Read this last week. Quite disturbing story of an Aberdonian man conscripted into the army during World War 2 and his treatment as a prisoner of the Japanese.
Onto something completely different now ...
Really enjoying this touring diary type book by the brilliant James Yorkston. Would have finished it today but alas I seem to have lost it. Hopefully I have left it in work yesterday, if not I'll need to buy another copy just for the last chapter

I've read most of Pelecanos' books. They are pretty decent.
He wrote The Wire TV scripts too... or lots of it anyway.
Yeah, it mentions The Wire on the cover of the book. That wasn't a major issue in me reading the book to be honest as although I've heard it is great TV I must be one of the few who has never watched a single episode

not the last book I've read but the most enjoyable. I cannot scrawl back the huner odd pages to see if it's been recommended before but if youhaven't read this
get it for xmas or something man you'll pee your panites
Need to get that. I read 'Kill Your Friends' a while back after realising that the author was a guy I went to school with and lived on the same street as for years.
Just finished The way Home by George Pelecanos this morning. Got it for 75p in the local charity shop and mostly read it on journey to and from work. First book I've read by the author but enjoyed it enough to look out more of his stuff.

Was it rank? I always imagine it to be a bit too sickly. I tried Pomegranate Cider the other day. It was fucking delicious!
Wouldn't say it was rank, in fact far from it but I couldn't drink too many in the one go. Would probably be really nice ice-cold sitting in a beer garden on a hot day but still tasted nice last night when the rain was battering the windows. I fancy that pomegranate stuff, who makes that and where can I get it? Not really a fan of Magners but I do fancy the new ginger stuff. Need to look out for that as well. Got a bottle of Frank's alcoholic ginger beer in the fridge. Hoping it's better than the Crabbies.
Anyway I am drinking an ice-cold can of Carlsberg and a glass of Jura malt with a splash of malt. Got the new Bonnie Prince Billy album playing, it's pouring and very windy outside and I'm off work tomorrow. Doesn't get much better

Dunno if you've seen this site before or not. Loads of live bootleg stuff on it. A lot of it is no bad quality. A few Jam gigs on it.
Some good stuff on there. Thanks for flagging it up

I'm listening to one of their albums right now which I bought for £1 in the local charity shop yesterday.
