  1. I found Paisley 10k quite tough this morning. Set off far too fast and near the front for my current level of fitness. Finished fairly strongly to get under 44, which was the goal. Enjoyed it though, good course.
  2. Really enjoyed Livingston parkrun this morning. Good challenging course, not one for a pb. But I like the final 1km as you can judge how hard to run. 20.37 was good enough to get me 11th out of over 200, which is quite surprising. I think I could have went faster though with more course knowledge. Good friendly volunteers as expected. My legs are going to struggle round this 10k tomorrow, but I knew Im not in good enough shape for a good 10k just now anyway. Just try and enjoy it.
  3. I'll be running in my Morton shorts and Greenock Glenpark vest! The worst thing isn't having to look at St Mirren's ground on the way round, it's the big billboard of Mark Yardley across from it advertising his pies....
  4. Anyone doing Paisley 10k on Sunday? I'm just coming back from injury (possibly was shin splints, never got it diagnosed properly, but legs feeling OK now). I managed to pick up a number from someone in the club who can't make it. Won't be able to chase a pb, but looking forward to it. Ran this 2 years ago as a running n00b in 48.30, should knock 5 mins off that even in my current state. And if it's a disaster, it's not down as my name!!
  5. The front door to my work is a "Pokestop". Handy, but sadly my desk is too far away from it. The GPS seems to not work as well on the 4th floor... Also, most train stations are Pokestops. So the journey home on the slow train is handy!!
  6. I attended the first Linwood parkrun on Saturday. Good turnout for the first running, 175 runners I think! Really liked the course as well. Very flat, almost no incline whatsoever. Mostly ran on trails with some asphalt paths at the start and finish of the loop (2 loop course). My only concern would be that it is a narrow start and fast runners will need to be right at the head of the field to get off to a good start. I made it round in 19.45, so 10 seconds slower than last week at Greenock (having not ran in between due to studying). I get the feeling this could be a pb course for some. A member of my running club managed to be the first first finisher, with 17.03. Don't think that time will stand for long, but a good start. Also, the cafe in the sports centre is brilliant!
  7. Cheers. It's my home run, so I had to do my 50th there. They are good at recognising people who have milestones and announcing it. If your 100th was early on, hope it was still the same back then? They have the 50 shirts in stock so hopefully the link is up soon. Think I'll give Linwood a go this Saturday for it's inaugural running. Organised by a now former Greenock parkrun regular.
  8. Well done! It was my 50th yesterday as well. Done it at Greenock. I was hoping to have a go at my pb but the conditions were quite terrible. Horrible wind and rain into your face for the first mile, then again after the second turn. I still went as fast as I could and managed 19.35, 30 seconds out sadly. How long does it take to get the link n your profile to allow you to order the T shirt?
  9. As an avid hater of the Montreal Canadiens, I absolutely love that trade. PK Subban comes across very likable off the ice, and nobody can question just how talented he is on the ice. Still haven't forgiven him for trying to break Mark Stones wrist in the playoffs last year though. Good day for a Sens fan as well, seeing Montreal lose their star D man and Toronto not signing Stamkos
  10. 400-500 miles for me. But the last 2 pairs have started to come part around the 400 mile mark anyway
  11. Your point? Toronto's media slate everything about that team. They're a bit like the English media with the English national team. Build them up but as soon as something goes wrong, destroy them. It's great to see Kessel do well elsewhere and give it a big GIRUY to them
  12. Exactly this. I'd have loved a Sharks win, but they were lucky to not get swept in the series, Martin Jones to thank. Unusual to see the east coast side dominate a final so much. Delighted for Kessel, just shows what you can do when you escape the Toronto circus.
  13. Well done! I got it for April, just a shame it doesn't involve free shoes anymore
  14. Got myself a Greenock version of that t shirt. It's a belter!
  15. I got treated to Pink's "So What" as I passed, made me run a bit faster right enough!!
  16. PB of 1.35.20 at Edinburgh half for me yesterday. Had a wee slump at about half way, but I felt quite good fitness wise near the end. Only problem was sore feet. Combination of bad technique and shoes which are now getting binned to blame!
  17. I seen you as well somewhere along the stretch where you run past each other around 10 and 12 miles!
  18. Running Edinburgh on Sunday. So I was going to take the Dumbarton 10k easy last night, but to be honest I haven't done enough long runs to get a good time on Sunday anyway, so about 10mins before the race I decided to go for a PB! Ran it in 39.21, taking almost a minute off of my PB (last weeks 40.18 at Clydebank). Legs are sore today, so just going to hope that I enjoy it on Sunday and get round
  19. Well done! It was a strange wind, didn't feel like it benefited you on the way out, but it certainly hurt on the way home! Ha, and I ahve just realised that putting exact times up gives away identity! Oh well
  20. Successfully navigated the Clydebank 10k last week without the need for a toilet stop! Was aiming for sub 42mins, but after being 20.10 for the first 5k and still feeling OK, I dug in for the second half and finished in 40.18. A much faster time than I thought I was capable of. Looks like it was a great night for PBs, so well done all! Also, going by the 5k to 10k estimate of multiplying by 2.1, my 10k time told me my 5k should be a bit quicker. So I went full out at Greenock parkrun on Saturday morning and managed 19.05, with a good bit of wind hurting. 28 seconds off my previous time
  21. I have done that one as well! Sadly, on a slight alt route that day, but very nice in the shadow of the stadium. No food on offer that day either
  22. Greenock's 2nd birthday this Saturday if that's your thing! I'm hoping for a toilet stop free run at Clydebank 10k this Thursday, heard it's a fast route?
  23. Had a disaster at the Helensburgh 10k. Stomach felt a bit dodgy around the 5k mark (just after downhill stretch). Knew I was on course for a Paula Radcliffe, slowed down a bit and managed to starve off the real issues until 8k, where I bolted into a church hall and found a bog 5 minute pit stop roughly and a time of 47.51. I was round 5k in 20.40 so I was probably on course for about 42 mins, which would have been amazing. Weird thing is, I havent ran a 10k in 3 years, and not since I have been taking running a bit more seriously. So my time on Thursday was technically a PB... At least there is Clydebank this week to make up for it!!
  24. Anyone in for the Polaroid 10k's this year? Good deal getting 4 races, T shirt and sunglasses for £45 with SAL discount. I haven't done a 10k in 3 years, and I wasn't really into running when I done that one. PB is 48.30, but I have recently got parkrun times below 20. Should be looking at around the 42 minute mark I think?
