Brauhaus, Bennets (both Tollcross & Morningside), Guildford Arms, Diggers, Windsor, Canny Mans are decent in Edinburgh off the top of my head.

Weird seeing The Abbey being mentioned positively, the guys I know who went to Uni in Edinburgh said it was known as an absolute dive filled with nutters only <10 years ago. Need to give it a shot.

Guildford, Abbotsford, Cumberland & Ryries are all owned/ran by the same people. All decent pubs.

My son is in Glasgow Uni, in halls up past the botanics - any boozer recommendations in the West End / Byres Rd / GWR area for the inevitable day we are thru and my wife wants to go shopping and I need an escape plan?

My knowledge kinda stops at Finnieston.

Without naming Finnieston pubs (which are better IMO) good ones in the Byres Road/GWR area are Tennents, The Aragon, The Doublet, Sparklehorse & The Belle.

Seeing as weddings usually involve inviting entirely families, who’s looking after the kids?

It’s entirely someone’s prerogative who they invite to their wedding but don’t act surprised if people tell you to ram it or leave ridiculously early because they don’t have childcare.

Never been to a wedding that’s been entirely family. Fortunately I don’t think we know that many people with kids anyway but I’d imagine people would be able to arrange a childminder like they would if they were going out as a couple otherwise. They’d be able to relax at the wedding without worrying about chasing after their kids the whole time, also they’d be leaving early if they had kids in tow either way as kids don’t typically stay up really late anyway. It also enables more friends/family to be invited.

edit: also no screaming children during ceremony, speeches etc.

    All upside, very little downside.

This is a misconception by both Dundee and United fans. The Dundee songs (which I don't participate in, mainly because I don't mind the place) are aimed at Dundee the place rather than Dundee FC the club.

The arabs joining in on the songs? I just thought its because most of them are from Angus/Perthshire.

Let’s be honest Tam, Dundee is fucking pish. The waterfront area that got loads of money plowed into it with the V&A (very underwhelming inside) looks decent, and the Perth Road has some good pubs. The Ferry is nice too but that’s not even technically part of Dundee. Aside from that the place is absolutely dire, and the people cut about with some of the worst accents in the country. I’d still rather live there than in Aberdeen though. Or Blairgowrie.

Back on topic, Motherwell look a good price this weekend for my weekly nailed on St Johnstone nil bet.

Getting out the groups would be a first and would definitely put him up there as the best in terms of performance at a tournament. He’d be doing that without having a Dalglish or the likes to call on either.

It would be nice for us, and make his CV look really good, if he could get us to a World Cup. That’s a bit of a tall order these days, but it would be nice.

If he manages both of those he’ll have matched the achievements of Super Rob Page.

I stand by the fact that Wales could play players exclusively from the National League and they'd still qualify for tournaments. Since 2016 they've been ridiculous at qualifying.

Obviously not a foregone conclusion at all but Croatia should be ashamed of themselves if they go from being World Cup semi-finalists, to winning their Nations League group, to then finishing below Wales’ ragtag bunch of Championship goons.

Wales into second in their group now as it stands with 2 games to go.

Games against Armenia (a) and Turkey (h) left. Turkey should’ve qualified already by then so there’s a decent chance Wales could still qualify. Some turnaround from looking dead and buried after being hammered by Armenia.

I get you can only beat what’s in front of you but Berti’s qualifying group was the biggest piece of piss ever.

He took over in January 2002, which would have been before the Nations League took place. Given his record against any remotely half-decent side, it's likely we would have struggled, and thus might not have ended up as 2nd seeds in our Euro qualifying group.

    I was being facetious.

Sore one to take last night but can I just point out that we're 2 games from the end of a campaign and not only are we right on the edge of automatic qualification but folk are actually hoping for results to go certain ways that will delay qualification to allow us to win the group.

Whit a difference from the Berti Vogts days eh ?

In fairness Berti would’ve taken us to Euro 2004 had the format of the competition been the same as it is today.

From reading other posts on here am I correct in saying you voted for Brexit?

If so then your barometer is, if I'm being generous, completely fucked when it comes to defining such things as least worst options...

Surely even the most ardent of New Labour haters would think voting this Labour over the Tories is a better decision than voting Leave over Remain?

I’m sure Granny Danger voted Brexit and then fucked off to live in Spain. Morally bankrupt hypocrite.

  11. Giving away free tickets isn’t necessarily a mistake. Plenty of clubs who can’t fill their stadiums do it - are Livingston, St Johnstone etc. devaluing their ‘events’ by giving free tickets away to school kids in the local area? I’m sure it’s how many people, including myself, initially started supporting these clubs.

I think that the free tickets need to be targeted at local schools, at girls youth football teams - things like that, in order to spark an interest in the women’s national team from a young age. SSC members should get discounted tickets but I find it hard to believe that thousands of them were firing on for a free ticket and then not turning up anyway. Regardless, anyone who wanted to attend last night, could have.

I think Kettins will finish second in the first. In the second I think Stanley will win it. Honestly aside from Breadalbane winning the league I can’t see any other big shocks tbh!

Imagining a poster on here becoming really famous before a spectacular cancellation, front page news, BBC documentary etc because they found all his posts on here saying 'wid' and 'boot her in the pie'.

Kenneth Williams gifs as evidence of their sex crazed, perverted mind.

It’s a slippery slope. One day you’re saying ‘wid’ and the next you’re lamenting ‘eyebrows being raised’ when you’re picking your 16 yo girlfriend up from school.
