  1. Fairly obvious he can live anywhere, but accommodation is not the cheapest down there making the £s spent on that and £s earned will be less. My mate works with an Airline company and does a lot of his work in Luton, he lives in Crawley and nice 70 odd mile away I dont think its the ideal club for Sibbald, whom is pretty much an inward character
  2. I went to Luton v Leeds years ago with the regular Leeds supporters who frequent Falkirk every year for a game or three. You needed proof of being a member of a Leeds supporters official club to get in to start with, which was probably a Leeds thing The Ground was very much like old Broomfield with a pavilion on the corner of the ground, Outside the ground it was spot the white man, inside it was the opposite Leeds got beat 5-1 that day and the lasting memory was the Leeds fans singing throughout and not one left singing while goals 4 and 5 went in during the singing. Luton is a sh8thole and very much stuck in the 80s, No matter the club in England, its one big shop window if you do well but I cant imagine Luton being the choice of many if they could hand pick a lower league club to start off at.
  3. I like the thinking of the above, I think Loy has to start and I'd start with Thomson in goals for this one and get a life familiarity to start with, giving Mitchell game(s) later. I'd buy into that with them two changes. I'd like to see Finlayson given a chance, 19yr old now and should be knocking the door especially with the competition ahead of him.
  4. centre back two also..... For me you start with a spine, from goalkeeper centre defence, centre mid, centre forward. Goalie apart, we had probably four players in each block of the spine throughout the season
  5. Houston was clueless throughout last season, we had no settled team, we ended a season where most supporters POTY was the same player because no one really performed that good over the season like the manager. Houston had some bewildering teams selections, his subs cost us game (notably the last utd game) whereas the season afore his subs won or got us a draw. I still dont know how we finished 2nd, tho utd went about a dozen games without a league win, we can only hope less choice in the squad brings back the settled 11 again like it was 2 seasons ago because the bigger squad did us no favours
  6. His best season was at left mid and his best performances this season were at left mid. My game of the season for him was away to Queens, he was hungry, delivered with skill, dig and effort. He never reached those levels in the centre for me, he done well but not as good as he has done on the left consistently for me. I dont think he has a killer pass in him,his set piece play isnt great, he has a fear at times using his right foot strangely when he scored a wonder goal at Hearts with it, he can at times be muscled out of games tho has proven he can muscle his way in, the former happens more tho. I have enjoyed watching Sibbald but I think there is a reason why he hasnt left like others afore him have. I doubt he will make it down south tbh but I do hope he goes there for the £s coz we will end up settling for a smaller fee and add ons that we will never get if an SPL team comes in. The link up play with Leahy was a joy to watch, his goals, his effort in achieving the best for us and skill on the ball has been a joy. He will be missed but I think we will improve if he goes in cover and options. I think Scotland is his level, of which he could be a big player, he will get dwarfed down south
  7. I stuck up for Craigen at the start of the season as long as I could, he does have the luxury of being comfortable with both left and right foot, decent shot and good set pieces. I just can't see the different level in him yet, two superb superman performances where he had pace in the last two games hasn't convinced me fully. He will need to bring more of the last two performances to be on that different level list, he has the tools to do so tho
  8. Looks like Vegas from Culross at night.......whilst dogging !!!
  9. I wasn't sticking up for Muirhead as a right back just the fact the centre of our defence has been brutal, he did have a decent season at right back the season afore and there was no complaints like there is now. We can hope that we at least get that form back if he is selected. The fact we had 4 or 5 players vying for most supporters poty that season and last season it was one player only, tells it's own story. Finlayson getting 45 yesterday and Muirhead playing centre half doesn't mean a lot in regard to Muirhead but it's gave Finlayson a chance to show what he can do and if he's not better than Kidd and Muirhead at 19, he is as well bracing himself for part time football in the future.
