  1. Week 40 update One death this week, footballer Francis Lee: Francis Lee obituary | Football | The Guardian His obituary also mentions this, which won't embed because it's age-restricted, so you know it's good: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UusOYTup5j0 Players accused of diving following it up with punches being thrown is something sadly lost from the modern game. Lee died at 79 so he's worth 46 Base Points for @dee_62, with a Solo Shot taking him to 96 points total. As a result, the standings look like this: 1. JustOneCornetto 405 2. psv_killie 376 3. 2. Philadelphia (1993) Tom Hanks gets bad AIDS and gets fired and hires Denzel Washington for the wrongful dismissal lawsuit. A film about a difficult subject which doesn't perfectly straddle the line between corny and emotional is still saved in its weaker moments by its leads. Note: I watched this on TV at half six in the evening so some of the saucier language was missing. Note 2: It's actually interesting to watch this and see that Tom Hanks can act. Then the year after this he did Forrest Gump. Woof. The Fugitive (1993) Harrison Ford is framed for the murder of his wife and Tommy Lee Jones is the US Marshal trying to capture him when he evades custody. Despite some... convenient plot contrivances which allow Han Solo to clear his name, this is a fantastic action movie with great performances throughout and a very grounded and realistic depiction of Chicago, where it was filmed and set. Note: A young, moany Julianne Moore is a nice addition. Psycho (1960) Even though I'd seen it before this is the sort of film it's impossible to see blind. I've seen The Simpsons, so I've seen large parts of this, shot for shot. And I know what happens anyway. And reading about it, the notion of it being scandalous because it features an unmarried woman in her underwear is quite funny. And some action/killing scenes are so obviously fake and badly acted they practically break the fourth wall. Despite all of this there's an undeniable tension watching this as you wonder when and how he's going to be rumbled.
  3. I was literally first in the door for New Order and agree with everything. Confidence Man wasn't my thing but they were very good. The stage seemed really high but we (just) got a decent view of everything. One complaint I had was the sound - it seemed to be all over the place from song to song. One minute it's fine then the next one Phil's guitar starts and it's twice as loud as everything else. I can't speak for all of the crowd but it definitely seemed er... of a certain demographic. Maybe that led to the lack of phones. I filmed the whole thing though and it'll be on youtube soon enough.
  4. Have the men in suits got to "FreedomFarter" after all his Alicia Kearns posting?
  5. They're all always doing a bit. But when it's that accent it's intolerable.
  6. I have some sympathy for Lancelot here, if the driver gets out the car after a bad session and is clearly upset maybe not trying to grab on to him is an idea.

    The Sopranos

Absolutely hysterical from start to finish.
  8. Rakow and Korona both relegated too. What a league.
  9. Is there a lot of variation in the teams that win trophies in Poland? It seems like you've had different teams to fight with each season.
  10. Before the sugar tax, orange Lucozade had about 50% of your daily recommended amount of sugar in it. This went down to ~16% after the tax came in. I didn't mind that new taste and I don't mind the new one either. It's still quite syrupy and tastes like an orange was involved somewhere in the manufacturing process, rather than just chemicals.
  11. Finally getting around to watching the highlights. Do you get the Gazprom games on your season book @DrewDon? What an atmosphere.
  12. The Vauxhall Astra once made Jeremy Clarkson eat his own hair:
  13. New Order at the Hydro tonight.
  14. Sneak up behind him then shout BEEP and see what happens.
  15. I know. I know this because years ago when I started posting on here I saw people say Graun or Grauniad - posters of a certain type - and I had no idea what they were talking about and had to look it up. Hideous patter that probably dates from the days of black and white. Get it to f**k.
  16. I was at a gig last week and a girl at the front had a book out to read before any bands came on. Freak.
  17. I did have a giggle when I saw the setlist and thought of that. Half the crowd raging, the other half giddy.
  18. He seems to have gone on a podcast and said he would have won the league the previous season.
