  1. I genuinely don't remember too much about the referee from the game. What I would say is I don't think it should've been a penalty. There may have been minimal contact but there's no doubt Vaughan went down' very easily. Actually, yes I'll go as far as to say he dived and I'd be raging if the same thing had gone against us. One slight thing in the ref's defence is that at full speed from the angle I was at it looked a stonewaller (I get that Morton fans at the other end were raging as they saw a dive from their angle) and the ref was the same side of the incident as we were (albeit a hell of a lot closer).
  2. It was no softer than the last minute one they got at Cappielow to win 1-0 last season.
  3. Can only assume if there has been something said it was behind closed doors. I actually went back to watch IM's post match interviews from both Morton matches so far this season and there was nothing controversial. A couple of comments after the first game could potentially be misconstrued but in my opinion he was having a go at his own team rather than Morton. He said they're a big physical team who make it difficult for you and that we failed to play well enough to avoid falling into Morton's game plan. Don't think there's anything wrong with that. As others have said, Rovers are in the limelight more now so we're there to be shot at. If Imrie wants to use this as motivation then fair enough. We have a title race to give us all the motivation we should need.
  4. If there is it's normally announced no more than a couple of hours before KO to encourage as many 50/50 punters as possible to buy a ticket. Maybe not as much of an issue this time around with £10 adult tickets.
  5. Ayr 1 - 2 Partick Thistle Dundee United 2 - 0 Airdrie ICT 1 - 1 Dunfermline Queen's Park 3 - 0 Arbroath Raith Rovers 2 - 0 Morton
  6. Don't see Corr going out on loan as you would want 4 CH's in the squad in case of injuries and suspensions.
  7. Adam Masson away on loan to Linlithgow Rose. Should be a really good move for him too. He really needs game time and should get plenty there.
  8. I'm also a rugby fan and my earliest rugby memory is his old man scoring the try against England for Scotland to win the grand slam in 1990. Strange that I'm watching him play for the first time on Calcutta Cup day. Hopefully, he has a really shitty football day but then enjoys the rugby later.
  9. One of the guys mentioned it in the podcast, but if Ayr are playing someone out of position at RB, then it's definitely worth bringing Easton back into the starting 11. There could also be a case made for bringing him on with 30 to go so he can then run at a RB who's out of position and tired. Trying to guess what team Murray will pick is never easy and this week is no different. I'm really hopeful that last Friday's season was the start of getting our season going again so will predict a hard-fought away win.
  10. Great move for him. Has some ability so should hopefully get decent game time.
  11. To be fait I was a wee bit disappointed by that too. The fact that there's been no announcement yet about us being moved to the stand (I'm sure it was announced a couple of days before the game last time and assume they need time to arrange stewards/pie stand staff etc if the terrace is being used), I assume that it wasn't actually too bad a number for that point of the week. Both clubs will have an idea of how ticket sales tend to go throughout the week and will make an estimate on the final number based on that. Also, changed my mind again now and I am going to drive through for this. I'll get home at about 6:30 instead of 8:15 if I took the train. Need to drive to/from the station at my end and couldn't even have train beers so the car wins....sorry environmentalists. Last time I drove to Somerset was a while ago. Is there still plenty of parking in the streets around the ground?
  12. After all of the talk, I might actually now get the train to this. Only £18.90 for a return for me and the wee man from Dunblane with the friends & family railcard (btw if you travel with kids it's definitely worth getting one). It also means I can watch the Calcutta Cup on my phone instead of listening to it on the radio in the car (yes, I also like eggball). If I'm not too worried about pre-match beers, I assume it's better to get off at Newton-on-Ayr.
  13. To be fair, even if he's fit I think Murray would be the player to miss out if Ashcroft comes in. He was better on Friday than he's been in a while but Watson is the more solid defender in my opinion. Him and Ashcroft in the middle with Dick and Brown either side could turn into a pretty good defence t this level.
  14. I actually got on well with him despite the football rivalry. I was once messing about with a mate at lunchtime and he grabbed me by the shirt, ripping the buttons off. The only thing anyone had that I could wear over the top was my mate's Dunfermline jumper. My first class in the afternoon.....German of course. I'll never forget the smile on Mr Cook's face when I walked in wearing it. I'm fairly sure he actually took a picture of me and put it on his wall (I'd imagine they wouldn't be allowed to do that now).
