  1. I think the result and performance always has a bearing on how cold and shitty it feels, some of my greatest memories have been in the wind & rain under the lights at Somerset, you don't seem to notice it when you're pumping Killie or the big boys..
  2. My wife always remembered that as the coldest place she'd ever watched a game at.
  3. I was using them to get Messi in to link up with Shankland and Moffat.
  4. Come on Derek, you can't even get a bovril at Somerset for a £ never mind transform the place.
  5. Wait until I win one of the larger Euromillions jackpots and we'll see what happens. I must be about due it by now.
  6. You would need half of that to do a job at Ayr, still too much for most.
  7. Absolutely spot on, never in my life have I saw a sportsman build up their legs only to get slower, you need the right advice/trainer when you're doing that shit, doing it properly he should have found a yard or 2, he lost that or more..
  8. Remember it well, I could easily have counted those in the SRE if I'd chosen to do so, the tumbleweed springs to mind. We're doing fine crowd wise, probably lost over a thousand on Saturday due to Dundee United' humping from Ross County. When McCall came in and stated that he wanted to get at least 2000 Ayr fans attending, I thought his chances were not too great, don't believe anyone if they pop up and they thought the chances were much greater than that, forget the stayaways, if they comeback brilliant, this team won't disappoint them often, if they don't, it's their loss, keep going and they'll prove they're our best team in 40 years IMHO.
  9. You are basically saying that you are correct on all 3 managers and it's ok to criticise if you think it's ok. Think on. '
  10. No harm to you, Partick are a team I've a lot of time for. The Championship is the highest league you're going to be in next season and that is far from certain at the moment, as sad as it is to see a legend leave, when their time is up it's up, I loved Ally McLeod to bits but when he left Ayr for the last time there were no tears of regret just gratitude. Time to stop the meltdown and making your club look like a basket case, he's away, deal with it without making a c**t of yourself and your team.
  11. He obviously fancied your chances in the playoff with BSC Glasgow next season, maybe he just likes the punishment.
  12. Keep this up and you'll be giving the Morton thread a run for it's money.
  13. Delighted, more so for his reasons than anything else, shows he's a fair way down the right road to normality.
  14. How does it not make sense, companies are sold for a quid on a very regular basis, those selling aren't doing it for benevolent reasons. Why should we give Barr the benefit of the doubt, he's not some sort of dafty, he is/was a sharp businessman who would/should have known about said tax bill. How do you know what would have happened if Lachlan' dad hadn't paid a quid, I certainly can't remember reports of Barr seeking a purchaser, you would think folk were purchasing fresh air, they weren't, they were purchasing land with a club attached, land has a value and it certainly wasn't a quid.
  15. Could we not just lock him in a cupboard until Saturday, might not be great for him but we'd be stress free.
  16. If you had said Partick I would have been delighted, for me that doesn't change anything for us.
  17. As an ex gambler myself all those things might not come into it, I'm at a stage where I'm very happy with who I am, I have dealt with the past and am cool with it, I put loyalty both ways and happiness above most things now,if he's the same then he'll stay, if not, we might be onto plums. If I was asked to advise him honestly, I'd be telling him to stay put, sometimes chasing mistakes lead to bigger mistakes.
  18. Well they mean something up to a point if it results in Partick swooping McCall away and being able to give us pretty much zero compensation. In all honesty, I'm a fan, ultimately I'm bothered about what happens on the pitch on a Saturday, if McCall wants to leave he will leave regardless, compensation or none won't play a part in it IMHO, why on earth would any fan or board member wish to keep a manager that wants to go. McCall isn't some young manager looking to climb the ladder, if he goes to Partick it will be for things other than ambition or cash, I HOPE HE STAYS as much as I wanted Shankland to stay but I'll understand his reasons if he goes, it would be a huge disappointment if he left us at this point.
  19. I mentioned Heathfield because a lot of money was spent chasing that project at the expense of Somerset, like any old structure, the more you neglect it the more it costs you in repairs at some point down the line. As for the tax bill, it should just have meant that the actual cost to purchase Ayr from Barr was tax bill + £1, not £1 + oh shit we're in deep shit because an unexpected bill arose, like I said in an earlier post, Lachlan has probably received criticism for things that really were not of his making, it's not right but if we as fans are kept in the dark then we're going to criticise the person in the hotseat at the time.
