  1. It’s ok mate we are calling him The Brendan Rodgers so what you referred to didn’t really happen
  2. He also needs financial backing which wasn’t happening at Leicester in the last couple of seasons. They were loosing too many players for free and the ones they did recoup huge fees for such as Fofana that money wasn’t then being made available for reinvestment to bring in similar quality hence why they were bringing in the likes of Harry Souttar. Rodgers abilities as a coach wasn’t the single point of failure, the board at Leicester are pretty culpable for the position they now find themselves in
  3. I’m not sure you will see that continuity in playing style. Rodgers is generally more pragmatic than Ange and plays with a double pivot and a 10 where Ange is more orthodox 433 with a single pivot and inverted fullbacks.
  4. I think that has to be the measure, it has to improve. What is certain is if he does come back he will have wanted cast iron guarantees that he will be backed due to it being such a bone of contention last time.
  5. Brendan Rodgers and John Hughes in the same post. Comedy indeed. Hopefully you are still laughing if history repeats itself
  6. It’s the logical choice considering who was in the frame. We appoint a city group manager with under 20 games as a first team manager which was a car crash or Rodgers who won everything in front of him up here domestically and has also had success in the Premier League? He’s probably the one you were desperate for us not to get.
  7. Right! The noise is it’s pretty much done and it’s a 3 year deal which if true is a break from the norm for us.. Leeds apparently looked to hijack at the 11th hour Brendan Rodgers has sold Celtic a plan to re-establish the Scottish champions as a competitive force in Europe. The Northern Irishman is on the brink of a stunning return to Parkhead as manager, four years since he left for Leicester City. Mail Sport broke the news of chief executive Michael Nicholson and finance director Chris McKay flying by private jet to Mallorca for face-to-face talks with the club’s number one managerial target on Saturday. Further to those discussions, Rodgers has also held a number of in-depth conversations with major shareholder Dermot Desmond to thrash out his conditions for a second stint in Glasgow. Key to the 50-year-old agreeing to a return is an undertaking by Celtic’s board of directors that they will invest in the players and infrastructure necessary to drive the club forward in Europe. Frustrated by the glass ceiling on transfer spending during his first spell in charge, Rodgers wants to see the football operation reshaped and is now speaking to potential members of his backroom team. Power broker: Celtic's major shareholder Dermot Desmond arrived in Glasgow on Tuesday . Attempts to persuade assistant manager John Kennedy to stay put in Glasgow are under way. Ange Postecoglou, who left Celtic to sign a four-year deal at Tottenham Hotspur, wants the Parkhead No2 to join him in North London. Kennedy is currently considering his options. After leaving Leicester in April, Rodgers intended to take time out of the game but has since been made several offers to make a quick return. Recently relegated from the Premier League, Leeds United were keen to open negotiations, with other clubs also interested in the former Liverpool and Swansea boss. A return to Celtic, where he won each of the seven trophies available to him from 2016, holds greater appeal. Old Bhoys' network: John Kennedy, left, could stay at Celtic if Rodgers returns Rodgers is also thought to be motivated by a desire to mend his relationship with those supporters who turned on him after his sudden exit four years back. Reluctant to place all their eggs in one basket, Celtic have considered a range of candidates and spoken to some via Zoom. Bodo/Glimt manager Kjetil Knutsen has been mentioned in dispatches after talks with Ajax broke down. Enzo Maresca, one of Pep Guardiola’s trusted assistants at Manchester City, will speak with the newly crowned European champions about his future this week. The 43-year-old is understood to have already talked to Leicester about their vacancy and his preference is to remain working in English football. Former Norwich manager Daniel Farke and little-known Italian Francesco Farioli have also spoken with Celtic.
  8. You took my pedantry to a completely different level mate
  9. As much as making a c**t of myself isn’t my 1st preference it means there is still a faint hope that I get my number 1 choice of Knutsen Still inevitably going to be Rodgers though
  10. Apparently we have a preliminary agreement to sign Odin Thiago Holm from Valarenga. Nothing confirmed and would be surprised if making signings without confirmation of a new manager.
  11. In work and twitter is blocked. Was sent a text from my son so I could be getting whooshed and he’s going Leeds and it’s Eddie Howe MK2 Be some laugh that eh?
  12. Can’t speak for them all mate however it’s an abhorrent chant, it was then and still is now and the wee fannies that sing that sort of stuff need rinsed.
  13. Done deal, unveiled on Friday according to Fabrizio Romano
  14. It’s the Rolling Stones mate. Football fans in being fickle shocker. In all seriousness how quickly fans trust him again will i suppose be entirely dependant on how he comes across and ofc his performance. There are some fans who will want him to show some sort of contrition but let’s be honest that won’t happen nor does it need to.
  15. He would scud this version of Rangers too so kind of unsure what point you are trying to make tbh If it is to be Rodgers we know exactly what we are getting.
  16. Lots rumours that something is happening and that Brendan met him in London last night but Leeds are rumoured to be talking to him too. So it could be something happening however it’s more likely DD has seen the weather is nice up here, booked a tee off time somewhere and jumped on the jet.
  17. Who is pretending? It’s what we got with Brendan Rodgers, it’s part of the show alongside trophies … copious amounts of trophies so no point pretending it won’t be the same this time around If he is back I hope he is in full psychopath mode telling the tallest tales possible. I look forward to his unveiling where he will tell us how he was enjoying a few Jamesons with Brother Walfrid on the flight up.
  18. No Kennie that’s not why. Brendan Rodgers loves to spin a yarn such as the famous Danny McGrain if I’m here you are here story or the tale about Pat Bonner convincing him to take the job which Packie had no clue about Or the tale he told about a Rangers fan stopping him in the Clyde tunnel to tell him he’s a breath of fresh air or the old Patsy the hotel lady who stands outside her hotel in her Brendan hat and scarf or what about him claiming to have named his son Anton after Celtic legend Anton Rogan and then naming Anton in his Greatest Celtic 11 You really needed to stop jumping into these conversations 2 footed thinking you have a clue, you don’t
  19. As a person he’s a narcissistic, lying fucker so can’t imagine there will be too many that will hang on his every word. As a coach well it would be churlish to dismiss what he done previously and the number of players who he improved especially McGregor. The expectations of him will be higher than when he left, the squad is better and he will be expected to improve on what Ange built. Let’s see if he’s up to it. And if DD is flashing the cash he should get wee KT up the road too
  20. He is more popular than someone like Maresca considering his lack of experience and poor showing with Parma. I think how Ange left has softened the feeling towards Rodgers and most fan polls seem to be in favour of him coming back (this could also be due to the other names being mentioned) but as you mention he won’t be popular with everyone however results can quickly sway opinion.
