What's the point of Guthrie?
Pre-injury Guthrie looked like he had potential, but post-injury Guthrie has been pretty useless. He was the hardest worker in the team in September, but is arguably the laziest now.

Not the best game so far. Shankland should have scored from that corner, but Livi have been (slightly) the better team.
Anderson and Omeonga have been class so far.

How can any team be bad enough to get wet towel whipped around the park by Hibs ffs. How utterly embarrassing.
Yeah haha, any team getting humped 4-0 at easter road must be embarassing

I suspect Isma will be on a decent wage, he was a big name last time he was in Scotland. Perhaps not our highest earner (I suspect those are Fitz & Omeonga?), but I'd be surprised if he was in the bottom half.

So obvious candidates to be shipped out are Ivan, Fitz, Mullin if we can make it happen, Kabia. Longridge has been floated for a while, but I can't see that happening. Other than that we're waiting on a surprise bid for someone

I'd be surprised if we did recall Mullin tbf. To play wide right we have Nouble, Bahamboula & Bradley, and both Kelly and Shinnie have filled in there. No real benefit to it.

I'm still raging about the clear foul in the buildup should've been down to 9 men 97th minute equaliser last time out.
Hearts have sorted their shit out and seem to be a decent unit atm, although they weren't in bad form when we last played in November.
1-1, and VAR to remind us all why it's a giant pile of shite and make me long for the halycon days of last season when it wasn't here.

Just became aware of Panayiotou's departing comments. He must be the first person in many years to describe something as toxic at Livingston. We don't know the full story, but a player who has only ever really played non league and seems to put more effort into this vlogging, probably isn't cut out for top flight football. There was a whiff of the Moses Duckrells about him.
Yeah, he was definitely quite forward about it. I'm not saying he was right, but I can see why some people wouldn't fit into this environment. However, I think the amount of players that have said that this is the best dressing room they've ever worked in, the amount of returning players, and quite simply the results show that Panayiotou's opinions aren't the norm

Whoever recorded Martindale at h/t and initially shared it needs to have a word with themselves. Snakey, sneaky, shitty behaviour all round.
Was the ball kids apparently.
Yeah, he was a little extreme, but it's working. It wont be for everyone however, I can understand some comments made by Panayiotou when he left now

Any word on Kabia apparently Queens are interested.
Good move for your new centre half to get experience of Scottish football with a loan just like Nouble .
Bartley will look after him well.
If he's still here at the end of the month, I imagine he's coming to Queens on loan for the rest of the season. He's surplus here. Rumour has it that there are clubs interested in taking him permanently now, however.
De Lucas wont be coming to you on loan. Cancar might though

We've had a few others at the club with some level of "baggage"
Marvin Bartley, Shaun Byrne, Cristian Montano, Anthony Stokes, Angelo Ma***ne, Hakeem Odoffin, David Robertson (don't think it was known at the time tbf)
We seem to be a bit of a haven for footballers with baggage (whether their own doing or otherwise) and give them the chance to kick on. In fairness, guys like Gallagher wouldn't be anywhere near our club without their baggage as they'd have been levels above us. Same with Martindale, I reckon he'd be in a bigger job already had it not been for his past
I've missed some of these stories, what did Byrne and Odoffin do?

I think we've navigated this run of fixtures pretty decently. There's a massive run of games coming up though, post-Dundee Utd we've got Hearts, Celtic, Killie (must win IMO), Rangers, Aberdeen and then Hibs.
That run could very well see us slide down the table but if we were to take say, 7 or 8 points from the 18 available I'd think that's somewhat of a success. It puts a lot of pressure onto our run in to the split though with that run being:
Ross County, St Mirren, Motherwell, St Johnstone, Dundee Utd.
So with 33 points available pre-split, would another 12 (taking us to 43pts) be enough for top 6? Obviously the more we get now the better if we truly are chasing European football.
46/48 points were enough post-split for Motherwell (5th) and Dundee Utd (4th) to get there last season. 45/56 were enough in 20/21 for St Johnstone (5th) and Aberdeen (4th).
Last season was notorious for being a close run in for top 6/Europe though with teams forming a big mid table glob in the last 5-6 games pre-split.
It didn't count for Europe but 18-19 saw 54pts get 5th (Hibs) and 67 tie for 3rd/4th (Killie and Aberdeen).
A win against Dundee Utd and Killie before/in the middle of this run would be absolutely massive for our aspirations if it's what Martindale is really aiming forAgree with this. The Motherwell/St Mirren results weren't great, but we're improving and we're in a decent spot in the table now.
If we're still in the top 6 at the end of february, we'll be in a great spot. Although last season taught me not to count any chickens

