  1. That is exactly what he is saying. It's like the monetarists idea of trickle down economics. The poor should be grateful to the rich because without them they'd have even less, conveniently forgetting that without them there'd be more for most. Time for a revolution I reckon.
  2. More pish in the Evening Times from Union Jack today. He wrings a whole article out of Waghorn's hamstring and Warburton's fear that it could have been worse than it is despite Warburton not yet knowing how bad it is. I'm reporting this, but I can't post a link because I've a self-declared dispute with the Herald and Times Group about something that I can't recall.
  3. Desmond McKeown, educated at St Ninian's RC High School in Kirkintilloch? That Des McKeown?
  4. Pleasure with the start to our season is being slightly shaded by minor rage that next week's game is postponed. The big mo' and all that. Still, we have a lower league club to deal with midweek, so hopefully we'll keep things going.
  5. Last season's classic was describing the multi-capped 32 year old United goalie Kawashima as "the young goalie"
  6. That is probably the best thing about it from every club's point of view. If I could be bothered I'd go and look at who the bigger teams are putting on the park to see if they are doing the same as us and rotating folk in and out. I noticed that Moult was playing for Motherwell the other day though, despite Muttley saying that he needed an operation and that he was getting painkilling injections, which seems a bit daft if there's a league campaign to play soon.
  7. I've not seen anything earth shattering in Wilson so far, but he put in a good performance against Accies in the last game. We had to keep playing Amoo last season until he eventually reached an acceptable level, but it's one thing keeping going with a misfiring attacking option and quite another sticking with a stuttering central mid (no Welsh digs here - he's not as bad as we make out and never hides). I still think the jury's out on the boy. I trust Archie...
  8. Feel sorry for the boy TBH. Very bad timing from his point of view, but that's football.
  9. Different. Which is good and bad. Having had the same style of strip for thirty years and then having had all sorts of strips since 1970, we're definitely not all about the history.
  10. According to Graeme McGarry of the Evening Times, the strip will be launched today at Garscube. I wonder what it will be like?
  11. I hate them for not giving us all of their cash. Not real Jags fans IMO.
  12. Seems reasonable IMO. Reform an unbalanced league with two huge teams, a couple of medium sized ones and the rest minnows, so that some teams miss out on the revenue from the huge teams' visit, despite it previously having been the same for everyone. Don't see any problem with that at all.
  13. You're right 1935... I didn't think it was as recent as that. http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Scottish_Football_League/Partick_Thistle/Partick_Thistle.htm
  14. 1969 was the last year that we had a "fixed" strip that had lasted since the 1920s, which was red and yellow hoops. After that, we had two years of plain yellow with red shorts and trim, then red and yellow stripes, then all sorts of combinations of all three since that time, including some designs that we'd prefer to forget. This season's is a belter though.
  15. Just deleted a post I made earlier. I was in a bad mood. Apologies to Firhill Road, he/she's as entitled to an opinion as anyone.
