  1. You do wonder. The actual fatality rate is probably much lower than published, because they are not testing everyone. Many more people will actually have it and many will only have mild symptoms. You can understand why conspiracy theories will arise. There has already been a suggestion in China that it causes infertility. I have my own views as to why there is a mass panic, but the way it is being handled will definitely fuel the theories. They could be lying about the fatality rate, but they wouldn't be able to hide that for long. Maybe it does cause a serious underlying issue that they are not being open about. Only time will tell. It's probably more likely that this strain of coronavirus is just a short step away from mutating into something really lethal.
  2. I doubt they will find a cure. You generally just treat the symptoms to lessen the effect of the virus. To help your immune system fight it off. The main issue with this virus is that it seems to spread rapidly. If it wasn't so quick and easy to spread I doubt the authorities would be so concerned. The flu kills over 20,000 people in Scotland every year alone, but the flu doesn't seem to spread as easily and our bodies are more used to fighting it off.
  3. Surely it should be a delay to the season rather than anything else. The exact same thing could happen again next season. What's the point in playing a new season for it to be scrapped again? The virus is not going to disappear. It will more than likely be a seasonal occurrence from now on, like many of the related viruses. With the ease with which this one seems to spread, it is unlikely that it will not infect the majority of people.
  4. I think the season will be delayed rather than end as it is. The Euro's will maybe get switched to next year though. It would be easier delaying the season and having a shorter season for 20/21. This virus will be here for good now. It won't go away. It will be seasonal every year and some people will suffer more than others. If they can develop an antiviral treatment, it will hopefully reduce the fatalities in future. The main focus now should be on isolating and caring for elderly people and those with underlying serious health issues rather than trying to isolate everyone. Also, there are people with other serious illnesses that still need treatment. I don't mean to sound heartless, but most of us need to continue as normal and accept we might feel rough and leave the medical people to deal with the serious cases. Highly likely that far more people have the virus already and plenty may think they do, when it is a run of the mill cold. You can't realistically shutdown the whole country for weeks. Some companies will be able to shutdown no problem. Sports events, concerts etc can be cancelled or postponed, but we rely on some companies and services just to get by from day to day. Food supply is all about quick turnaround nowadays and it would be literally a matter of days before the supermarkets run empty. They are already busier than normal now with people panic buying. If the companies involved in the supply of food cannot operate because they are told to shutdown, what do we do then?
  5. Which Cove player didn't put his shot away? 7 out of 8 converted. Clinical finishing.
  6. Our away form is terrible. You will always struggle to stay in the top four with away form like ours. We have almost caught up with the away games now though. Just 4 home and 5 away now. Go more attacking against Cove on Saturday. No point hanging back and hoofing it. It doesn't work. We don't score enough goals. Any chance Morrison playing this weekend?
  7. Barr and Hamilton stand outs, but Barr for me as well.
  8. The last match up there, we had Pyper and Valentine in defence. No Hamilton then. Herd was sent off just after they scored their third goal. Also, Renton and Cox upfront with GT, who of course was subbed to bring Allan on. We didn't have a shot on target, whereas Elgin scored 3 out of 5 on target. We need Hamilton playing and Swann. I would also have GT on with Allan. I think they would pair up well if given the chance. Get big Sheerin in the mix to cause mayhem at some point. If we line up like Saturday I can't see us troubling Elgin. Any chance Morrison might return? We could do with him in the middle.
  9. Wind ruined it. Would have been better teeing up shots from edge of box, especially second half as the wind was really swirling at the end we were attacking. Buchanan almost scored with a long range punt, but the wind dropped just as he hit it otherwise it might have carried over the keeper.