  10. Provan probably slept through it tho Finlayson started the first 45, the boy is 19 now, if he is gonna step up, now is his season Age shouldn't be a barrier if they are good enough then they are good enough Muirhead v utd getting shown up was due to the failures of our centre halves that night, like most of the season a bus could drive through the centre of our defence. We need to be more solid in the centre if we have any ambition of topping the pile, tho hopefully the best form of defence is attack
  11. Panic statement ? Making fans aware of numbers and an apology of the the Budapest scenario isn't panic I thought pars fans tell tale signs of panic is complete denial of being trouble, we are not in trouble statements, we won't go bust even tho even Leishmans dug knew they were fuked. Keep the monthly sub's going to subsidise journeymen from the seaside leagues, relegated players from this league and the occasional failed player above that, the sell on fees for them players will take you back to where you belong....!!! Bob McHugh........2yr contract..... I'm still pissing myself......thanks for that gem As much as I hate the set up of the league cup, it will provide all clubs with a season ticket sales boost if the club starts off well, so hopefully we will to do so. McKinnon is a clown tho, if we had shown the form they had throughout the season, a huge winless league run and the horrible away form, I reckon Houstie would've been lucky to be here or most managers in this division. The home form kept him in a job or perhaps £s to sack him, its proof to how poor the league was last season that they finished 3rd and could've been 2nd
  12. Pay off from Dundee assured 2yr contract on lesser money v stay at Dundee and not get a chance to play... Very much the Rankin deal to Queens but we get a player who will improve us.....
  13. Ive a feeling he will do well for ICT this season, he didn't have a good season last season with goals but his work rate is always 100%, he's a moany bassa too, which I liked. I find it strange that some of our support think he is done at the age of 31 and no bad injury to at least give that some evidence to being correct. I personally feel that strikers sometimes can be prolific one season and not so the season after, tho do feel pastures new was required for him, but did fear we may have replaced him with shite. Baird did link up brilliant with Loy, which was always a bit of a gutter they couldn't play in the cup run which I've conveniently forgotten about....
  14. Had a wonder game in the U20s v Rangers but never got 2 games in a row in the first team for us which tells you all you need to know. He perhaps deserved a chance when Danny's Rogers form dipped but to stand a chance to become first choice, you need a few games to prove your worth and not one game randomly and selected for challenge cup games v 3rd or 4th tier. He would be a good back up, tho left us to get games
  15. 8 or 9 of that will be correct, I can see two centre midfield sitters and why not if the the wide players are delivering. Our better performances last season were with the width doing the creating and mids covering, tho mainly away from home, didn't work as well at home.
  16. My brain isn't working(yep normal service) with the huge grin I have... David Nichols the one I cudnt remember has just came through now.... Still got my Houston 12 coasters top
  17. Kevin McAllister three times, John Hughes, John Henry, Kevin James, Scott McKenzie, Peter Hetherston, Crawford Baptie some of which were better 2nd time around David Moss and Gerry McCoy no so Loy will be fine, same manager, best bud in team and around 4/5 players there from last time and he isn't coming back to end his career, like many returners do.
  18. Yes, couldn't score for toffee majority of the season, if Hippo gets going and Harris then the ammunition for Loy (altho he is as much a creator himself) and Austin will make up for losing the players we have. We also have Miller to cameo, who will surely be on the same path as Loy Hopefully you pick up the guy who wasn't good enough for Hamilton but good enough in the third tier for Airdrie Over the fukn moon with this signing....I kept on going on about Loy could make all the difference to my mate yet, I thot the reality wasn't gonna be. I'll even have a beer now.
  19. Reality of a bench tho is striker for striker, midfielder for midfielder most weeks and if we get a striker in, I suppose Miller gives us the striker option with O'Hara and Shepherd pushing. McKee, Craigen, Harris, Hippo, Kerr, Taiwo, possibly Sibbald, only 4 of 6/7 can start (Kidd can also play centre mid) We need a left back and striker in but I don't see much of a difference to last season regarding the bench He has been good for us, felt some classed his age afore his performance at times. I wouldn't be surprised if he went only for match days, I'm sure Andy Rodgers trained with Shire when he was at Peterhead
  20. Pre season v real business is a world away..... So many pre season signings I've seen be amazing pre season, couldn't kick a ball when the real business starts.....time will tell if signed Spot on.....
  21. Has anyone been sold with the pre season season ticket selling motto....? They could have put, play offs, fail and start again and probably wouldve sold as many Cant recall the last George Craig season one with the next step or something or other, signing older players like McCann, McNamara and nearly relegating and busting the club, tho we reached one league cup semi final and one cup final...... Its our time is pretty dull
  22. 100% yes I wouldnt be surprised if we went into the league cup games with no other signings tbh and perhaps a few rush jobs at the end
  23. I've just renewed with a frown and the phrase oh no what have I done .... There is an air of depression that hasnt left since the Utd game, we are not far away tho. A smaller squad I think it looks to be but if we get going and a decent striker in, we wont be far away. The lack of a decent striker in and we may re visit Houstie's first season
