I vaguely remember this, not so long ago right enough: MacKinnon fancied himself as a bit of a hard man, but was more of a thug. Nonetheless, didn't he go down injured after this incident, while young Matt Henvey attempted to play on?

From Hugh Taylor's Scottish Football Book, 'Wee' Willie Henderson and 'Wee' Jinky Johnstone.
Great pals off the field, beside being Old Firm favourites, in their later careers they played for Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United respectively. Willie was one of the last people who spoke with Jimmy prior to his death at 61 from MND.

That was a game which further drained my enthusiasm for football.

I'm wondering how the crowd will react if United are struggling today, and I have to admit Raith's form has hit my confidence quite a bit. Hopefully the Tannadice staff are a bit more professional than me.

Reminicent of a Velázquez painting or one by his fellow countryman Goya, here is Billy Bremner reclining in May 1972, perhaps after the centenary Final at Wembley where Leeds defeated Arsenal thanks to a thunderous header from 15 yards by Allan Clarke.
Looks like a crumpled Embassy packet in the foreground left, while an ashtray lurks beside Billy's bed. Details like these make this image a true work of art.

Stenhousemuir is the most boring club in Scotland.
Kind of just there. Swap between the 3rd and 4th tier every now and then. Over 50 years since anything of interest happened to them and that was nearly getting kicked out the league for being boring.
i bet not one person even thought about Stenhousemuir before I mentioned them,

Aye, apart from @stu2910 in the original post. Give the bookies a miss for a wee while, @Jim McLean's Ghost

United had a strong line up for that match, and a young Jimmy Page (not that one) came on to replace Reilly in the second half.
His starting debut, a few months later in April 1984, lasted around 30 seconds, Tommy Boyd breaking his Page's leg with a wild challenge. A talented winger, Page never recovered from that incident, and after sporadic appearances over the next 3 years, he retired from the game aged 22.
You'll see his injury here, early in the match:

Thus the 'point of Labour' appears to be to slip into government and keep the seats warm until, once again, the Conservatives make themselves ready for government.

Apparently he swore in frustration and the referee thought he was swearing at him.
I thought it might have been that, no wonder he may have been swearing given that carthorse McGachie had just assaulted him.

Pittodrie in 1937. I think this is from an Aberdeen v Inverness Thistle match, Scottish Cup tie in a January blizzard, 2,800 brave souls witnessed a home 6-0 win.
Duns v Dons in 1954, 0-8. Only 700 watched Aberdeen vanquish 'The Dingers', including an away support of 6.

Still feeling OK about the League? A dip in form would be welcome...of course, sooner or later it'll hit us too, but it's got the makings of a fun season long struggle.
f**k me, they're taunting us now!
I'm thinking (hoping?) the players need a focus to bring them back to form, perhaps the contiguity of Raith Rovers is just that.

I thought Smart Osador was one of the least smart players I'd ever seen in terms of understanding the offside rule, then McGachie replaced him as the dumbest guy on the pitch. That point where he launched the extra ball out of the park would have been his second booking for me (ungentlemanly conduct). And when he showed a single bit of interest in the match and some skill, he decides to dive.
Anyone have any clarity on the Alan Brown sending off? It seemed bizarre.

That area in front of the main stand: is it likely to cause issues with the playability of the Cappielow surface on Saturday?
(PS, to be a pedant, 'The Arabs' isn't the team).

C’mon The Rose
OK, you've had 2 penalties against, I think, while the officials have been too afraid to countenance giving any such decision against Celtic or Sevco.

Maybe when you are doing your school sums homework you should tell us the number of penalties given against said teams.
Why?

I was stunned, stunned, to see Bonnyrigg are competing with 'the Old Firm' (8&7) on penalties awarded in League fixtures this season, they have had seven. And yet, they sit outside the play-off places in League Two.
There goes that argument that the top teams attack more, and will obviously be awarded more penalties as a result. Bonnyrig have a 100% record of netting them, better than the dreadful duo, which contributed an astonishing one-third of their goals (21 scored). And another successful penalty on Saturday won their Scottish Cup tie at Cliftonhill. Defender Neil Martyniuk has netted all 8.
It'll be interesting to watch them in the box on Saturday.

To echo @Sarto Mutiny and @captainkev above, Goodwin's stock has been lowered over the past wee while. It's not just the dreadful cup (various cups) performances, when the pressure was on after the split last year his side came up short.
I'm hoping that the league record this season isn't simply down to getting better players in than other clubs *, but that Jim Goodwin has contributed to the side in a major way as well. We'll find out soon enough.
* credit to Goodwin for his part in recruitment, of course.

It's odd to see Qos fans hoping for a heavy defeat, and I can't see that happening in any case. I'll be happy with a narrow United win and no more injuries.
Think Jack Newman will be in goal, jack Walton was kept on the pitch last Friday needlessly having been injured.
One thing I'll agree with home supporters about: having watched Marvin Bartley's post match interview last week, he talks without thinking of the consequences. It would have been interesting listening to his approach in the dressing room this week.

Aye, and it'll involve VAR.
I'm fairly relaxed about today, obviously hoping for a win but a draw or defeat may awaken Ogren to the realities of Scottish soccer.
