  1. I presume it's a little too late for a last minute signing?
  2. Jesus, we fucking need it! Although it'll be a double edged sword. While Stubbs has made a bit of a pig's ear of recruitment, and the money will be bloody useful, the concern will be that clubs now know we have cash to spare and the prices will go up. McCall for example will be having little pound signs floating around him just now.
  3. I said as much previously and was roundly derided for having the temerity of holding such an opinion. I wish this place would make up it's mind..
  4. I am going to be unpopular here, (quelle surprise!) but I don't rate Paul McGinn that highly, I think he's solid but nothing great and certainly not going to improve. Smith however looks like he'll end up a considerably better player. It's a real shame we've missed out on him, if we have of course, as I believe he would have done well for us in this league. Would Smith come back, considering the manager's changed? Who knows. Could we afford his full wages, or match bids from other clubs? Possibly, possibly not. All this is just conjecture but if given the choice between McGinn and Smith, I'd go Smith every time.
  5. The statement is fine, it's just Ayr putting it out that every player has their price and that Ayr will be bargaining like a mofo because Shankland's on form. Understandable really. That said, McCall has spent almost the last 4 weeks raving about how fit he is, and that he's more than capable of playing higher up the league and wondering why no other clubs had taken him on.
  6. Got to say, that is disappointing if true. Not that Stewart was integral to our survival, but still... like many I saw some potential there. Stubbs could pull a rabbit out of a hat here and deliver with a couple of key signings in the forward area but I am beginning to have my doubts. Could we run on just Mullen and Cooke up front? Em, sure, but it would be pretty thin gruel. My only hope is that he is certain of players signing as whether he wanted Stewart around long term or it stills seems folly to let him go before that replacement has a scarf waved above his head. Who knows, maybe Stewart is/was keen to move?
  7. Going by Stubbs' comments both at the Q&A and on the radio, it wouldn't sound like he does. More that he expects he'll get something.
  8. I can give you a one word review: "Potential" If he does and when he does achieve that potential is entirely up to debate. He was loaned out to Alloa and did well in the 1st div so I suppose championship is the next one to test him. He never really got a run out for us in that league last season. I'd really hope so, as I think there is a player in him. I've heard several rumours of it being a full transfer. Not recently mind, and not in relation to Ross County.
  9. It's almost as if most "real" tweets aren't either fake or utterly rancid already
  10. Sure, it was more whether he'd still be considered a winger. Humphries must be on the "wrong side" of 30 by now, does he still retain his pace?
  11. So long as that isn't based on the Dumbarton game as he specifically set us up very narrow. Which, I'm sure you knew anyway, but thought I'd mention it. Is Flynn still counted as a winger these days? He certainly doesn't have the pace he once had, the same could be said for Humphries too though.
  12. He's always been fairly decent but is it midfielders we need?
  13. Oh, sure, I wasn't suggesting it would be us alone. I just wonder if the game against Burnley and I suppose the Celtic's game against Rosenberg would have maybe helped promote the league a little (as you say) which could swing things like Hornby choosing to come on loan to us. Not convinced him, I'm not suggesting it would be that strong an effect, but perhaps it's enough to pique his interest.
  14. Just musing here, but do you feel that Aberdeen's performance against Burnley (and the pretty decent atmosphere at Pittodrie) might help us with loan players from down South?
  15. If it helps you to think that, then I'm not going to burst your bubble. After all, that'll happen later in the season.
  16. ..and to continue this season. I reckon you'll be lucky to avoid the relegation battle. More so when Wright moves after getting annoyed at working with buttons. When did Killie get punted down to the lower leagues? Not recently. Anyway, you'd hardly call them a "big team". Sure they are top league regulars but don't have the spending power of the Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Glasgow clubs.
  17. Unfair? I'd say it's a pretty damned accurate picture just that some of your fans don't wish to admit it! Bottom line? Brown(s), Wright, et al, have all done an excellent job with St Johnstone. I have no axe to grind here. Obviously I am of the opinion that you've been punching above your weight for some time now and a readjustment will happen and that the club to benefit from that will be us. We'll just have to wait and see about that..
  18. I was going to say, it's not a verified twitter account and isn't connected to the club. While I'd be happy for there to be some substance to this, and there may be a kernel of truth to it, it's no different to the Rumours Mill on B&WA.
  19. So, just to clarify.. he's a player the fans and manager would happily see return to them, but because of the budget constraints you can only prioritise one position and that isn't the one Willock plays?
  20. Saintees claiming Willock was not what they wanted and that's why he's not back with them, while their boss mumps about how little cash he has to make any signings is cute.
