  1. It's not just about the goals, Austin won't be anywhere near the same money as dobbie is on, he's loads younger and has a potentiality very high resale value!
  2. I know Houston gets it in the neck over signings but look at last season, he was abused all season but Austin has been a stand out, craigen once he settled has looked good, Henderson is 20 and is one for the future (I thought he looked good in under 20s) Rankin didn't work and the jury is out on Kidd. Austin was probably the best signing in the league last season. Hardly a disastrous season of signings!
  3. I always thought that if I won mega millions on the lotto or euro millions, that I'd takeover the club and put a few million in. The more I read forums like this or the Facebook page, the more I think no chance would I go near a football club, just constant dog's abuse with no chance of pleasing anything like everybody even if we're going well!!
  4. Easy way to find out if it's a foal or not, just ask it to kick once for yes or twice for no!
  5. Nothing to do with the club it's just I'm one of those very very rare things, an optimistic positive falkirk fan Edit to add, I know I should've had any optimism knocked out of me years ago watching us!
  6. I'm pretty sure if you looked back on here and one f, that virtually everyone who has come through the academy and went on to bigger things was written off or told they'd never make it or only make it at a lower level. You can't say Arfield or Kingsley won't make it now but is easy to slag the young guys coming through. 5 years from now the guys criticising the development player now will be slagging the young players saying they're not a patch on Austin, Shepard, Blues or Mitchell (or whoever makes it from this squad of players!)
  7. Swimming against the tide here but I still think with a run in the team Shepard can be a good player for us. Haven't seen the Airdrie guy but Austin has proved (if proof was needed!) that there is quality in the lower leagues. As usual most transfer deals will be done towards the start of next season. Lucky we have a support that won't panic about this....
  8. that is a good question, I just tend to ignore the bigots and racists on my timeline rather than bin them, maybe if it was getting posted all the time I'd get fed up and defriend. I could easy lose another 20 plus from my timeline by binning everyone who either wants deportation or internment, is scary the number of people who think the best way to defend freedom and democracy is to scrap any evidence based trials or restrict what woman of a certain religion can wear!
  9. I've an old primary school pal on Facebook who is now conducting a one man boycott of "Indian and packie shops" has numerous posts of "kill the black b*****ds" or similar. To give him credit, he is informative as his post saying "we would get our heads cut off in there country" is a fascinating critique of some unknown countries justice system!! I was going to post on his timeline we should deport all those who can't read or write English, send them back to "there" country, but I don't think he'd get it...
  10. As risky as not having a back up keeper or someone who can push Thompson? McKee has done well and deserved a contract. Going by this forum we should only sign top quality players who will get us up, every signing should get the fans excited, the player can never have had an injury, the player should be experienced but not over the hill, can only have played at the top level with bigger teams than us as we should never sign anyone who has even been in Dumbarton never mind played for them. P.s any player who fill the above and signs for us will then be written off for any number of other reasons before playing for us!! P.s any player who is even close to the above specifications and would be slaughtered if signing for us will, if signing for any other team be a reason for much wailing and gnashing of teeth by our support and used to crucify the board and Houston! Can we no just give the team the benefit of the doubt and wait and see how comes in and who goes??
  11. at any sane club, houstie would be getting plaudits for getting as close as he has to far bigger teams. he gets slaughtered for signings but made the best signing in the league last season in Austin (only injury stopped him making an impact earlier in the season). imagine the board had listened to the "advice" they get on here and one f every close season and blew the budget trying to outspend or compete with rangers, hibs or hearts, the club would be totally ****** (use your own swear word!) I really don't get the idea that the board don't want to go up, everything points to us wanting to go up, there's more money, more prestige, more publicity, bigger crowds. next season the league is more wide open than it's been for years, hopefully a couple of the development squad will break through and we get a couple of players who can make the difference, and let's be honest here, no matter who we get in will get slagged off for being too inexperience, or not experienced enough or some other reason wrote off before he gets a chance, is it just me that finds so many of our support are just so negative and pessimistic? roll on next season, hopefully it'll be our year COYB!!
  12. got to admit I won't be devastated if houstie were to call it a day although I wouldn't be bothered if he carries on. next season looks like the most wide open for years and we'll have every chance of going up as champions obviously this depends on who comes in and who leaves, and how other clubs recruit but with no rangers/hibs type in the league it should be a competitive league. we have a good squad with some potential in the under 20s, so looking forward to next season, hopefully the crowds hold up as the support this season has been excellent.
  13. The play off at easter road we were down most of the match, the fans hardly pulled the players over the line, the away stand was hardly bouncing. The team did the job, the idea the fans made the difference is laughable. To anyone with any degree of intelligence or not at the wind up (could be either or both from the hibs fan!) to turn fans away from big games that won't sellout, while teams spend all season trying to attract more fans is a crazy move. I was going with a couple of mates, one not a falkirk fan but wanting to go as a neutral, one a season ticket holder so we would be sitting apart at the game. The game is a social as well as sporting event so it'll be getting watched in the pub now instead of at the game .
