  1. no. has someone resigned amide public uproar and smug comments like 'first class'? has the new guy been seen out and about in a high viz jacket? thus i was right. has it damped the uproar? will they dare let it happen again now? you like quoting from this 'newsnetscotland' a lot. can you provide a third party source or better the committee transcripts? and of course they backed swinney, that's why they were there if they didn't they'd be out of a job -like stevenson. as odious as charlie gordon is, his comment about the forecasts predicting the level of snow was accurate -the forecasts officially available to relevant chiefs might have required more analysis than they gave them but I'm sure their offices have windows. anyway its clear I was right. to keep bringing this up is dicksonesque behaviour from you.
  2. available on itunes? edit: grey's anatomy? has she watched House?
  3. this sounds like third essay syndrome. basically you have one that you know lots on, one that you know a bit on, and one that you will have to wing with remnants of your mind, its ok each essay will make up a seperate mark contributing to the whole. the best thing to do would be to apply your knowledge to one question, as I indicate wing the third one. then you get three essays 1 an A one a B and one a C wheras a bit in each would be three C's. no?
  4. this is spot on. this or NCIS. but NCIS would definitely be second.
  5. clearly the government read this board! not 4 days from a resignation and me pointing out more proactivity and being seen out and about in big luminous jackets would help the situation than we have this and on reporting scotland the minister in a luminous jacket and hard hat filmed in discussion with gritting personnel. me for FM.
  6. if he'd been seen to be more proactive rather than sitting in nice warm tv studios going on about 'first-class' then yes, I suspect he could have stayed. It's not pleasant, but someone did have to go. Had he been more proactive I suspect the head of BEAR could have went instead.
  7. there's nothing to be happy about. it was just needed to maintain public confidence. the man signed his own death warrant with his 'first-class' comment. instead he should have put in a big jacket and been seen to be out there -he projected a lack of dynamism, in the end it was difficult to see he cared.
  8. predictable. this stops attack opportunities for grey
  9. it really is. not a patch on old school cartoons like thundercats or classic thomas or dangermouse.
  10. whilst I'm all for sleeping late, this has ramifications which are outlined in an excellent west wing episode. when did the transport sec. learn of this info. and if not at 08.01, when and who took the decisions in his stead? or maybe I'm just plugging one of my fav west wing epsiodes
  11. I wonder if we might get the desired resignation before the statement!
  12. which of the two points are wrong exactly? someone has to go, public confidence in the transport system is at risk. people can still die? disprove it. and I note panic buying has begun.
  13. i'd agree a review of tech would be good. centralised early warning? whilst I agree this is a good idea generally I think localised responses need to be empowered to a localised commander e.g. oh its raining on the m77 it should be regritted immediately." people can still die. someone has to go. stevenson is the obvious candidate after his 'first class' nonsense and refusal to apologise till salmond obviously told him to. if only to engender public confidence in all the good ideas we've just discussed.
  14. what punters saw is irrelevant. what the minister/planners saw is what's important and clearly they were told 5-10 cm AT rush hour. they failed to deal with that. if it turns out to be a failure by someone to say aww haud on, its raining we better grit again cause it might have been washed away, then fine, but that's still ss's fault as he hadn't enabled those decisions to the chalk face. fine the best they could do. except that has been found unacceptable. stevenson has to go. he's a liability and an easy target for that non entity grey. the best they could do is no excuse. if homer simpson was in charge of hunterston power station and it went into meltdown you wouldn't say ah well, homer did the best he could, you'd ask why a retard was in charge. its not an anti snp thing, its an anti stevenson thing. he's clearly to blame -the buck stops with him, or with swinney. which would you rather was lost?
  15. watching newsnight xbl? just showed the forecast with the words severe and rush hour and central scotland used.
  16. well first of all, you plough. then you grit. if possible you do the two at once. then you do it again. and again. and again. I would have had all of my people in rotation out from 4am ploughing/gritting and I would have continued it until end of the rush hour say 8pm. now, yes it is costly. yes it is labour intensive, but tell me it wouldn't have worked -the grit would work since its not too cold, and plenty of cars creates the famously previously discussed 'churn'. instead we have people abandoned on ice rink car park wastelands with the gritter stuck behind the lines of traffic. lack of forethought. lack of planning, lack of strategy, lack of information, lack of leadership. this transport sec. has proven himself unfit for office. and will I anticipate be relieved in the forthcoming reshuffle. faced with the nightmare the transport sec. created however, I don't think we can say lack of effort of the coalface personnel.
  17. ah, that'll be the transport sec.'s next deflection, "the wrong kind of snow" snow is snow, it melts and then turns to ice, its a hazard and should have been dealt with.
  18. exceptional yes. unexpected I have to take issue with. met office as well as BBC weather weather warnings were in place. can I just point out the transport sec.'s poor performance on newsnight. no apology. 'first class performance' by authorities and couldn't give assurance that it would be cleared by tomorrow. now I understand that given he and his people failed to pick up on the weather warnings etc and act accordingly -and even if there had not been these in place, there's been plenty of white stuff in the north to anticipate this would come- and thus he can't apologise without opening himself up to legal action for compensation if anything fatal/less than lethal but unpleasant happens as a result of this ineptitude. but to actually use the line 'first class performance' and then not positively affirm that the roads would be made passable for tomorrow was shocking.
  19. I take it you expanded on your fees views whilst wearing it?
  20. it did. still coachless? perhaps best to continue that way.
