  1. They said a couple of weeks ago on the Totally Football podcast that he’s officially the worst manager in the history of the CL (with a minimum of 20 games played). And his records only got worse since then! And Rangers officially the worst team ever in the group stage! BT Sports have just said Celtic are the first British side to fail to win in 15 consecutive games in Europe. I fucking love the Champions League! And the Scottish champions go straight into the new format League season.
  2. I note with interest that, on a day featuring Man City vs Liverpool, Match of the Day’s first game up is Luton vs Crystal Palace…
  3. Bonner basically blamed Aberdeen and the rest of Scottish football for not preparing Celtic for the rigours of the Champions League. Gordon had barely started to say “Well the clubs need more money to challenge…” when Bonner started scoffing loudly and said “But I seem to recall Willie (Miller) and his teams doing not too badly against my Celtic team on occasions” before Richard Gordon could point out that yes, they did, and that was possible because the teams were far more evenly matched financially in those days. I turned off at that point but other listeners may be able to confirm if Richard Gordon then attempted to explain to Packie the difference between small, plastic toy cows and real cows in a field that were far away. Cause that was pretty much the level at which we were operating.
  4. Did he definitely say it was to fight though? Might just have fancied a spot of dogging.
  5. This is where I’m at with that penalty claim. I think it was a pretty soft “shove”, that rarely gets given (and rightly so imo) at full speed but it’s the kind of shite that would have an overly officious VAR drone salivating. I don’t “celebrate” the injury but he gets f**k all sympathy from me given the way it happened - he tried to smash Rankine, and if he hadn’t got out of the way it could’ve been the end of his career instead. And then of course he got a hospital porter the sack that night for asking what seemed to be a couple of fairly innocuous questions. Think some of the Pars are being a little harsh on the keepers - both goals were certainly soft but neither seemed an out and out Birighitti.
  6. Remember when they went the whole hog and actually made United play a semi-final against Rangers at the “neutral” venue of… Ibrox?
  7. They’ve had as many players sent off in 4 Champions League matches as they have in 2 years of league matches. Wonder what the difference is?
  8. Saw Kheredine Idessane’s report on the news about the game where he gushed about Clement having won 4 out of 5 games as though as it was a significant achievement. Anything less and you’d have the media portraying it as a crisis at Rangers. The rule in question being “Penalty to Rangers” presumably?
  9. Wild to think we were spending that kind of money 30yrs ago
  10. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/ryan-kent-silence-broken-rangers-31260897 “Ryan Kent silence broken as Rangers hero issued “loyal” Fenerbahce non negotiable by irked boss with tensions rising” The headline on this article WTF does it even mean??? Who the f**k writes this shit? Yoda? Complete fucking word salad. Is it deliberate click bait to make people read the article to see what they’re actually gibbering on about since no-one is getting the content of the story from that headline?
  11. He definitely played for the Fun when Billy McKinlay scored a hat-trick against them at Dens, including one of the best volleys I’ve ever seen. I was right behind it on the T C Keay terracing.
  12. Genuine question - whilst I acknowledge the point you’re making, would you genuinely be offended if a French poster said no-one was going near Gilmour because he smelt of haggis?
  13. It’s Thomson who occasionally finishes sentences with a low growl isn’t it? Boils my piss.
  14. MORTEN FROM A-HA! MORTEN FROM A-HA! CAN YOU HEAR ME, MORTEN??? etc
  15. Anyone else following this on the BBC live text updates and finding it barely intelligible and amateurish in the extreme?
  16. The same is true for most of this Spain team though, compared to the double Euro & World Champs of a decade ago (although, admittedly that’s a pretty high bar). Not one of this lot would get near that team.
  17. And there was me thinking our Andrew was the only royal who was into escorts…
  18. I’m sure they’ll have broken ground on the monorail at least
  19. I absolutely love watching good teams play good, passing football, playing out from the back and being good enough to get out of ridiculous situations by not panicking, trusting their teammates and passing through a press. I absolutely hate watching mediocre kids / amateur / Championship / even Premiership teams trying to play the same brand of passing football when they are nowhere near good enough to do so, and are probably playing on a surface resembling a ploughed field. It’s madness. At a certain level it’s perfectly fine, and still “good” football albeit in a different way, to be more direct. When the opposition is as poor as you are, get the ball into their box and let them make the mistake there.
  20. 1) Never getting there, stay on your line, you’ll save that header all day. 2) Utter dogshit. Firstly the pass was never on, secondly the pass he attempted was very poorly executed, thirdly he had chances to get back to his line but hesitated and left himself in no man’s land, fourthly he makes a very weak attempt at a save. Apart from that it wasn’t bad. 3 and 4 not so much, but the damage is already done.
  21. Ignoring Harkes, as I tended to do much of the time he was playing for us anyway, the standard of that match is appalling. I mean I’m sure casual observers watching the average Scottish match would say exactly the same thing, but I keep hearing about how MLS is a good standard now, that it’s not a retirement league anymore etc. but I’m amazed at how poor that looks. The DC United keeper looks about as good as our very own Wizard of Oz and then halfway through they refer to him as having been selected as an All-Star! And that’s the standard Messi’s off to play at???
  22. Do Hearts not get an annual donation of £8million from that guy who gave everyone a COVID payment?
  23. That particular rumour has been cleared up already - turns out it was Huw Edwards.
