Yeah it’s the organisation of the busses I don’t want them to pay for it. It would be a chargeable service

My mate ran a bus to Falkirk and it really boils down to money.  If not enough turn up that have booked, you lose out.  He had folk booked on that were booked on other buses and were deciding on the day which to go on etc, which isn't ideal.  If I was doing it, it would be pay when you book or not at all.  I think when the club ran the bus to QOS you purchased your bus ticket online which was a really good idea and it was paid instantly.  If they done that and not enough booked by a certain day of the week then just cancel the bus.  It is probably more along the lines of no one at the club would want to do it.  Would someone like the Martin Tocker want to give up their comfy seat up on the club coach, followed by comfy seat in the directors box?  Not having a go, just pointing out the obvious.

Honestly can’t think of any period in the last 40 years when the club paid for supporters buses.  I do remember at least one occasion during the Bill Barr years when it happened as a one off to mobilise the support for a big game (the relegation decider against Partick in 97), but otherwise it was always done by volunteers through supporters clubs.  The demand for buses seems to have dwindled through the years, perhaps because they’re being policed more closely now with more enforced restrictions on alcohol meaning guys would rather make their own way on trains etc.  Or maybe there is still a demand and we just don’t have enough people willing to do the organising anymore.

Whatever the case, I think the criticism of the club around this is plain ridiculous.  As has been explained ad nauseam, it puts the club in a difficult spot if there is bother on an official club organised bus.

That's not what fans are asking for and keeps getting said for some reason.

This departure has got to be wage related surely? He's likely one of our higher earners, so it must be to make room for someone else coming in.

Either way it's very disappointing. I really rate Spong, and I don't think we'd seen the best of him yet.

What kind of midfielder is he?  We are needing one so putting 2+2 together here to get 5.

McNulty has struggled goals wise outwith league two in England and the Championship here. According to this he only played 13 times in the English Champ?

Ultimately both have been on a downward spiral, I just think McNulty’s has been steeper - plus you then add in the lack of game time.

ETA, May actually has far more appearances in the English Championship with 50 appearances and eight goals.

You're right, I had it in my head his stints at Coventry and Sheff Utd were in the Championship :1eye:lol:.  If it was a toss up between the 2, then May would probably be my pick in terms of probably more up to match speed etc.  We seen last year that Maguire hadn't played for months and that would be the same with McNulty.  Cue a jobber midfielder from Colchester U23s with no senior appearances.

On McNulty - I would far rather have May, who was at least relatively successful last year. I’m not sure when you could last say that about McNulty!

Looking over both their stats overall, McNulty with a better goals to game ratio playing at a higher level than May.  May a goal every 3.4 matches, McNulty a goal every 3 matches.  Obviously not much in it, but McNulty played regularly at English Championship level.  May more goals in Scottish football, but spent most his career here obviously.

    Just going back to this?

Are we expecting a biggish name signing to be happening? Feel like it’s always a risk at this time of year when you go for a recognised name that maybe hasn’t been playing as much and they inevitably never get up to speed.

Just the name I've heard from a source that's been not bad this season.  Suppose it is a risk, however everyone is in terms of experienced pro's or young inexperienced players that we deal in.  Hopefully done and dusted early today.

at the very least with May unlike Maguire he has still been getting minutes at St Johnstone and at only 31 i would like to think he isn't completely lost it but have to wait and see if the rumour is true my one concern is you bring him in and then you have Dowds, McKenzie, Rose and Bryden all competition for striker depending on if you stick with 2 up top or 1 would say your maybe best letting someone go on loan like a Bryden?

I had heard McNultys name mentioned today.  Seems we have a few names banding about just now, whether one is right I don't know.  Ideally one comes in and Bryden goes out on loan, somewhere like Alloa/QOS/Stirling would be ideal.

  8. In: Sanders

Out: O. Ecrepont, F. Ecrepont, Young, Senga, Ahui

Probably wouldn't really count Ollie going, but that is 4 players who played and some regularly.  Sanders probably covering Ahui, one to cover Young/Senga and an attacker, with another full back at a stretch.  I wonder if Murdoch is maybe not too far away since we've seen him in training.

  9. All well and good you can phone and buy a ticket if you are a ST holder, however for general sale not being able to do that and not being open later during the week and only 10-5 and 10-4 when people are working won't be much of a help.  Surely a late night on the Thursday would help out non ST holders who work within they hours?

  10. Wonder how Brown will play this, if he will change his formation to his favored 4231.  Probably too soon for Musonda to be back in the squad, would imagine he'll be back next Saturday from the AFCON, if it's 4231 maybe something like this:

     Albinson

    McAllister  Stanger  McGinty  Reading

    Dempsey  Syla

    Chalmers  McGeady*  Murphy

    Dowds

Subs: Mutch, Ahui, Watret, Donnelly, Tomlinson, Smith, Bryden, Rose, Amarety**

*McGeady the only one I can think of who can play in that 10, unless he was to try Tomlinson in there, plus not sure if McGeady is even fit and available.

**Is he still even at the club?

Think he was always gonny go to a club up that neck of the woods.

Would have been a decent signing

Ayr closer to Dundee than what Inverness is, but would imagine this has been in the pipeline for a while.

Rocco Vata would be a realistic loan I guess but Celtic have a lot of injuries in that position so it’s unlikely. Hopefully there will be a few players in the premier looking to go, Livingston must be due a fire sale to get some better players in, same with Ross County

Not really a position we need, sure he is a winger.

Hopefully whilst we have some peace, what is the general consensus around the positions and number of players we'll be looking to bring in? My assumption (pessimist in my view) is we'll land with something around the £450-550k from gate receipts, prize money and tv money.

I reckon from that it is probably worth 5 or 6 decent quality players over half a season (if we are going all in on survival and based upon who's left so far) between loans and free/nominal transfers. We absolutely need to address LB and RB given the lack of cover and general weakness in those areas. With Brown mentioning additional firepower up top, my guess is a strike partner for Dowds and maybe a wide man and an attacking mid?

Hopefully that would let Bryden get out on loan for some much needed game time and confidence.

Full back that could cover both right and left back, centre half, centre mid and striker.  Ahui back to Lincoln and Bryden out on loan.  That would be an ideal January for me.
