  1. The only place I have ever seen that being discussed is on here. There has been nothing in league press releases and the mainstream media about it as far as I am aware. Think it would have rated a mention if it was being actively negotiated at the moment. Something that looks nice if you are into imagining new league structures but maybe not so good if you are the one having to do the extra driving when you could otherwise be playing most of your games in either the immediate Dundee or Aberdeen areas.
  2. It was designed exclusively for athletics rather than football. Think you were supposed to take the hint and steer well clear. Hope the new stand on the other side actually happens because otherwise it will be difficult for your club to sustain SPFL level football.
  3. Not convinced on the subject to agreement between the leagues thing posted above. The only such agreement that has been announced publicly so far is between the EoS and WoS, and this wouldn't be a case of moving between SJFA regions like Montrose Roselea did which needs notice of one season and approvals in terms of the SJFA constitution.
  4. I suspect Division Three might wind up having to have conferences if all the Division four teams wind up in it, but this years A, B & C are definitely gone.
  5. Edinburgh Uni 2-1 up according to the Lowland League website. Edit: now appears to be the confirmed result.
  6. Good luck trying to get a majority of WoS clubs to ratify that at an AGM so very much doubt it. It's easy to see how Threave could benefit from this switch of leagues, but not so easy to see how the WoS does. Maybe it helps get rid of the SoS at tier 6 down the road but are clubs going to focus on that angle or on whether they fancy a trip down to Castle Douglas on the proverbial rainy Tuesday night in January? Campbeltown Pupils getting voted into full membership at the next AGM will be an interesting one to watch for similar reasons. Should happen in pyramid terms but the member clubs ultimately get to decide.
  7. ...using large industrial scale fans to blow radioactive waste over Estonia was another of Zhirinovsky's more bizarre policy suggestions.
  8. Could they trust the ML not to put them in a second tier, if having 20 clubs meant a move to 10-10 next season? They were one of the big wave of defectors from the east region after all. Think there are reasonable arguments to be made both ways and it's not clear cut where the Perth area teams would be better off long term. If anything, I would have thought it would be more Luncarty and Kinnoull that might want to move back to a Tayside format to keep things more local, while the EoS premier gives Jeanfield a higher playing standard than the ML would with much less daunting travel than the HL.
  9. Yes but he is also alleged by some people in Russia to have several body doubles that sometimes do his public appearances for him who have been given nickames like Udmurt or Kuchma based on what ethnic group or well known politician they are supposed to look like. Probably bollocks but Russians seem to be willing to believe all kinds of weird and wonderful stuff about what their government gets up to. One thing I found interesting was that during a work related trip I made to Russia a few years back the Russians I was with appeared to be completely convinced that Stalin left Moscow when it almost fell to the Germans at the start of the war for a bunker in a city we were in called Samara and were discussing it like it was a generally known fact. To this day that's definitely not the official version of what happened that appears in the history books. When I pointed that out "nobody really knows for sure" was the response I got.
  10. Still only a longshot possibility on current form requiring the top two to bottle it because Fraserburgh only need three wins out of games at home against Forres, Lossie & Wick, plus away games against Rothes & Strathspey to surpass Brechin's maximum points total of 85, while Buckie have enough of a goal difference advantage to probably be able to finish higher than them with three wins out of home games against Strathspey & Wick, and away games against Clach, Deveronvale & Forres.
  11. So up next in the SCC quarterfinals is Bonnyrigg Rose away on April 2nd.
  12. He's almost certainly being sarcastic with that because of how blindingly obvious it is that the cup game would be rearranged if there is a fixture clash with the pyramid playoffs.
  13. Putin demanding gas payments from "unfriendly states" in rubles is one to watch. Short term it helps him shore up his currency but it makes it even more likely that the EU will go through with transitioning away from trade with Russia.
  14. Any time I've had to listen to this stuff I've always asked them to explain how if the referees and linesmen are so biased against them they managed to do nine in a row through the worst years of the Troubles in the late 60s and early 70s when social tensions in the central belt were probably at an all time high. Yet to receive a sensible answer as it requires the officials to not only be blatantly biased but also completely inept at stopping them from winning trophies. Cognitive dissonance, Ya Bass!
  15. Devils lanterns in place, dressing rooms not as distant as was the case with Letham from the railed off pitch so would have potential from a licensing standpoint but some work to do to further enclose in EoS terms similar to the issues Thornton Hibs, Kirkcaldy YM and Inverkeithing HS faced: https://www.google.com/maps/@56.3220252,-3.027871,3a,75y,223.87h,81.29t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s3LumbkLPtCciYZCOpr-rwQ!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?hl=en Have to wonder whether the Midlands League might be more attractive from a travel standpoint given how West Lothian oriented the bottom tier of the EoS is still going to be, but would be a good local derby game for St Andrews United if it ever happened. Think it would have already happened by now if it was going to.
  16. Reasonable point but worth noting they are still only 6 points back of Gretna with a series of easier looking games against the clubs in the 20 to 30 points range who have nothing much to play for at this point to round off the season. Would be suprising if they stay up (assuming the Elgin - Bonnyrigg scenario doesn't happen) but it's not completely out of the realm of possibility.
  17. Ideally the SFA needs to find a way to intervene and force change like they did with the Club 42 playoff rule but that might not be easy in terms of the rulebook.
  18. Time will tell. If 5 to 10 years down the road Bo'ness United get relegated the current format would be problematic in terms of bouncing back because of needing to playoff against the WoS champion. Near automatic promotion for the EoS and WoS champions on the other hand wouldn't be anything like as daunting so clubs that know they have a shot at being tier 5 long term but might sometimes go down have an incentive to make the path back reasonably straightfoward. The problem right now is there are a lot of clubs in the LL that know they will be the next Whitehill Welfare after getting relegated and will wind up long term in tier 7 or below, so they want to prolong their stay as long as possible.
  19. Two of the 9 were probably VoL and Gretna. Repeat this vote three years or so from now (as will no doubt happen) and it should finally go the right way as more former junior clubs work their way in.
  20. I assume that's on relegation? No huge shock. Encouraging that it was that close though.
  21. Possibly in places but having spent quite a bit of time in Russia over the years I always find his content interesting because I didn't have the Russian language skills to be able to do what he does. Same basic experience of Russians being friendly for the most part though which is what makes the current situation deeply depressing and at least for me difficult to believe it would happen before it finally kicked off.
