Yeah must admit Hart I just assumed was your typical big mouth player but games for us you can see him organising more than I can remember any other keeper. You see him speaking to coaches on the bench more and he’s pulled a few players away from controversy. Add in his sweeping/distribution that I had discounted his ability to do he’s been way more than just a shot stopper for us.

Joe Hart has been outstanding. The signing was ridiculed by many on here and I was unsure based on his ability with the ball at his feet.

Happy to eat my words, the big man is class

It's interesting that you make this observation of the new world champion, just after a race in which he cleanly overtook and defended against Hamilton multiple times (who 'cheated' by using an escape route to retain his place). And a driver whose main cause of unreliability in the 2021 season were a pair of Mercedes cars whose drivers conveniently forgot where their brake pedal was.

Clearly this is a Verstappen problem though.

Cheated 😂 That’s a hot take that as really Hamilton had nowhere else to go unless you preferred he stood his ground and crashed?

But the thing is drivers will look to gain an advantage by pushing the rules as far as they can forcing stewards to make a decision just like Verstappen did on the last lap by making 3 different changes of direction after overtaking Hamilton to try break the tow which you will know isn’t allowed but also went unpunished.

They both got away with it, on another day where less was at stake both of them probably would have gotten penalties

  3. In the context of this season that goal is massive, absolutely massive especially considering the 3 points looked to be gone after the red card.

And it’s football isn’t it? It’s the only time when we get to lose ourselves a little so folk whining about fans celebrating and a few spilling onto the park need to wind their neck in a bit.

The funny thing here is that Senna , Lewis' absolute idol and person whose flag he is happy to adopt to ingratiate himself to all Senna's fans, would 100% have been the Max Verstappen character in this year's championship.

Not to mention the stuff that went on in the Prost/Senna title battles makes this year's 'farcical ending' seem like nothing more than a playground scuffle.

There is an old Top Gear episode just before the launch of Senna where Clarkson does a segment on him ironically featuring Lewis Hamilton driving Sennas old McLaren MP4/4.

In this segment Martin Brundle talks about Senna and his tendency to lunge into corners saying that Senna would deliberately do this and make the person he was overtaking decide if they were going to crash or not and if that driver backed out he then had them and knew all he had to do in the future was show them a wheel up the inside and they would back off. Describes Max’s style perfectly imo.

Its a good segment and worth a watch

Some of the reaction about this has been pure hyperbole and awful takes. If I see another 'it's like being so many goals up in football' tweet or analogy...

Safety cars are a ballache for leaders with big leads and that isn't the longest lead wiped out. Infact the shortness of the lead was part of the problem, Hamilton couldn't pit without losing track position to Verstappen.

I kind of feel for Masi slightly all in all. I understand bunching the cars can aid the marshals deal with an incident but for Latifi's accident it felt that it wasn't consistently needed. I wonder if you could, where appropriate, let lapped cars through as the incident is being cleared up.  A "lapped cars may overtake safety car and unlap themselves except turns 12-15 where the incident is" could have potentially sorted that earlier in safety car period and stop the needless SC laps whilst the field arranges. I realise FIA's focus is on clearing the incident but you theoretically can leave it to drivers and teams to work out if they were eligible to unlap.

The main issue in sorting this out is that, for once, Red Bull and Verstappen did nothing wrong.

At the risk of getting red dotted to f**k again 😂

You are right RB and Verstappen did nothing wrong, they played the hand they were dealt to perfection the issue is Masi knowingly dealt them the aces they needed.

What I mean by that is the issue is Masi being inconsistent in his application of the sporting regulations. An example of which being last years Eiffel Grand Prix when Lando Norris crashed and a safety car was called for, drivers and teams complained about duration of the safety car, speeds, effects on the tyres etc etc.

Masi said at the time “There is a requirement in the Sporting Regulations to wave all lapped cars past” If that’s the case why wasn’t it applied on Sunday? For the simple fact it would have meant the race finishing under a safety car and that isn’t what he wanted to see but by not being consistent he has manufactured the outcome of the Drivers Championship. There is also nothing written in the regulations to suggest any one rule overrules another so essentially the FIA is marking their own homework which again seems quite unique to the sport.

Now it would unthinkable to overturn the decision as Max is a completely innocent party in this, he was presented with an opportunity and he took it like any other driver would have if they found themselves in the same position, however Masis position isn’t tenable after this. In every sport people just want a consistent application of the rules no matter if you agree with the rule or not, this doesn’t happen in F1 and it’s to it’s detriment.

I’d rather we didn’t risk Kyogo ahead of the cup final, it’s just tempting fate. What it likely means is Montgomery comes in on the left but f**k me we are past the bare bones of who we have available.

I don’t think Turnbull works at centre forward however makes more sense than risking Kyogo. Personally I’d be tempted to look at young Vata and have a roll of the dice but that’s me probably being too keen to see some of the younger lads given a shot and it makes it more tragic what happened to Karamoko as there have been numerous opportunities this season where he could have been given time on the park

That’s three more for my notebook @Jinky67. My notebook is fair filling up, against only one thing on my piece of paper. And it’s only been about three weeks since I started compiling the evidence for you.

It can’t be a penalty when an offside has been called. And didn’t KVV kick the ball away just as Hart tried to take a goal kick/free kick resulting in him putting his leg where the ball should have been? The Hart punch I need to see again.

Oh and if you haven’t noted the Mugabi tackle on Rogic it’s just further evidence you see what you want to see

Hi Lewis, safe flight home mate.

I’m not a Mercedes fan mate nor do I particularly like Lewis Hamilton however I’ve been a F1 fan for 35 years and what I saw yesterday was embarrassing for the sport. When you start changing or applying your own interpretation of the rules to influence the outcome of a race for entertainment value you can’t really consider yourself a sport especially when that interpretation loads the dice for someone who was never actually in the race for 57 out of the 58 laps.

  9. Michael Masi is turning F1 into a reality Netflix show. The decision he made yesterday to allow some lapped cars to pass didn’t make it more exciting it made the outcome inevitable as there was no way Hamilton would be able to defend.

Hamilton didn’t deserve to lose the WDC in this way especially considering he had a 11 second lead prior the SC and Verstappen also doesn’t deserve his title being overshadowed in the manner it is.

The integrity of F1 is in tatters after this season, can see Mercedes going all the way to CAS

He was playing last night so would imagine he’s not going to be in Sundays squad. Moffat and Dawson were left out of it though so guessing they will be in or around the squad. For some reason I thought the Colts team were not allowed to play for first team unless they move within a transfer window but I clearly have just made that up.

I think they can play a certain amount of games for the 1st team,  if I remember rightly from a Rangers Q&A video.

    It’s 5 games I believe

    Did we aye?

Yes, you did. The result is irrelevant. That was not the starting eleven of a club which cared about victory.

Did we play like a club who didn’t care about winning the game?
