Lets try and sign Magennis.
We can perhaps put in bids for Gavin Reilly, Cammy Smith, Liam Smith and Gary MacKenzie while we’re at it.

I was listening the Misery Hunters season review and found the conversation about the way supporters treat our youth graduates when they make their way into the first team very interesting.
It got me thinking about the latest crop of youngsters in the squad and which ones could really force their way into the team regularly.
Among this current crop we've got some strikers - which I don't really ever recall from us before - and I have concerns that if they don't start scoring 10-15 a season, a section of the support will turn on them - similar to the way they did with Jack Baird and Marc McAusland - which I really hope doesn't happen. Evean more recently, there were ones giving Erhahon a hard time.
Don't get me wrong, this is usually from "yer da" types, who think anyone who comes through the ranks should be a diehard supporter and whenever anythign goes wrong, they're to blame. A nonsense.
As for the upcoming season, I've got high hope for young Fraser Taylor. In his fleeting glimpses towards the tail-end of last season, I liked what I saw. He's very tidy in possession and plays the simple pass and just keeps possession of the ball. He's a very calm on the ball for someone so young. The obvious roadblock for him could be his size - or lack of - but I really hope he gets more opportunities this season.
It does feel like a wee while since we brought a very successful one through - like a McAllister, Morgan, Mallan, McGinn, McLean etc. I know we had Erhahon last year, but he had be in and around the squad for a couple of seasons and things only really seemed to start clicking for him last season.
Who do we reckon will be the next one to burst onto the scene and into the first team regularly?

Arborath, Montrose, Forfar and Cowdenbeath in the League Cup then.

I don't think there's anything to suggest he can't go for high six figures plus add ons. We need to realise he only has a year left though.
£500k or above would be enough to get him I reckon.

Baccus will not go for £1million. Mental to suggest he would.

Voted for Yogi, just because I don't see Kevin Thomson listed.

Honestly, I wouldn't be overly coincerned if Baccus goes.
Very good player, but he just hasn't hit the heights since the World Cup. He may be carrying a knock or simply running on empty, but at this point, he's not exactly irreplacable.
Strain, on the other hand, would be very hard to replace. I'd be gutted to lose him this summer.

Grieve is also in the New Zealand squad to face Sweden and Qatar.

I still say we need a 35 goal a season striker. Forget the 15 goals pish, not good enough.

I don't actually mind Sutton. Behind all his obvious wind-up tactics, he at least knows most of the teams in the league.
However, Kris Boyd likes to think he knows the rest of the teams, but we all know he's there for one team.
If you stuck Sky Sports on without having any idea who James McFadden is, you'd be excused for thinking they had dragged a clueless punter in off the streets for the job. He adds f**k all. His "analysis" is fucking woeful.

Why the f**k did the ref think that was a red to begin with?
Nothing about it suggested a red. Yellow all day long.

That was a penalty.
But it also wasn’t a clear and obvious error.

Was he? He was starting every game at the business of the season - 8 out our last 9 I think - and he had a new deal on the table.
If Robbo didn’t want him it would have been very easy to freeze him out and release him. Instead, he played him every week and offered him a new deal.
A brutal - but not a surprising - knock back. You seem to be getting yourself in knots over this. You mention he played 8 of the last 9. Why did he play? How many games did he start in the 29 matches before that. Joe was excellent for us, but he would have been a back up centre back next year and has taken the 2 year deal where he will almost be guaranteed to start most weeks.

From the outside looking in you guys have a brilliant manager and it looks to be an exciting time to be a Buddy.
Good luck lads.Make no mistake about it, he will be outpaced by virtually every striker in the league - and will give up a few goals as a result. If you lads sign another CB with a decent amount of pace that would see you get the best of Joe. He will 100% make mistakes, but in terms of straight up defending - tackling, using his strength and winning headers - he will do a good job.
If it’s another CB with no pace, you’ll be bang in trouble.

I’d rather have kept Joe and shipped out some of our defenders.
Like?

Shaughnessy is a very good signing for Dundee.
That said, I’m not overly fussed to see him go. A good top flight defender, but hardly irreplaceable if we want to kick on next season.
When all out defenders were fit, Joe was third choice, but was crucial for us in the run in to the split as the injuries piled up.
To Dundee fans, you’re getting a good experienced pro - comfortably one of the best defenders among clubs in the bottom 6. He’s also apparently very good around the dressing room with the younger players. A very steady, reliable and experienced signing. Good bit of business.

Shaughnessy did get his maths degree last year and I did wonder if when his cointract expired he may look to go part time and start putting his degree to use.
Cracking player though and could certainly still do a job on the bottom half of the league or he'd stroll the Championship.

I was on the fence when Tait signed, it appeared as though his best days were behind him.
However, he has been excellent for us. Very unlucky with bad injuries this season plus that fact Strain has been so good.
Good player and best of luck to him wherever he end up next.

McGrath wouldn't get anywhere near our starting 11.
Liam Smith would be a decent squad player. Not much else from those United releases that I'd even entertain TBH.

If clubs are willing to pay what O'Hara, Baccus and Strain are actually worth then we're in no position to be turnig down any offers.
I'm hoping we don't do our usual and just bend over backwards at whatever the first offer is.
I'd imagine we'd be looking for roughly £750/1million for Strain and £500-750k each for Baccus and O'Hara.
Of the 3 I have mentioned, I'd be most comfortable losing Baccus.

I think we'd be better suited to signing a 35 goal a season striker, rather than 15 goals.
15 just isn't as high as 35.

Would have had young Fraser Taylor in the starting 11, but happy with that line up for what is a glorified friendly.

I also forgot to mention that I very much liked the look of young Taylor when he came on.
He seemed confident enough to take the ball and try and make things happen. He gave the ball away once or twice, but that didn't seem to knock his confidence at all.
I wouldn't mind him getting a start on Saturday.

My initial reaction to the tackle was yellow tbh, but the replays are horrid.
Dare I say that was a win for VAR last night.
I will say that I'm not convinced Small has went in with the intention to hurt Miovski - but it was a shocking tackle and my initial reaction to it was that it was a red card.
I initially thought Small had lunged in and stamped down on the inner poart of Miovski's foot, but the replay shows that it was even higher than that. It seemed to be on the ankle or perhaps just above the ankle, which is obviously far more dangerous and put the player at much higher risk of serious injury.
Has there been any word on Miovski's status. I'd be amazed if that's not at the very least torn ankle ligaments.
I like Small and see a lot of potential in him - but the boy is fucking stupid. He was booked twice in 15 seconds at home to Killie and now this. He needs a proper stern talking to from the manager. It's not good enough.

What a season it's been. So enjoyable.
Gutted to have missed out on Europe with games to spare, but that's our own fault. Shite results at home to Killie and then failing to put Hearts to the sword twice has really cost us.
That said, what a team and what a manager.
We've been unlucky that almost our entire attack has been sidelined with injury all at the same time in the final handful of games - but it was results like the 2-0 defeat to Killie last month that have done us.
Loads to be positive about ahead of next season and I'm already looking forward to it.
Let's finish it with a flourish on Saturday please and bring down the curtain on a great season.

I think de Vries might actually be a bigger diddy than Mazepin. That takes some doing.
