The thought of Bullen in a two leg playoff against the same team only a few days apart fills me with dread tbh..
Unless its Morton. He's got the beating of Imrie.

Jeez I know the name, didn't know who it was though. Horrendous. Fair play to anyone that stands there all game.

Does anyone here stand on North Terrace about in line with the 18 yard box and constantly shout high pitched abuse at the ref for absolutely nothing BTW? Got so bad today I had to move but would be nice to put a name to a face as someone that angry has to post on here

Tend to agree with Dundee winning the league. They have us over a barrel but seem to drop points to everybody else. In saying that, i think they have enough depth to get themselves over the line. I'd fancy us to beat Queens in the playoffs but we need to make sure we get there first.
IF it came to it I'd fancy us over 2 legs v QP and Morton. Not v Dundee or Partick.

What's going to happen with these last six games then?
Queens have a very tricky run in whilst Dundee, on paper, have some of the easier games of all the promotion chasing teams. I would say that we are somewhere in the middle in terms of difficulty. A win against Arbroath on Saturday would be huge as the teams around us have easier fixtures, then it's going to be down to a few huge matches with Morton, QP and Thistle coming up. At the very least it should be a big few weeks for us and it's nice not to be worried about getting relegated!
Dundee to win the league I reckon. For all the rage we had at our 2nd half performance on Tuesday I was really impressed by them, sounds like they had changed formation to go 2 up and also get McCowan back in the team and unfortunately it definitely worked.
IF we can go and beat Arbroath on Friday then the gap to QP is only 2. I'd expect Dundee to pump Hamilton and QP away at Raith looks a good draw.
I'm quite confident of a playoff spot. Dipo as he has tweeted has now scored in 5 of his last 6 and is back to looking like scoring every week - that's huge.

He's obviously limited at times so far on the park but listening to Nick McAllister in first half from the North Terrace today convinces me he will 100% be captaining someone by his mid 20s, at whatever level he ends up at. He was absolutely superb talking Mikey Hewitt through a nervous opening 10 mins, without a doubt the loudest and most encouraging guy on the whole park. Can easily see why he is so popular as a squad member.
The fact that he himself was out of position and the guy he was coaching through the game was playing in the position he presumably wants to make his own makes it even better.

McKenzie is 22 years old, and has improved hugely over the last season or two, and I’m sure he will continue to do so. He is probably one of our most improved players so it would be utterly wild to get rid of a 22 year old with 100 career appearances, who has continuously improved.
And I’m not remotely his biggest fan, but you need to be able to see the bigger picture at times. People need to get away from getting rid of an entire squad and starting again.
Agreed. Plus it seems reasonably likely that both Dipo and i'd assume Maguire will leave in the summer so we will be looking at bringing in at least 2 other strikers, absolute no brainer to keep McKenzie as another option IMO and I'm happy we have. Happy to be quoted on this come Christmas but I'd be astonished if McKenzie is the first choice #9 who we are relying on to be our main striker next season.
I think we've actually been a but spoiled having had both Shankland and Dipo on or about 30 goals a season as this level and therefore folk get a bit obsessed with numbers. Dundee looked pretty impressive midweek and are still right in with a title shout and yet as far as I can see don't have anyone in double figures for league goals yet.
I think people would definitely be a lot less harsh on him if he had never been used out wide and was only seen as a CF in fairness.

Cove H Abroath A Morton H. We basically need 9 points from that.
Thought first half was decent tonight albeit we relied on 3 good saves from Albinson. At least we got the ball down ourselves and looked pretty good playing through midfield.
2nd half was diabolical though.

His confidence must be absolutely shot, he can’t play on Friday.
We loaned out the only other LB in the squad so he has to!

Was that Reading passing the ball out of play under no pressure in the build up to that goal?
It sure was

Bowyer also spotting that Ayr don't have a LB evidently...
It's wild that until fairly recently he was getting Scotland u21 caps. Albeit not as a left back but still..

It's the shape that worked so well at Falkirk haha

Aye that's been coming. We've decided not to bother coming back out at HT

Definitely more like the Ayr I enjoyed watching at the start of the season - getting it down and playing some nice stuff, look wildly open at the back but also look dangerous going forward. At least it's entertaining. Albionson with at least 3 top drawer saves

Jeez we had started quite well too.

