  1. Getting mario/rabbids tomorrow, has got great reviews so far
  2. I don't get the constant disappointment surrounding Houston? getting to the cup final plus one of our best ever seasons finishing just behind rangers with some brilliant results, last season wasn't as good to watch for football style or for results but it wasn't bad (the "we only finished 2nd because everyone else was rubbish" is just patronising nonsense), god knows how we'd be on here if we were to drop down a league like Raith, Dunfermline, Morton, Ayr and Airdrie have all done recently. Houston isn't psychic, he was probably like 90% of the guys on here before the 1st league game, thinking we were looking good for the season! hindsight is a wonderful thing. however, the start to the league has been shocking, we are not looking like a team and struggling defensively. hopefully a fortnight before the next league game will give us time to kick start the season, a wee run will shoot us up the league and make everyone a wee bit happier, COYB sometimes being optimistic can lead to disappointment as I'm actually looking forward to a weekend in Sligo, we live in hope....
  3. will he make a profit on the south stand then? I don't know the financial comings and goings at the club but compare someone made a huge investment (like the stand) but then got money back with fans with much less money putting money in the bairns for life or something similar not looking to get anything back just purely to help the club, what's better? if I was ever in the position of having a few million spare to build a stand, I'd like to think I'd be willing to take a loss even if I wanted most of it back!
  4. Is it to early to stick my neck out and say the pars and St Mirren away plus a draw with Dumbarton is disappointing but there's still a long way to go and we do have quality in our team, sorting the defence out would help though. You don't become a bad team overnight and you don't finish 2nd in a league because "everyone else is rubbish" either. Hopefully we'll get a good result on Saturday and Sligo will give us time to sort out problems and get players closer to fitness. sorry for being optimistic, I'm trying not to, I want to fit in, as homer simpson, the world's greatest living man said "being popular is the most important thing in the world"
  5. Falkirk tv automatically cancelled my direct debit presumably because the highlights are free now. just a wee question for any older Falkirk fans, with Sligo coming up as our first competitive game outside Scotland since Vaduz. I was wondering about another competitive match outside Scotland, the Texaco cup game v coventy back in 71-72 season, was there really between 3 and 5 thousand away fans in Coventry? or was that a bit of exaggeration by old fans to impress us younger whippersnappers? (p.s what would be the chances of us taking any top flight English team to extra time over 2 legs these days!)
  6. A bit harsh, the northern Irish and welsh teams are their best. The republic teams are the highest non European qualifiers, hardly duff sides. Sligo may be struggling in the league but if they'd had a great season and been top they'd still be in irn bru cup! Is an hours flight really any worse than a 4 hour bus trip to say brora in this cup?
  7. how many times in our history have we played a competitive fixture outside Scotland? we're not rangers/celtic make the most of it, I'm going over and I think there will be a pretty good travelling support. team are given cash towards travel by the league let's be honest, if we announced tomorrow we'd signed messi and Ronaldo guys would come on here (and one f) moaning about how the two of them couldn't play well in the same team or ask why we didn't sign a right back with the money!!
  8. I can only hope that hibs get last season's title stripped off them for drawing at Easter road with Dumbarton, the same Dumbarton who drew at tannadice and the falkirk stadium last season!! Like I said, it's to early in the season to make sweeping judgements. Despite the comments on here, we didn't finish 2nd because we were rubbish last season and we haven't became a bad team in a couple of months even with a bad couple of games played.
  9. St mirren pumped by Morton, who drew 1st game of the season with the same part time dumbarton side we did.... It's a tight league with not a huge difference between top and bottom, we have the players to do well, 2 games is far to early to judge a whole season.
  10. And you've conveniently missed out the league cup games where we played well or do we pick and choose what games we can call like friendlies when it suits our arguments, we could've had st mirren dead and buried if we took our chances and the same with Dumbarton, where incidentally we looked a far better team once Harris came on. I'm not saying we've started well but things aren't as bad as you believe by reading the stuff on here.