  10. We started well again, like Saturday. I definitely think evening football appeals more to some players. Buchanan always looks really up for it in midweek games. I have to say that is the sharpest I have seen Renton. Good to see him following up for the goal. He is probably told to stand at the keeper at corners, but we would do better if he was running in and attacking the ball with his height. He does it really well at the other end when we are defending a corner. Sure he would score some headers. I know Mango scores some, but a tall striker shoud be on the end of the crosses, not defenders. You can see Toddy is desperate to score though. He had about five attempts from corners. We didn't sit back either when in the lead, although it could easily have been a draw. It shows how important Mango is. He won just about everything in our box. He was immense. I still wish we would play GT and Allan (or Connelly if fit) together. GT broke up the right a few times and had nobody to swing the ball over to in the box. Renton (not criticism) doesn't have the speed that Allan or Connelly have. Sometimes Coxy gets the ball up the wing and he has to turn back because we don't have anyone running in and he ends up losing it and getting frustrated. A speedy player running in would cause some panic in the opposition defence. Just now, we are too predictable.
  11. Yes. Although it's harder when you are not doing so well and the entrance fee is close to double what a Lowland League team charges. Good luck to Kelty. I think you will need some.
  12. If you look at the attendance figures compared to the town/city population, Cowden are actually better supported than people might think. Of course, our location doesn't help matters. Too many bigger teams nearby.
  13. It wasn't caught by any wind. He seen the keeper off his line and curled it in. Although, I do think he will be a good keeper in the long run. Just looks a bit short on confidence.
  14. You can have him. He rarely holds the ball up. He is really good at defending and passing, but not a front player and poor control.
  15. Advantage Kelty in the Lowland League with today's result. Was a must win for them and they did the business. Bonnyrigg need to keep the challenge going until they meet again near the end of the season. That one could well be the title decider.
  16. Awful tactics again. Score a goal, then sit back deep in our own half. Making it so easy for the opposition. Why do we wait until late in the game to bring on a bit pace upfront and why oh why do we keep taking Taylor off when Renton is left on? He may have scored a tap in, but offers very little and looks so slow. We will struggle to beat Albion Rovers if we set up like this again. Why also do Taylor, Thomas, Allan and Swann seem to get it in the neck from the bench when others get let off the hook? Keeper poor for the goal. I was only just saying minutes before that he strays too far off his line. If he is on the line he saves that, same as he would have saved the one the other week against Stirling. Keeper should be on their line unless they are sprinting out to clear a ball or block an incoming attacker. You stand off your line and you make it easy for players to score shots like that.
  17. I think that is now separate. The Caledonian Braves team is almost entirely Scottish players. I think Edusport still exist as the academy for mainly French players, but not directly connected to Caledonian Braves.
  18. It's the first time Brechin have ever been in this league. It's only been around for 6 seasons.
  19. Surely the top beaks will have to sort out a better format for this. Or, will there be an even more protracted play off route? They should just set up a League 3 between League 2 and the Lowland Leagues with automatic promotion/relegation all the way through the Leagues.
  20. Red Bull Kelty. Or, would it be Maroon Bull Kelty? Or, Irn Bru Kelty. Sure BSC are really Buckfast Sports Club.
  21. Think the two games against us will be crucial. The way we are playing just now, Rovers would have been gutted that last night's game was postponed.
  22. Auchinleck pumped Kelty. They didn't pump Cove. They scored at the end of a game in which Cove dominated and didn't take their chances. I think Kelty would have more chance if they had a different manager. It's going to be interesting to see what happens with the two games against Bonnyrigg and two against BSC.
  23. Agree. If Brechin do end up in the Highland League, it will be an easier route back than the Lowland League would be just now. Also, Bonnyrigg do look the best out of the three. Kelty a bit fortunate again, like last season, in that the challengers (Bonnyrigg) are playing catch up (not as many games as LTHV had to cram in) and Kelty get the home game first again.
  24. Yeah. We deserved to lose to Broxburn and we were dross for a few years when we were in the relegation play offs. However, I don't think Kelty will make it to league 2. I don't think they are good enough, partly down to the manager they have. Only time will tell. As I said, the tough games are about to begin.
  25. I think you are being very kind to Kelty. They couldn't beat Annan in the cup and were comfortably beaten by Auchinleck in the cup. Just because they pump some dross at the lower end of the Lowland League doesn't make them League 1 standard. The real test for them this season is still to come when they play both BSC and Bonnyrigg home and away. If they stroll these games, then maybe your point would be more believable.
