  1. Lol no argument here. You'd be as well eating the wrapping as the donner. Also, no chilli sauce. What a weirdo.
  2. For all we know he could be on the perfect diet all month and this is a rare treat. I doubt it, but it's possible.
  3. Not at all, I totally agree with you. It was very good indeed and considering how long ago it was (and especially the subject matter) its amazing that it still has so much impact on people.
  4. A Brave New World - Aldous Huxley Set in London in the future (2540) in a world where humans no longer reproduce. Everythign is done in a lab and humans are 'bred' into certain roles (alphas, Betas etc. ) with the embryos etc. being conditioned with xrays etc. Even emotional responses are conditioned from birth. Happiness over free will. Follows the story of an Alpha who doesnt fit in and feels inadequate in his social circles. WIthout spoiling it he goes on holiday and ends up finding a Savage (born in the conventional way) who heads back to civilisation and trys to intigrate. An excellent read. Im really enjoying my dystopian sci fi books at the moment (although some might argue this is actually utopian I guess). The Minority Report - Philip K Dick Another one of Dicks short stories that was the basis of a Hollywood movie. I never did get round to watching the movie but I must say that I really enjoyed the book. Basically its about a company that uses precogs to predict crime before it happens and punishes the 'offenders' before they get the chance. Thinking about moving on to Catch 22 next but Im not sure... Nightshift has its perks
  5. Finished Fahrenheith 451- Ray Bradbury I thought it as a very good read. The themes of censorship and dumbing down/control are still as relevant today as when it was written. Shorter than I expected but I loved the ending.
  6. Alex Ferguson - My Autobiography I actually really enjoyed it. Despite a few factual inaccuracies (Keane being with Man Utd for 12 years instead of the stated 11) it was an interesting read. I finished it in a couple of days which is unusual for me for a book (especially when Im at work). His stories about the Class of 92 were a particular highlight for me. Philip K Dick - A Scanner Darkly Started reading this a month or so ago but just got round to finishing it due to looking to move house and getting everything prepared etc. Anyway I thoroughly enjoyed it as I do with almost every Philip K Dick book. He just seems to manage to build a world with characters you genuinely care about. Alot of Sci Fi can be to 'Epic' for my liking but his books seem to concentrate more on people (or a small group of people) in a sci fi setting. I havent seen the movie either so didnt know what to expect. I prefer reading the books first. I've now moved on to Fahrenheit 451. Seems promising so far (just about 10% in)
  7. I have no issues with us paying off debts and not adding to the squad. Makes sense to me. What pisses me off is the board letting us get into the debt time after time despite paying low wages and mainly playing kids. It's a disgrace.
  8. I decided on A Scanner Darkly. About 30% through it and enjoying it alot I l'll keep Solaris in mind for my next one, thanks.
  9. I recently read World War Z and thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought it was very well thought out and in particular the different ways the countries dealt with the infestation. I have now moved on to The Zombie Survival Guide - Max Brooks. Again Im enjoying it and some considerable thought has been put into it. I also like how zombie attacks have been written into past famous events/civilisations etc. Probably move away from the Zombie theme after this one though. Dont want to sicken myself of it. Philip K Dick again maybe? Or back to the prequel to Wool? Not sure. Any suggestions?
  10. Yeah that's where my girlfriend lives. Also found a few Geocaches near there too.
  11. I'm more of a cat person but I was asked to look after my girlfriends parents dog for a week. I was happy to do it and enjoyed going out for long walks during the day with him. He's a 1 year old Golden Retriever called Dexter. Cracking dog with a great nature and very well behaved considering he's just over a year old.
  12. They might've looked just like that when alive.
  13. Brilliant thread by the way. The special bull had me in tears laughing.
  14. Lol just realised I put this in th wrong thread. Sorry.
  15. I decided to bake bread to go with it. I'll bung it in the oven soon. Cheers.
  16. I've decided to try UTNs pulled Pork. It sounds awesome. It been in for about half an hour so far. Looking forward to dinner already! Any suggestions of what to have with it?
  17. Stewing steak diced Pork and Ale Sausages cut up. Carrots Onions Peas Sausage and Ale sauce. Salt Pepper 5 hours in slow cooker on high then into an oven dish, cover with pastry and oven cook on 200 deg c for 20 mins. Easy and tasty.
  18. I was there a few years ago for the Xmas markets. Bus down to Hull then the Ferry across. It was great. The Xmas markets in the main square with all the lights gave the place a 'magical' feel.
  19. You might not have to but it was really nice. I think that the slow cooker intensifies the chilli flavours a bit like marinating or sometimes like when reheating food the next day... it can be tastier due to the flavours mixing better. Also it meant that the food was already prepared for my girlfriend getting in from work without me having to hang round and cook it at that specific time. And the house smelled amazing all day.
