  1. Probably good this wasn't revealed a few week ago http://www.deadlinenews.co.uk/2017/06/29/falkirk-boss-peter-houston-admits-hibs-title-triumph-cost-bairns-120000/?platform=hootsuite
  2. Bugger...... Tho rescued by the fact he is injured, not that I wish an injury on anyone. Surprised to read he is only 31
  3. That kinda signing would have currently paid up season ticket holders looking for a full refund It was also a concern seeing Lee Miller active over a David Clarkson tweet, tho thankfully you have him signed up
  4. This one was a free transfer, which you will know. After losing, Baird, McHugh, Leahy, McCracken, Aird and possibly Sibbald its natural that replacements will appear. One outfield player in and 5/6 out.
  5. I'm sure there would've been a fair few who now aren't getting a season ticket but would have if we got a bums on seat signing, its not mindblowingly a huge number but if its 50-100 its £s that won't be there now Why did we bring in Duffy when we had Ian McSween ? Be consistent So the club started a rumour over a player who is in contract ? Remind me your Houstie didn't sound keen rumour re Loy ? Again be consistent
  6. 8 goals in that relegated Raith team, you bigged up the signing of Duffy who looked decent in a relegated Brechin team....... be consistent I'd rather we signed him and not a loan tho
  7. Before my time...now if it was Martin Melvin I'd take him obviously with another striker in. He created havoc for us for Raith. We will just need to run it past Yogi first....!!!
  8. It would be a backward signing especially if it was for left back
  9. Scobbie seems nowadays to pick up injuries here and there, he's a centre half playing left back which is no good to us and as much as I had a soft spot for him, I'd not be overly keen for us to sign him. Fyvie is energetic, that's about it, his passing is worse than Taiwos, gets a nosebleed in the last third and Kerr's shooting is better !!!...nah for me Murdoch maybe made a poor move away from us but at right back, see Scobbie at left back but change to midfielder. He is also another with niggly injuries. Keatings is one of those enigma players, can do it but doesn't often enough. King hasn't kicked a ball since Hearts promotion season. Unless they get a tune out of Keatings, I don't particularly fear the utd signings
  10. Need to have striker that holds the ball up well, bring others into play for that to work, no coincidence UTD improved going to 4-4-2 after realising they didn't have a striker to make it work. The best 4-2-3-1 I seen last season was Dumbarton, Nade up top did the striker point to a tee and three pacey effective players behind. Austin still has a lot to prove, never mind be an effective lone striker. We were a fukn mess playing 4-2-3-1 last season, the St mirren home game first half was probably our worst all season, the Ayr away plus gave us a 1-0 hammering of Ayr. Its not for me, unless we have the players to do so, the striker being the key ingredient
  11. I can see why folk are being disheartened, the dufc losing play off game was a big stabbing to where it hurt but summed up our season in that we flattered to deceive, then again the majority in the league did. It's gone too far for me tho with it being a drug I can't shake tho did say if we beat Inverness in the cup I could retire, never gonna happen tho. The only time I fully stopped going was post Lambie, the Gerry Collins months, season ticket and didn't go, TBF the Eddie May/ Elvis season was similar. The club to an extent has stood still but I look at Raith. Morton, Dunfermline and St Mirren to see that standing still isn't to be knocked. I think the club needs one morale boosting signing to turn the 50/50 returning season ticket holders to 70/30 to return, the numbers will be down this season but by how much depends on our signings
  12. We could sign Ronaldo and some Falkirk fans would have a meltdown. He left us last time for £s with a wage we couldn't compete with, if it's not us again it will again be down to £s
  13. Jack Ross factor ? 3 months v 2 seasons under Houstie, 3 months where he wasn't an automatic starter. Outside the Dundee situation of staying, sure it will come down to cash, and perhaps contract length. I think he will have more of an affinity with ourselves, having been at games after he has left and friends at the club, this goes for very little tho when your 27 with a family on a short playing career. I can't see him giving up £1700 a week at Dundee and I can't see us taking that on. The ball is firmly in the hands of Dundee
  14. For revealing two stats ? My days of superstitions/jinx etc left me at Falkirk v Kilmarnock 1997. I wore my Tranmere Rovers top at every cup tie, including the final and we know how that turned out, the funny part was meeting two Tranmere mates in the ground at the game who turned up in Falkirk tops !! The better team on the day will win or the ref may have an influence. The way the league cup is now, it's taken away the real opener feeling tbh, more so we will play two of our league rivals pre to the league starting. I'd have hated to have got Brechin or Inverness first.
  15. The stat bunch of us will be pleased with St mirren away, they haven't won an opener since 2006 (stat from st mirren fan) and we haven't been beaten at the Jimmy Krankie stadium I'll be abroad for it unfortunately
  16. That's stating the obvious. Takeaway his penalties and many assists and it may have been a different story. Perhaps Muurhead should watch some Tommy McQueen, he's got the penalty part sorted so far
  17. Loy spotted exchanging GBP to Hungarian Forints in Ramsden's exchange today....!!!
  18. I wonder how Houstie will fill the gap of that point he earned last season for us or his cup goals v Elgin... Only one winner in this deal and thats Bob waking up and knowing he has at least another 2yr as a full time player
  19. Surely the same formula that has seen us finish 2nd twice behind teams that had twice or so our budget to a more level playing field this season will see the formula be successful ? Nah, wanky phrases of formulas are best left back when Elvis was manager. There is no guarantee with any signing, in fact the repeated point you make of taking Dobbie as a signing makes me think he'd probably be shite for us, that's how it goes. To judge a player before kicking a ball for us is up there with re-signing McHugh coz he is shite but younger and better from the bench a year ago and for 5 games, is that another formula ?
  20. Out of all the examples of better scouting and contacts you have repeated the names McGinn and Dobbie, where both to an extent landed on their laps due to previous bonds with previously being there and McGinn having crippling injuries. Similarly this hopefully will happen with Loy and has done previously with the likes of Mark Millar, Kerr, McAllister, McGrandles etc. Yes Houston's signing policy has been flawed but I think you need a little bit of luck nowadays to pick up something unknown and worth £s. The transfers so far are the same merry go round players of which, not one in this division so far has made me shite my knickers like you have. Ourselves and St mirren are hoping we get Loy but who is next best equal or even better target ? Scottish Fitba right now is bigger clubs stealing lower clubs players and rescuing previous successful players up here, from their failures down south I'd personally like to see us plunder the loan market, we haven't used it like other clubs have in this division to their advantage.
  21. A bit of a contradiction stating folk are happy with mediocrity based on a player who hasn't kicked a ball for us and yet would've have handed the king of mediocrity a contract for the bench. Fuk McHugh made Shankland look prolific