  11. I know we were poor 2nd half v St Mirren and poor v Dumbarton but the reaction on here is totally over the top.
  12. this must be true, we haven't went up therefore we don't want to go up!! lets assume all our directors are 100% committed to staying within budget and put ever putting a penny into the club, they must look at clubs with smaller supports in the spfl (ie, st johnstone) who can pay better wages than us but are also staying within budget due to the tv money, sponsorship, bigger away crowds etc, would you rather then finish in play offs and not go up or go up and do exactly the same in the spfl, keep in a budget etc but instead of having to go to places like alloa, ayr, Dumbarton or livy you are going to ibrox, parkhead, Aberdeen etc ever couple of weeks and the added bonus of getting less stick from the support as we are in the top league? it's a no-brainer, heard the same "we don't want to go up" " we can't afford to go up" crap in the 80s, funny it stopped when we went up. that's not to say things are great or we don't have problems, I said in the Dumbarton match thread that Houston is to negative sometimes and the lack of natural full backs is a big problem. however it's early in the season and all teams will drop loads of points this season as there isn't a big difference in standard between top and bottom, we hit a run of form and we'll be right in the mix at the end of the season COYB.
  13. hopefully we'll get a good result tomorrow, if only to stop the massive overreaction and slaughtering of the team on here. 1 or 2 games don't make a team or players suddenly rubbish, we will be there about at the end of the season. i'll stick my neck out on here and say that after watching a few development games last season, I agree with houstie that there is a player in shepherd (I'm possibly the only one who agrees with him about this), maybe needs more 1st team game time instead of 20 minutes here and there when we are up against it. one last thing, looking at the COYB facebook page, can someone tell me what guys get out of trolling a page and why do so many people respond to obvious (and unfunny) wind up posts? p.s I really do like shepherd and am not at the wind up!!
  14. Looking forward to madness tonight, seen them years ago in Edinburgh when there was a riot at the gig. Half the guys on our bus thought Xmas had come early, madness and a fight, brilliant!!
  15. Anyone know how many tickets we got for st mirren game and how many are left? Looking to get some tomorrow.
  16. totally agree, would rather see anyone beat rangers or celtic. unlike Dunfermline fans.....
  17. All the online dating apps are great, especially if you are a bit shy as they break the ice for you (that's not an euphemism, lol). I had a few good dates through online dating sites after I split up before meeting my current girlfriend the old fashioned way ie) I was gassed in the pub, seen her look over at me so I went over and used the immortal chat up line "you fancy a drink, doll..."
  18. early days but some good signs for the season. I thought gasparotto strolled through the match and looks much sharper than last season, grant must've been practicing passing during the close season as his distribution was greatly improved today. midfield looked to go forward and less of the sideways/backwards passing and up front loy and Austin look like a good partnership with loy dropping deeper for the ball and Austin looking for through balls, will stretch and cause problems for a lot of teams based on today.
  19. got the dlc but haven't had a chance to get into it yet. doubt i'll get a chance to this week as my boy is going to be hogging the switch to play the dlc himself!! does look good though, adds well to the game.
  20. The lack of signings so far (although there's still plenty of time before league starts) would be more of a worry if we hadn't finished 2nd last season and have an excellent under 20s team, some of whom will break through. To much negativity on here, we will have every chance of winning the league next season! Although seeing what happened to raith last season (and nearly to last season's dark horses st mirren, how did their title challenge go?) an added bit of quality to the squad would be good. People need to realise next season will be a very tight league from top to bottom.
  21. Falkirk's best ever season was in 1913, 2nd in the top league and Scottish cup winners, no question about that. best season that different fans can remember is another question!
  22. decided to have a look at season ticket prices, I've never bought one since Brockville due to work. next season I will miss 6 of the 18 home games, so at £20 for the other 12 games then £240 in total, season ticket at early bird price is £250 however 20% off meals at nandos, kfc and sportsters could be worth over £10 during a season so we might actually get a new season ticket holder this season!
  23. last season the season ticket numbers were so high of how we done the season before, there was some brilliant games and results v rangers and hibs especially and we played some good attacking football. last season didn't have quite so much excitement and so this season, ticket sales will probably be slightly less. does anyone really think there are a thousand plus fans sitting waiting for some "marquee" signing before getting a season or not?? lets imagine we were to splash out on a big name signing, say we offered £3,000 a week. we'd be looking at someone well known enough to make fans part with a few hundred pounds maybe an international or ex international, obviously the player must not be on the radar of any Scottish team like hibs, hearts or Aberdeen or he'll go there, or the vast majority of English league clubs (and possibly odd conference side as well!) or he'd go there. the player mustn't be to old or the signing would be written off as a has been looking for a pension top up, he mustn't be injury prone either. worldwide (that'll show them about lazy signings!) there must be thousands of top quality international big name players that'd jump at the chance to sign for us on that sort of money
  24. Hippo and Austin up front, I reckon we'd get approximately 350 penalties next season (184 v dunfermline )
