  1. As others have said - I will not be going to any game involving colt teams. I'll be letting the City board know this. My original post had a link to a Daily Rangers story - it was a year old - my apologies for being a numpty - for both posting an old link, and mostly for looking at their website (I blame Google!)
  2. The Special AKA - (Free) Nelson Mandella
  3. Indeed. I'd no idea what to expect as I'd purchased tickets in a red wine fuelled buying stint without actually hearing any of their stuff (I seem to have entered the Paris marathon at the same time!!) Very dramatic, and better venue than I'd thought (SEC Armadillo) Placebo, Alison Moyet, OMD, EH6 festival and The Killers all in the nearish future..
  4. Depeche Mode at the London stadium on Saturday - can't wait. Also got tickets for the West End Festival Alldayer at Oran Mor on the 18th...a great lineup!
  5. At Ezra Furman in The Liquid Rooms on Saturday - my my he gave 110%! Scottish Opera - Marriage of Figaro this Saturday then.. Christine and the Queens, Teenage Fanclub, Primal Scream, Alabama 3 and Frightened Rabbit to see before New Year Then C Duncan, Sophie EB and then Depeche Mode later next year..
  6. I really enjoyed Vienna - a beautiful city. Well worth a go. There was quite a long out-and-back section, which I hate! But otherwise a lovely route. The crowd seemed a bit more reserved than Paris - polite applause is nice, but after 30+k you need something more! Next Spring? I'm not sure yet.. perhaps Barcelona.. or Milan.
  7. Burst it (I know medical advice says no, but when do runners ever listen to that!) and then tape with zinc oxide tape. Put a strip round the top of the toe and then another strip around the toe to hold it on (hope that makes sense).
  8. Well, just back to work today after two weeks swanning around Europe.. Two marathons in a week - Vienna last Sunday and Paris the Sunday before that. Pretty crap time in Paris - very warm, and only three runs in three weeks before due to the flu. By the next weekend I was feeling much better and not too stiff or sore resulting in a reasonable 3;48;42 (still 17 minutes slower than PB) If any of you fancy a European marathon I can thoroughly recommend Paris - very well organised and a fantastic crowd along the whole route. Entry now in for Loch Ness in September, and making plans for Spring marathons next year.
  9. Yippeeeeee - after three and a bit months out with a strained Achilles I got the all clear from the physio today to start running again!
  10. Rome marathon last weekend - finished in 3:31:51. A PB by just over 31 minutes. This was my second marathon, the first being 31 years ago in Glasgow. The cobbles were a bit of a nightmare; only about 10k of them but it seemed so much more. The original plan was for this to be my last marathon.. however, I now am planning a quartet next year; Barcelona, Rome, Paris and London = four in six weeks.. The easy bit will be running them, got to get entries first!
  11. Forever in Electric Dreams - Phil Oakey and Giorgio Moroder
  12. To be honest I watched the London marathon on TV and tried to get in - didn't. So tried Paris - didn't. Now, always up for a challenge I looked around and Rome just sort of happened! I needed something to freshen my running; I'd started doing the same races each year. I'd hoped to beat 40m for 10k and 1.30 for a half marathon his year so we'll see how that all fits in with my longer training. Can't wait for Rome though - accommodation already booked!
  13. Eeek - 31 years after my last marathon I've entered the Rome one held next March! Always said I'd never do another, stick to 1/2s and 10ks I said... Oh well, the dark winter nights will fly by!!
  14. You Sir are a star! Makes my having the 'flu seem a bit pathetic! You will NOT embarrass yourself - just go out and enjoy it - you will. Keep it up, and good luck.
  15. Not a bad year; did 1198km (745 miles) training although I haven't run for the past eight weeks due to the 'flu and then picking up a cold just after! The aim was to run sub 1.30 for half-marathon and sub 40 for 10k. I missed both by a tiny amount - more speed work required... First run of the season not until 2nd March - Nairn 10k with Inverness 1/2 the week after. Hopefully I'll get out tomorrow for a wee trot to see if I can remember how to run...
  16. Tried (and failed!) to get tickets for Chvrches next week. Will have to make do with Alison Moyet on Friday...
  17. Belle and Sebastian at the Ironworks on Monday night then Blondie last night in the Usher Hall - both were good gigs.
  18. OK, I've been away on holiday for two weeks; anyone care to summarise? A decidedly refreshing lack of info in Italy
  19. You know it's our first friendly of the season this Friday; a time when I start to get excited about the coming season. Yes, it's only Diddy v Diddy but it's good HONEST football and now I feel there is a big black blue cloud hanging over us here in Division 3. Please, please don't let those cheating, bigoted scum come along and steamroller us just because "they're too big to die"
