  1. The true reaction of the fans will be shown by those sitting quietly or not turning up. Not the idiots who chanted "we want our Captain back" when he was a Raith Rovers player. As a Clyde fan this is humiliating both for my club and personally. I'm certainly not looking forward to the snide remarks at work tomorrow. I'm totally demoralised by this decision and my hopelessness as to the future of the club. We've went from a club aimlessly drifting to actively self harming. All because someone had a stauner for a (almost) 33 old who wanted to play for another team. Finally, if Danny Lennon supported this loan signing he should resign along with all the other c***s.
  2. Can you imagine if we were forced out of Broadwood and had to find a new home. Which Council, sponsor, corporate partner or potential ground sharer would touch us with a shitty stick?
  3. I'm sure the tone deaf idiots will step up and fill the financial void that will be created by NLL ending commercial partnerships. No doubt other sponsors will come under pressure. For example, Caplan won't want bad publicity for sponsoring the team that employs Goodwillie. Some of our supporters thought the furore would only last a couple of days. It really is incredible how stupid some folk are. I'm haufdaft but I could see this coming a mile away.
  4. If rumours are to be believed, folk put pressure on the board by threatening to remove funding if the club didn't re-sign their favourite player. I would like to put on record that I think those people are c***s who should be told to stick their money up their tone deaf shitters. *ETA. I hope those c***s read a little of this thread and feel just a little self awareness. Although I doubt it. C***s!
  5. Yes. I haven't been for an owner for a couple of years. Realised I had nothing to offer. Saw it as donation at the time. Although I could see at AGMs that there were a few contrarians who seemed only to raise points for devilment. I'll also say that the vast majority of owners are not "nutters". Unfortunately they don't shout as loud.
  6. I'm not a club owner but looking at some of the comments on here and on twitter there's some nutters amongst them. *Admittedly, I'm a bit of a nutter myself but at least I'm not an owner.
  7. Normally I'd agree with this sentiment. However, surely we don't expect decisions about "non-signings' to be explained to club owners. Do owners want input into recruitment of individual players? Do they want told of every player we knock back? The Goodwillie situation is toxic in the press etc. The club are correct to keep shtum about the situation. Why bring the spotlight back onto Clyde? I think the real scandal is the lack of comment over the past months by our Head of Football Operations about the poor quality of player we've actually signed.
  8. We signed him in the middle of June. Surely that would've been too soon to panic.
  9. Why would we pay a player who needed to actively hawk himself around clubs a relatively high salary? That flies in the face of the traditional supply and demand convention. Then again, we gave McGrath a two year contract. All sounds very Clyde like to me.

  11. I'm not sure about the young manager thing. Barry Ferguson? Colin Hendry? If given a choice I'd always go for experience. However, I think it's important to decide the style of play you want before selecting a manager. I don't really fancy a Jim Duffy type. For what it's worth, I'd extend Danny's contact but we cannot keep praising him for making an average team while condemning him for the dreadful players he recruits. Player recruitment is so important at this level. Coaching bad players well is a poor substitute for good player selection. How about we coach decent players well?

  13. Disappointing transfer window so far. Are we waiting for the loan leftovers after everyone else has had their hog roast with trimmings? This, after admitting recruitment wasn't good enough in October. So we sign a right back (to be played in midfield) and a 19 year old striker. Danny specifically mentioned a creative midfielder. None How many other clubs in our League have a "recruitment team"? We're not exactly a great advert for clubs considering employing their own. If we go down, we'll deserve it. Incidentally, we're well into February and we've still never heard a cheap from our Head of Football Operations. Has he ever talked to any fan about his role/plans for the footballing side of the club? The most important part of the club to the ordinary Clyde fan. Did he attend the AGM? Did he speak?
  14. I don't think I suggested handing out free tickets. In fact, I agree with you. I don't think there was loads of kids attending at the time of free children's tickets . Discounted match day tickets for season ticket holders of Celtic, Rangers and perhaps other Premier League teams I thought was an interesting concept. The retailers discount scheme a few years ago as you mention was great. Although it was at the expense of my waistline (£5 for two courses at the carvery, if I remember correctly, followed by a wee free session at the bingo) Added value can only help season ticket sales. I was disappointed to see it end.

  16. Doubt we'll gather many more fans from Cumbernauld. We offered free entry to kids and still they didn't come in any decent numbers. The Old Firm dominate. Perhaps the best we can do is become Celtic and Rangers supporters wee team. I seem to recall Edinburgh City offering discounted match day every to season ticket holders at Tynecastle and Easter Road. I thought that was interesting idea at the time. I can't recall if it was a one off or whether it lasted all season. Would Clyde supporters, particularly season ticket holders, support this? I'm not so sure. As for youth teams, it may work in creating an affinity for the club amongst the youngsters playing for the boy and girl teams. Although any youngster showing any promise in footballing terms will just be poached by Premier League clubs. So in my opinion it's a waste of money of you're hoping to produce first team players.
  17. I'd imagine the only issue that may have any effect on Clyde would be add-ons within the deal that are based on match appearances etc. Simply put, we won't get any additional money. Other than that Raith need to pay in full. He's signed for them. He's entirely a Raith player. Whatever they do with him is entirely their concern, not ours. Long may that continue.
  18. I've just watched the highlights which reflect how poor the match was I'd liked to have seen the incident near full-time where the ref gave a foul after the East Fife goalkeeper dropped a high ball, resulting in a Clyde player scoring a disallowed goal. Looked a soft foul to me at the time.
  19. It's amazing how many "Clyde fans" are suddenly creating accounts or making their first ever posts. Amazing also all are supportive of viewpoints that bring the club into disrepute. I thought East Fife were by far the poorest league team I have seen this season. Absolutely no cutting edge. And not much quality elsewhere. Clyde weren't much better in the forward areas but midfield was slightly better than our usual. I thought Livingstone was excellent in the second half (my Motm). Almost all Clyde set pieces ended directly into the goalkeepers arms. Both teams could still be playing and it would still be 0-0 Day wasted. I should've stayed in and watched the rugby. And I hate rugby.
  20. Another week and another match that had me wondering why I bother traveling and paying to sit in total boredom in the freezing, pissing rain. Once again, practically no goal mouth excitement. Shouting half-heartedly for a penalty was as good as it got. We may be fifth in the League but my God it's not worth this level of tedium.
  21. I think you're being very naive if you think it would soon be yesterday's news. The world has moved on in the last 4 years. People are far more aware of violence towards women. The Me Too movement has successfully brought this to the public's attention. On one day, it was trending 4th on twitter for the whole UK. This was a £50k transfer of a player between a Scottish League one team and the Championship and was trending nationally. The public were interested and appalled. No way should Goodwillie play for Clyde again. If he re-signed, the publicity would be 100x worse than the last time. John Mason's boycott might even last a month. If our board are so unaware of the tremendous damage it would do to our already damaged reputation and bring him back, they should just chuck it as should Danny Lennon. In saying that, I don't think it will happen.
