  1. If that's the case many Irvine Meadow , Beith , Kilwinning etc have not complied. Glenafton's are on same side but about 40 yards apart.
  2. Fantastic achievement. It's a wonder why Glens were always signing so many players with such talent coming through. Has Darren Miller signed yet lol
  3. So explain why he is playing amateur and played as an amateur with QP ?
  4. Aye he's a quality player mate. Free kicks corners deliveries into the area excellent. Don't expect him to chase back much though.
  5. Strange for a guy that played twice with Queens Park and currently playing amateur. Don't believe he would have got much at Albion Rovers either.
  6. Darvel have made some good signings and will be well favourites for the title but it can take time for so many players to gel. When Ladeside were in 1st Division under Swift he brought in guys like MacDonald , Dillon etc but were in relegation zone until an brilliant run of results brought promotion. Ex seniors don't always take to the juniors and every club will be out to beat Darvel. Pressure is on them they are expected to win every game in that division.
  7. Miller was brilliant season at Kilbirnie. Top scorer with 10 during run to Scottish quarters. Went to QP and was in team of season. Folk question him cause he doesn't run about tackling everything that moves which is a nonsense. His balance , passing and ability to find time on the ball are excellent and his whipped deliveries into the area so dangerous and productive. Does make some strange career moves but he's still young would have him at Kilbirnie no problem...as would Mcginto.
  8. Gormley had a short spell at Kilbirnie and was unfortunate not to get more games. Was disappointed when he played against us in West expected a bit more be interesting to see how he does in top league. Big Smith has the experience , getting slower on the turn but still a potent weapon leading the line. Any striker not having assists is not really much of a team player though.
  9. Has to be more to it than a player of his ability moving to lower leagues of West juniors for a few extra bob. David Anderson played with Kilbirnie caused he loved the club and the people he could have remained senior at many a club. There's no doubt that it's the manager attracting the players to Darvel just as he attracted best players to Colvilles. Doubtful Knapp would have left ammies for any other junior club any other manager. Kennedy seems to be well regarded by players at all levels.
  10. Well done. Thought Glens were going to stay in that league the rest of their history. .....and a grass park yaaassss.
  11. These two would be good signings and the two of them could be doing with regular fitba. Doesn't always work out signing best mates. Swift never got best out of kev MacDonald , Dillon , Barr etc at Kilbirnie. Need to strike right balance. Some guys can't take criticism from mates.
  12. Good post. Folk on here seen to have the impression that you have conquered amateur and are now setting about attempting to do the same in the juniors lol. Personally a have a lot of respect for you leaving a level where you could continue achieving and moving on to challenge yourself at a higher grade , many wouldn't. There is no doubt that guys like playing for you and that is a massive compliment and a huge plus when it comes to recruiting players no matter the level. Best of luck to you bud. Yeah Liam has done well coming in at Kilbirnie he has instilled a lot of positivity and belief and what wearing the shirt means. No doubt he will be looking forward to developing his own squad next season.
  13. Bringing public park guys into juniors en masse is nothing new Ardeer and Saltcoats do it regularly lol. Hurlford used Hyster when they returned to the fold after taking a season out the game. Colvilles have top ammies many ex juniors , many of them preferred ammie due to time demands of the juniors or because they liked playing with their mates or even playing Sunday pub fitba. Winning cups with best players in ammies is one thing giving Tommy Sloan sleepless nights in juniors is another lol quite sure Kennedy realises that , will be a good test of his ability. Does Kennedy know much about the juniors ?
  14. Be interesting to see how Kennedy does at Darvel. If he can attract guys on 80 at Kilbirnie to play ammie for nowt there's no saying what he can achieve lol. Thought Kev MacD would have joined his mate Swifty in management. Kilbirnie were interested in Hurlford Thistle's Hughie Houston ( a ten year former player ) a few managers ago lol but when you are once again in a Scottish semi it's difficult to leave. Darvel were a excellent successful club 70s to middle 80s some wonderful players like Leckie ,Wylie etc Scottish final , semis. Had some right difficult times since then , few would begrudge them a return to competing with the top clubs again. Always enjoyed visits to Recreation Park , many a beer in the old social club lol
  15. Class statement. Obvious the people involved in all the great work going on have a love for their club and are keen to see it prosper on and off the pitch . Exciting times ahead for the club and local community it seems. The very best of luck to all involved.
  16. Wee bit late. Good friend Ginger Blastie had that text well early this morning
  17. Henry Dumigan is a real nice guy. He is a legend at Talbot and junior football. He has seen his club advance from the dire straits they were in to becoming the top club in the juniors. Can fully understand a man like his reluctance to leave the grade his club have enjoyed for over 100 years and move into the unknown. However it's sounds like he would be happy to bring back the Cumnock and Doon Valley Cup rather than go into a level where his club winning trophies each season would come to an end. He says it's not lack of ambition but honestly sounds simply self preservation. Most junior folk believe the Talbot would be one of junior clubs to excel in a pyramid obviously not the view of Talbot committee. It's strange that the very people you look towards taking the juniors into a new dawn turn out not to be ones.
  18. Excellent. The baw is now with the Sfa. About time they were forced to incorporate all clubs into their ' pyramid '.
  19. Nonsense. If they don't want to embrace the pyramid concept f**k off out of it just like the juniors
  20. Iain McQueen is former manager of Kilbirnie and Dalry , assistant at Beith , Winton Rovers and former general manager of Irvine Meadow. His brother is Gordon McQueen ex Leeds ,Man Utd , his neice is Hayley McQueen of Sky. He is a good guy , knows his stuff.
  21. Colville have far more ex juniors than Hurlford. Do you really believe guys like Chrissy Craig , Darren Miller are playing to have their kits washed ? Both have played for Kilbirnie recently and a can assure you they don't come cheap.
  22. Perhaps turning the pitch and selling off spare land. They will have plenty to sell. Know they had considered it , committee man told us a few season's back.
  23. Fair chance that may happen. However if you remember the East/West merger proposed by the SJFA left the North Region kinda superfluous to the future of the juniors. Never expect the expected from the blazers nobody will be allowed to hinder their continued existence.
  24. How can GLESGABOY be Johnston ? TJ cannae work the internet ffs
