  1. You don’t hear keech or jobby much nowadays either.
  2. Or ‘sweating like a hooded rapist on a clammy night’
  3. Completely agree. That’s what I was trying to get across in my post. I’d said earlier in the season that Miller & Wedderburn shouldn’t play in the same team as they are both defensive midfielders. He takes Wedderburn out and replaces with McKay, a defender!! Where’s the intent to attack and support the forwards. Of the two wing backs only McDonald was getting forward occasionally. Eckersley remained at the back most of the time. Really frustrating- think we had one attempt on goal each half.
  4. Insipid, boring, timid, clueless, spineless defensive rubbish. That’s what Murray is serving up. Doesn’t matter what players he puts in whatever position it is set up not to concede and by default not to score. The midfield is set up with defensive minded midfielders who are too slow in thought and action to move the ball forward and make use of what attacking options we have.
  5. Was planning on doing the NL Cumbernauld 10k but lack of confidence in my running delayed me entering. Unfortunately I’m too late to enter now as it’s full but I’m road running 5miles in 53minutes. Not super fast I know but I’m enjoying it and I’m sure I’ll fit a 10k in in the near future and will break the 60 minute mark. The problem will be keeping it going in the winter as at the moment I’m doing 2 outdoor runs per week and 2 sessions in the gym. Anyway thanks for the tips a wee while ago, I always look at this thread for a wee bit of encouragement and it helps.
  6. I thought Bohemians played some nice stuff at times. Tried to take it down and pass it as opposed to our thump it long approach. Agree with Ammo that Roy was anonymous and that’s me being kind. He wants to watch Smith in particular his work rate and try to replicate it. The midfield is too slow and I think Roberts may have helped in there today with a wee bit more direct running from midfield. Bit unfair on Thompson asking him to defend as a wing back and the two goals conceded were down that side. It was right that Eckersley was brought on to shore up that side. Hey ho it’s a victory and still a lot of improvement required. Whens the draw for the next round?
  7. Had a go at your triathlon this morning. Not as quick as you guys , 31 minutes. Done a five mile road run last night so still suffering from that (aye excuses) but enjoyed it this morning and will give it a go more often. My running is abysmally slow mind you.
  8. Bringing McDonald on to replace him and moving MCKay to the left helped. McD got forward, overlapped and got the ball in the box. All of which we lacked from the full backs in the first half. I think he made a difference. Thompson and Roberts both got on the ball more and took players on which helped. Some difference between halves, night and day. Still a lot of improvement needed tho if we’ve to compete for the league/play offs.
  9. Agreed!! The young guys been really hard done by. Thought he was our only natural goal scorer. Don’t know what he had to do to get a run in the team - he had a terrific attitude and work ethic as far as I could see and he could score when given the chance. All the best and I hope this is a springboard for him.
  10. My first trip to Montrose yesterday and thought I'd give myself 24hours rather than diving in as I usually do. Immediate thoughts yesterday after the game were usual pessimistic, glass half full stuff. Iin the cold light of day I thought the defence benefitted from Fordyce moving into centre half and Mckay looked ok at right back. While Eckersley looks decent he appears to have a tendancy to dive in. Gave away a free kick in the second half diving in at the edge of the box - Montrose fans were screaming it was inside. He also dived in and cost the penalty against Accies but I'd rather have that than McDonald's passive defending so I'll take the odd hit with him. I was moaning that the midfield couldn't string passes together yesterday but maybe I should give Montrose credit for that rather than look on it as our failure. Murray dropped Miller in favour of Roberts and it gave us a bit more going forward from midfield. I don't believe (and others appear to agree) that Wedderburn and Miller aren't suited to the same midfield so one had to go. Ally Roy isn't a left winger and was rightfully moved into the centre, slightly behind Smith. Seemed to operate a bit better than last week especially, although I'm not convinced by Roy. . I think the biggest positive to take out of it is that Murray isn't scared to change things. Gallacher and Roy aren't wingers and we lacked width so he dropped one, moved the other central and brought in two wingers after last week's poor show, the two holding central midfielders didn't work so Miller made way for Roberts and Kerr messed up last week and was dropped for a defensive rejig. Maybe he's experimenting but I think it's going to be the first quarter before we see a bit of consistency and settled team and style. Was nice to come away from the game with three points, made the drive back more pleasant but it could easily have went the other way - I'll take it.
  11. Can any Partick fans advise on entry prices for Saturday? Can’t see anything on your official site.
  12. I thought he was ok some decent passing and covered a bit of ground. Wouldn’t be adverse to giving him a season or an extended trial period. Not sure who he is tho.
  13. Meant to say I’m not a fan of the strip would be better if it was a red back rather than black. Anyway I’m too old and fat to be wearing football tops so not really an issue[emoji16]
  14. That was promising. O’Reilly was pick of the bunch for me and I was delighted to see Cammy Russell get on the scoresheet. I think he could be the answer to our goal scoring problems. Eckersly and Fordyce looked the part and the big centre half, Kerr, looked comfortable on the ball. Will reserve judgement until I see him up against the more senior forwards in L1 such as Samson at Falkirk. Roy put the work in but missed a couple that he really should have stuck away. Not sure about Wedderburn and Miller in the same midfield. I’d prefer only one sitting midfielder and I prefer Millers mobility. I’m sure I could go on but looking forward to the start of the season proper. Might even take a trip to Firhill next week.
  15. Who was the sub who came on at centre forward for you guys this afternoon? Must’ve been 5 stone overweight.
  16. I'll be renewing my season ticket on my return from holiday. Looking forward to this season (as I was last season and the season before that). I was on a bit of a downer given the sidelining of the supporters trust and I think the owners are missing a trick not getting them on board and utilising all that community and charity work experience and their success in raising the profile of the club both locally and nationally. A lot of good people only with the clubs best interests at heart. While I still have nagging doubts about the owners especially how they are going to fund it all, the pace of the change has been impressive - the turnover of playing staff in both getting guys out the door and the early recruitment is something we haven't seen for a long while. It remains to be seen if the signings match the expectation, they didn't last year. The communication with the supporters utilising social media is night and day compared to some previous regimes and it's a breath of fresh air. The manager and director of fitbaw all saying the right things and bringing an air of positivity. I'll be backing them to the hilt and expect to take in a lot more away games also this year but there is still that wee bit of me that is still expecting it to go pete tong.
  17. Ally Roy, NI u21 international released by Partick. A tad under whelming.
  18. Kyle MCDonald from Them. Murray seems to be going for youth. Will need a bit of experience at some point.
  19. My daughters talked me into doing a 10k in September. Never done any kinda distance run. I’m a 13st 52 year old who toddles about a gym twice a week. Is an hour a realistic target or am a better off just concentrating on finishing.
  20. Cheers! Thought Miller was not flamboyant and quietly went about his business. Lot of room for improvement tho. I just don’t think him and Gallagher worked well in the same midfield and one had to go. Was expecting a lot more from him considering the hype when we signed him. Time will tell.
  21. Kieran Millar and Dean Hawkshaw signed on. Im assuming part time. Happy with that.
  22. Would’ve been nice to relegate thistle via the play off, can but dream. Here’s hoping next season is more enjoyable than this that’s what keeps us going I suppose.