Still got your Livingston loans to come but looking at your starting line up yesterday there's too much to be done in the one window.
Gibson signed far too much guff in the summer.
I'm not convinced there will be many, if any. You'll get Kabia if we can't offload him, but I think it's likely that he moves somewhere else permanently.
Other than that, there are no real candidates unless other loans get recalled. Maybe Cancar, but I'd assume we'd be looking to get him to a championship club rather than L1.

What is the deal with Isma? Is he just unfit or is he completely disinterested?
Trying to be as unbiased as possible as he's definitely turned into a bit of a boo boy, I think it's both.
He clearly has excellent technique, and is fitter than he was at the start of the season, but is probably still the least fit member of the squad. He looked like he would eventually fit in when he was fitter at the start of the season when we weren't always playing 4-3-3 (or 4-2-3-1, whichever way you want to look at it), but he was clearly way behind the rest of the squad in terms of energy levels.
Now we're 5 months into the season, and he's not where he should be after that much time. It took 3 months to turn JET from an overweight carthorse into one of the best players in the division, so the hope was that we'd be able to do something similar with Isma, but he's just not there. It's not injuries, it's not time, it's not his lack of technical ability, it just seems to be attitude.
That, and he doesn't really fit into the way we're playing this season. There's a lot of work expected from our no 9, whether it's Anderson, Nouble or Guthrie, and Isma is nowhere near as athletic as either of those 3. He's not shown enough versatility to take one of the wing places either.
He does occasionally show flashes that make me think that there is a place for him in this squad if he's fit. But it's January, and tbqh he doesn't look like he wants to be. Wouldn't be surprised to see him shipped out in January, although I also wouldn't be too surprised to see him be a nailed on starter for us in April.

I've only seen the highlights, so these comments might be a little harsh:
- Shamal needs to do better for both goals. Tbf Boyes does atrociously for the first one, but both parries were into poor areas and that can be improved upon.
- Matthews was utterly atrocious in the Saints goal. A decent keeper stops both the first and the fourth, and arguably the second.
- The saints defending for the 3rd is probably the worst defending at a corner that I've ever seen. They had 3 chances to clear that and still fucked it.
- Great composure from Kelly for both goals. The second in particular is a nice finish. Getting him for a nominal fee looks like a bargain.
- Not sure I understand the starting lineup with both Holt & Pitts on the bench. I mean it worked in the first half, but was that us, or was that St Johnstone being really shite? I'm confident that Kelly/Kelly/Omeonga is a weaker midfield than Holt/Kelly/Pittman.
Still, enough misery, that's a really good win. EUROPEAN TOUR BABY!

Not sure we deserved that, but I'll take it. How we managed to nearly f**k up a 3-0 lead I do not know

That's the worst defending I've seen in a while, and I watched this Hibs team hump us a fortnight ago.

Thanks for Steven Bradley lads. Looks like a quality signing already.

I don’t care to be honest. Never been so disinterested. Have a hunch that we’ll get a result here though - seems like the sort of game.
I unfortunately have the same hunch

If Davie says he's not looking for anyone else and we're done, then I believe him. 100%. Definitely.
We've played this game before. There'll be no suggestions for the next 3 weeks, but then suddenly Isma will go sign for Kerala Blasters, Cancar will go on loan to Queens Park, Omeonga will leave with a 'mutual agreement' and we'll sign some boy from Hungary that none of us have ever heard of.

Need to get Ayo back on them. He’d never miss 2 in the one game.
Ayo was our main penalty taker for a while, and then suddenly started doing this weird 'try and wait for the keeper' thing that everyuone cottoned on to, and then he missed 2 (3?) in a row, and was then removed. I wouldn't mind him going back on them if he occasionally mixed it up a little