Totally dominated from start to finish, controlled the game and played the ball on the deck all day.
Murdoch makes such a difference, Ashford makes us more solid and helps us control things and Daire has that extra bit of flair that can turn games.
All in all it was a great team performance but as you say we DID miss a few sitters and made the wrong choice a few times with the final ball when clean through but ultimately we can't complain and have got ourselves back in a great position and can now look forward to Tuesday, especially as all the other results have pretty much gone our way.
If ever a post reeked of 5-0 Dundee this is it.
For the record I agree with every word haha

Well worked goal. Ashford has been pretty effective so far.
He was our best player on Monday IMO.

So 451 then

I don't really see Monday having any impact on today TBH. Would expect it will be a scrappy game between two pretty poor sides settled by a goal either way.
Can't see us either being so deflated at the defeat that we lose 4-0, or be so motivated to make amends that we go and hammer them.
Re: the previous poster asking about nerves, not for me personally. Out the cup so that excitement is gone, but safe from relegation so no element of "shiteing it" that we've had the last couple of seasons in the run in.

It's definitely the worst I've ever felt after a game. Even the days we have been relegated / Alloa away when we missed a massive penalty (common theme btw) to ruin the title as we thought at the time didn't really bother me beyond a couple of pints / good sleep. Think league games are less of an issue for me weirdly as you know the next season is going to bring about a new squad/ new challenge / new drama no matter if you go up / down / stay same.
I'm personally feeling this one more as this was a chance for a semi and maybe even a final at Hampden. Realistically the only time I'd have got to do that with my old man and my son all together.
We will be doing it twice this month watching Scotland but just feels a sickener not getting to do it for Ayr too - wasn't even something I'd ever even considered getting the chance to do until we got such an easy, one in a million run of draws. Think that's why I'm so angry. Would have been better just doing our usual and going out to a St Mirren or Livi in the early rounds without a whimper.

- The "sub goalie" has far more experience at this level than the seventh-tier acquisition who took his first-team place.
- Other teams at this level aren't handing their entire squads multi-year contracts essentially regardless of talent simply to have some consistency. That's long-term thinking.
- Everyone else's sub goalie at this level is the coach, or somebody's granny. If you have two decent keepers, keep them happy.
- He wasn't at fault for anything. Indeed a couple of times he defied his doubters in being very bold in claiming balls off his line.
5. Does he then deservedly keep his place for the 9 'massive history making league games to come?'
Why the f**k are we keeping 2 keepers happy? McAdams surely wont even be here next season. Play the best one. Your point 4 is correct though in that he did OK, however that isn't the point.
It's the Scottish Cup QF. We don't tend to get to Hampden semi finals that often. Take it seriously and play the strongest team FFS.

I haven't a bad word to say about this tbh. If he isn't good enough then he doesn't play. He's previously demonstrated that he's good enough at this level. "Proper" football teams with their three year contracts and their toilets with seats on them and that pish have cup keepers all the time. So long as he's not conceding more than are being scored, and isn't making an arse of it, no reason not to do it.
Reckon any other teams at our level play the sub goalie tonight?

Not blaming McAdams at all tonight but can anyone understand the thinking between playing him in an important cup tie when he has hardly played all season.
A shambolic decision that proved that the players and management were still treating this as a walkover where we could give the sub keeper some game time and still cruise through.
Again- nothing against McAdams personally- he only conceded to a penalty and a deflection/OG but the decision to not go full strength set the tone IMO. No wonder we pretty much chucked it after scoring. Players thought it was won.

Ayr v Cove Friday night Shitefest?
in Scottish Championship General Chatter

Cove are down - that's them officially the only team that can't now catch us
Thought we never really got out of 2nd gear, Maguire showed a couple of touches of class for his assists and if his finishing wasn't off would have got a couple of goals himself.
McAllister was superb for us as I've said on our own thread, the lad seems a born leader.
Albinson with one massive save when it mattered.. could we have maybe played him in the Falkirk game? Ach that's me off on a tangent.
Cove were rotten. There's obv something there as they've won at Partick and only narrowly lost at Morton late on recently but that's us 11-0 against them in 2023 so I just don't see it.
