  1. While I'm in the keep Neilson for the time being camp, the reaction to a bit of spray paint on a tacky monoblock crest has been funny to watch. 10 minutes with a spray hose lads, have some perspective.
  2. Aberdeen and Hibs turned their corners eventually. We need to turn ours against St. Mirren otherwise we're in bother. We should aim to win at least 7 points before the split.
  3. In his defence, it's the DoFs job to find players to fit his system and our recruitment was bad this summer, aside from Shankland and it's a distinct possibility that him and Lewis Neilson are the only one's he's identified himself. Kio and Grant just aren't good enough. You're going to struggle if you're powderpuff in the middle of the park. I'm not excusing Neilsons shortcomings but you have to disentangle what he is and isn't completely responsible for. And it's worth remembering that we're still in the driving seat for third with a more favourable run in.
  4. If there's one thing that all of us should agree, it's that this would be the appropriate conclusion to the season. Everyone is rancid and nobody deserves the prize of European group football.
  5. The only thing folk from Aberdeen take to the woodshed is.... Ah forget it.
  6. You're supposed to say something defensive about the Dons being sad for spending time on here ripping the pish instead of enjoying their win.
  7. I couldn't get a ticket organised in time unfortunately. Pain in the arse as I would be looking forward to it. Didn't fancy sitting in the home end. A draw would be fine. I suspect it'll be like the last game up there, the side that takes its chances will come out on top. Still get shivers thinking about Cochraine and Shankland's misses.
  8. You've found a way to explain how you've been cheated out of 30 in a row. I bet you'd love to win 30 titles in a row, you'd see nothing hollow in that. How do you explain season 93/94 when you finished 4th though? My father is a Celtic fan. My mother is from Coatbridge, her mother's family are all Irish. I didn't have to support Celtic as well and I don't. Not sure why that's nuts.
  9. There is a way of helping football leagues across Europe become more competitive but the elite clubs are more like businesses now desperate to hoover up as much cash as possible so the gap between the haves and have nots will likely be bigger than ever in 20 years. You could have two Separate half seasons, one with the OF involved lasting about 18 games and the other without, where they fuckoff to play in a Euro league. Whatever their prize money is from Europe they kick back 50% to their domestic league to be divided equally. If that was the setup, the likes of Hibs, Hearts and Aberdeen would have an outside chance at a Scottish league title once every ten years or so and then we'd all have fun battling for the second half of the season title. Don't ask me the finer details of this daft idea because I've not worked it out.
  10. Who's finding £1m to get a player like Hatate? Ignoring the £30k a week in wages, the question whether a player of that calibre wants to play for Hearts, Hibs or Aberdeen and not play in the Champions League. And ignoring the money you need to spend on staff scouting or a manager who knows that market. Obviously also ignoring all the big money they spent on all their other players, of which they can bring 5 off their bench now to turn the screw late in games.
  11. The gap 25 years ago, 97/98 season, was 5 points between 2nd and 3rd. The O'Neill/Advocaat/McLeish years saw complete and previously unseen dominance as the finances of the game changed with respect to European tv money, commercial revenues etc. Since then it's swung between total dominance of the Old Firm and small windows of a season or two where there's transition and a non OF side can snatch a trophy. Then Rangers died and Celtic became weak in response and there was a number of years where others could win cups. The 'return' of Sevco Rangers to the top flight and Rogers era Celtic brought back total domination again. Brief window where Celtic hired Lennon for a laugh aside, it's likely that this will continue and widen from here on in. measuring non OF club success by trophy haul is becoming more and more absurd. Many Hearts fans are going tonto because we didn't lay a glove on Celtic in the last double header. They've literally got 8 times the amount of cash compared to us. You want Neilson emptied because of that? The problem is that people just haven't caught up with the new extreme reality of our game.
  12. Why would he need an excuse? Losing 3-1 at Parkhead is a good return for 10 of the teams in this league. Your manager has spent tens of millions in transfers and players earn 7-8 times more in wages than ours.
  13. More one for the club legends thread I'd have thought.
  14. Maybe a couple of sub categories, The unlikely hero ala Conrad Logan. Hibs fans must have looked at his playing history and his appearance and wondered what they were getting. Players that have unexpectedly gone onto a meteoric rise such as James Maddison (no idea of he actually fits the bill for Dons fans)
  15. Craig Beattie. His semi final will probably remain the best I've ever felt at a football match. For me it eclipsed even the final in 2012. That penalty was an out of body experience, I was close to tears of pure joy.
  16. That was about 14 years ago, Hearts was a few years ago. You'll find his contacts in the game are not what they were.
  17. DoF would be the worst decision given that signing players and negotiating sales is Levein's weakest trait. I look forward to reading through this thread in 12 months when you're mid table in the Championship.
  18. If only there was a third option instead of Scottish footballs worst manager Levein and Scottish football's best manager Ferguson. He's a part of the BBC boys club. Truly astonishing that he's even in the frame for another club in Scotland's top two tiers. What he did to Hearts surpasses Lennon blowing the ten by a significant margin. He signed 96 players and I can think of about 3 who were good enough for Hearts.
  19. That's what I meant. You need 3 Scottish cup wins and 3 participations (1 to go) in Euro group stages in 30 years to be considered big time. I don't make the rules. Well I did but it's just common sense.
  20. I didn't realise that Motherwell had managed it too. What's more impressive is that you were best of the diddies 3 years on the bounce which is something we've not achieved since the 1950s I think. Maybe you should build a Stuart McCall statue, he gave you the play-off victory in year 4 as well.
  21. And two more draws makes us 5 points clear of you after a bad start having played an extra old firm game. Or do draws not count just like last week when you were saying goals where a hearts striker hits it and hopes it goes in don't count? Attaining more than 70 points has only been done a few times by non old firm teams in the last 30 years. That makes it an exception to the norm. Nobody is finishing top 2 so 3rd place is all any of us have to get excited about aside from cups.