  14. the whole of Scottish football is desperate to attract support, we get to one of the biggest games of the season and would rather have empty seats than fans in creating an atmosphere. short term gain of maybe (and it is just a maybe) having a slight advantage in the home leg by having less away fans against having a showpiece game with a better atmosphere that might in the long term attract some supporters back to games again. last season games with bigger away supports really got the home fans going so is there really an advantage? last seasons playoffs, played in a good atmosphere like the pumping of hibs was excellent and attracts supporters back as shown in our crowds this season when we haven't been as good to watch.
  15. just seen the ticket arrangements for the 1st leg of play off. can only hope Morton stuff Dundee united tonight and if they don't we do. have always said no matter who the championship team is in play off final in any year that I hope they'd go up, that has changed and I hope if us or Morton don't then motherwell, Hamilton, Dundee etc pump united. disgraceful way to treat away fans, limiting them to 1,500 tickets when they have a bigger area available.
  16. I totally agree that we need to go and want to go up, I'm just saying that because we have a slightly bigger budget or are (currently) getting a good support, it doesn't mean you automatically go up.
  17. was back then I started going regular, I mind for years I though 2,500 was a big crowd! this isn't true, 1978 is only about 12 or 13 years ago...I think
  18. years in the lower league and yet we're getting over 4,000 home fans per game, last season was one of the best ever as a fan even if we didn't go up, we are on our soundest financial footing since we went down, hardly a damning indictment of the board! lets look at who won the league, hibs? are we bigger? deserve or should finish above them? last season rangers, before that hearts, before that Dundee...by your own look at our support/size argument we shouldn't go up in any of those seasons. other winners, partick very similar size to us and ross county who are smaller in support but have very sizable financial backing. there's no reason why we couldn't stay in the top flight for a long time, like you say ict and Hamilton have done it but that works both ways, hearts, hibs both Dundee teams who are all bigger than us have fallen out of the top flight so they're no automatic reason why we should be up there!
  19. And dunfermline, airdrie, ayr, morton have all been further down, raith could go this season and St mirren could've easily went down as well. We will go higher and we will go lower than where we are. Not saying we couldn't do better but we could also do a lot worse.
  20. Who cares about the crowd size! If it's that vital let's merge the old firm into a Glasgow United, hibs and hearts into Edinburgh, have a central team, Fife, Tayside etc... We'll go up at some point, St Johnston will go down, it's all swings and roundabouts. In stadium queue, around 60 to 70 in line for south stand. 30 or so for main stand tickets.
  21. What an incredibly positive support we are. Bad run in December, and on here and one f had us fighting relegation or very lucky if we scraped into the play offs. End of season and we'll get pumped in play offs, maybe a wee chance against Hamilton! The logic seems to be, we got beat by killie last season so we'll never beat a premier team ever again. We've every chance of going up, no matter who finishes 2nd bottom and if we get through 1st play off.
  22. Similar, in the same way you know what your getting with fifa, cod, golf, other racing games etc!
  23. Got mario kart but haven't had more than a couple of goes so far as i'm still plodding through zelda. My boy likes it, having completed the story in zelda he was needing something else and mario kart is fine, no control issues and a good game. You know what you're getting if you've played previous mario kart games.
  24. the difference with the facebook page is that a lot of the crap that gets posted just isn't serious, it's folk on the wind up. saying houstie must go, for the umpteenth time so you get 100 comments and 50 likes just isn't funny but it seems to make some fans day! the lee miller/crossbar challenge is just the same, say anything to get likes. it's a shame though as the facebook page really was a great addition for Falkirk fans when it started up before the cup final, unfortunately it was probably inevitable it'd go downhill from there.
  25. not wanting to get into the crowds to much but at the St Mirren game the away fans compensated for a lower than normal main stand crowd, was far more in main stand yesterday, don't think there's anything dodgy about our crowds. as for the game, for one of the few time this season we came out firing, could've been a couple up and played well then lost a horrendously stupid/easy goal! struggled 2nd half even with most of the ball but queens always looked dangerous on the break with our defending being at times all over the place. as for the big decisions, was hard to tell from the south stand for the disallowed goal, but penalty decision looked soft, up our end the ball never crossed the line. Austin looked good again, Sibbald is class but we're all left sided and to slow going forward, why do 1 pass when 5 passes will do!! finally the queens keeper, middle of the 1st half and he's time wasting for Scotland. I could maybe see the point if they were 1 up with 5 mins left and needing a win to stay up or something (and even then it's wrong) but 1st half in a basically meaningless game for them, absolutely shocking. St Mirren and Dumbarton were also guilty of this and it really does need stamped out, kills the game as entertainment when we should be trying everything to make games more entertaining, better value for money and attracting more fans to games. I don't normally slag refs but the players get away with time wasting because the refs don't take action.
