it wrong and you and Cptn Hooch have it right. As for Sangare generally, some good moments in his performances today and last week but issues too. Tactically, he's looked a bit lacking. He's been running all over the place rather than keeping his movements in line with his role. Hopefully that can be ironed out in time and his stamina level upped too.

Yeah, he's shown enough potential to look like he'll do well for us, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him be shit for 4 months and only look good from February onwards

For the rebound? Shinnie had let Lammers go first before Sangare tried to react. Devlin being breezed past by Cantwell was the larger weakness with that goal.

Need to see it again, but I'm not sure I agree. Sangare was a lot closer to the ball than Lammers for the first but was caught on his heels. Gave the ball away a few times in that half too. There's potential with him but I'm not sure he's fully up to it just yet. I take your point on Devlin though, he needed to do better there.
