It is not particularly good law in my view. There is already a mechanism whereby offences such as assault and breach of the peace can have religious, racial or sexual aggravations attached to the end of the charge. Someone has suggested otherwise but even without this act there would be nothing at all stopping the police arresting someone singing a sectarian song for a section 38 breach of the peace with a religious aggravation in connection to a football match or completely independently of it.

I hope you're right but I can't see it to be honest. I've seen a few people on here suggesting those voting No will be furious a couple of years from now at the lack of change, cuts etc. That is a misunderstanding of the mindset of someone who votes No IMHO. The negative impact will be a gradual thing which is barely newsworthy and people who voted No will probably simply believe things would have been even worse had they voted for independence. There isn't going to be a magic moment of clarity.

So far as your comment in bold is concerned, I have a considerable interest in this topic for a variety of reasons and I'm happy to debate any aspect of the legalisation debate with you without anyone's assistance. In my job I see the failure of criminalisation and the war on drugs on a daily basis. I see the vast sums of money which are squandered on it. I see lives being destroyed because of it, and criminal gangs getting rich from it. I don't know Supras but everything he says on the subject appears to be logical. So I'm intrigued to hear why you think continued criminalisation is the way forward......

Supras has every right to adopt the tone he does in these threads. He has obviously done his research. If someone decides to enter a debate and spout uninformed pish why should he tip toe around pointing that out to them?

I've never seen anyone sent to prison for simple possession of a class B drug but I have seen on occasion people sent to prison or remanded for 4 weeks for possession of class A drugs. This happens, and it is costly, there is no doubt about that. And every time someone is prosecuted for possession of an illicit substance regardless of whether it is class A, B or C, you the tax payer pay criminal defence solicitors a minimum of £485 when it is prosecuted in the Sheriff Court. It is ridiculously easy money and it must cost a fortune every year. When someone is prosecuted for cannabis cultivation for example, many of whom do so because they don't want to give money to criminal gangs standing in back alleys, or for pain allieviation, the tax payer can be paying criminal defence firms thousands of pounds.

Don't worry Dave it's something I've noticed a lot of people doing at 5's. They go 5/6/7 goals down and stop counting/remembering every time the other team score. They then pull a couple of goals back and think they should effectively be level and go mental when they're told that's not the case It's very odd, I'm sure one of the P & B armchair psychologists can provide us with some sort of explanation.