  15. A truly awful season for in so many ways for us. Losing 4 times to the Pars was definitely the worst part of it though. As crap as we were that season, if we'd won the 4 derbies instead of losing them, we'd have finished in the play-off and Dunfermline would've been relegated. I'm sure we would've just found another way to go down though with that clown Munro in charge. The lowest point of all was my German teacher (Mr Cook at Glenwood HS in case anyone else had him) being a Dunfermline fan and putting a big 4 on the wall (next to his match ticket) for my benefit after the last game.
  16. Partick Thistle 3 - 0 Dunfermline Arbroath 2 - 0 ICT Ayr 1 - 3 Raith Rovers Dundee United 1 - 2 Queen's Park Morton 2 - 0 Airdrie
  17. Agree with this 100%. It genuinely felt like we turned a corner on Friday. Having watched it back again on the iplayer, we weren't brilliant, but we were a hell of a lot better than we'd been recently. We also got back to where we were earlier in the season where we can change the course of a game with subs. Really important that we back it up with a result at Ayr though so hopefully as many Rovers fans as possible make the trip. I get that it's a pain of a place to get to by public transport, and of course not everyone can afford to go to away games, but a big noisy Rovers support can make a real difference.
  18. It's all about engagement. The post has 721k views and 187 reposts. I'd be surprised if the club hasn't monetised their twitter account so they'll actually make some money from this (probably not much to be fair but it all helps).
  19. It doesn't really bother me as I tend to drive but I can see why this might put off Rovers fans in Kirkcaldy. They're already having to change trains in Edinburgh and then again Glasgow. Add in another change at Prestwick and it may seem to much bother for some.
  20. So you just leave early enough to have a pint or three in Glasgow between trains....... In all seriousness I do get your point but it's always been frustrating to see as we take a decent support pretty much everywhere else (apart from Inverness but that actually is pretty bloody far).
  21. I'm hoping for at least 500-600 after Friday. If we can take 700 to Arbroath on a Tuesday night, surely we can take a similar number to Ayr on a Saturday...... Too many Rovers fans seem to have a real issue with travelling beyond Glasgow. Our support always seems to be fairly poor away to Ayr and Morton. People need to look at a map and figure out it really isn't actually that far away.
  22. Really looking forward to this after Friday's result. Another tough game but the players should be full of confidence having ended the poor run. Expecting a pretty decent travelling support to go down for this too. I suspect Scott Brown's screamer on Friday will result in at least double the number of away fans we would've had if we'd lost. I imagine Byrne will be a doubt for this with concussion protocols after taking a whack in the face on Friday. Scott Brown the obvious replacement. I would expect a couple of other changes in attacking areas too but hopefully the same back 4. Ayr will be confident after a good win but it did really feel like we turned a corner on Friday and I'm going to join Tx in predicting a Rovers win by a couple of goals.
  23. Just getting round to coming on here for the first time after the game. It was brilliant reading the comments during the match with the benefit of knowing the outcome. I thought United started better but we came into it and looked pretty dangerous going forward. Could (and probably should) have scored more before United started coming back into it and deservedly equalised. Second half we really seemed to just set up not to concede which is understandable with our recent form. Sat too deep which allowed United to just keep coming at us. It also meant that any time we tried to play it out to Rudden, the ball was coming from too deep and was easy for United to defend. If we'd been a bit further up then the balls may have gone over the top and given Rudden something to chase. The game started to turn with Hamilton's challenge on the keeper. Easiest decision the ref had to make all night but Hamilton knew exactly what he was doing. Rather than taking one for the team it felt like he was taking one for the crowd. The atmosphere in our end was brilliant from that point onwards. The substitutes then completely changed the pattern of the game. Brown added more energy in the midfield and Connolly and Easton gave the full backs some real problems. Don't really need to say anything more about the winning goal than WOW!!!!! Over the whole game a draw would've probably been a fairer result but I'll absolutely take it. Even before Brown's goal it felt like we'd turned a corner after our bad run and I'm hopeful we can go on a decent run now.
