  1. Chelsea and Spurs are both basket cases, Potter was always on a hiding to nothing but is young enough to bounce back. I imagine his sights are firmly set on the Premier League however but he is the type of coach we should be after if Ange goes
  2. Nope, i don’t want either of them. I’d go so far to say I don’t want anyone who is what you would call Celtic minded or with a previous connection to the club. If he goes Knutsen would be my first choice even Graham Potter would intrigue me given what he did at Brighton but not sure we could afford him now after what he was earning at Chelsea. We need someone who can progress the club not just be a yes man that settles for just being in front of Rangers
  3. Ange doesn’t have a majority of wins in qualifying and his loss % is always likely to be higher since 70% of his matches played have been in the group stages or beyond, for Rodgers that is about 50% so that suggests Ange may be playing better quality more often than Rodgers, granted the tenure is different but again if Ange stays he’s going straight into Champions League.
  4. I don’t think anyone would begrudge him the move tbf my fear excluding the obvious one is that it in typical Spurs fashion it ends prematurely. He’s facing a similarish situation to the one he came into Celtic with, a squad devoid of confidence, underperforming and a lot of them looking for the exit and way off the standards they expect. Can he do the job? Absolutely. Will he be given the time he needs? That’s my worry for him. Ultimately if he goes I’m sure the fanbase will be thankful for the job he has done, he picked us up off the floor, rebuilt us a good squad and if a new manager comes in it’s a great platform to start from but he will be hard to replace The rumour is Celtic are going to try counter any offer so I guess we will also see the value our own board place on the man
  5. I would take your point if we were talking about a significant variance here but managers who both have a win % in the 30’s? Its close enough in my opinion.
  6. Half of Rodgers games in Europe were in the qualifying stages where there is a higher propensity to win more and lose less. Rodgers won 16 matches in Europe and 10 of those came in qualifying rounds. The majority of Anges games were in group stage competition. Must be around 70% or close and half of his wins are from the group stages too. That context is important before claiming I’m being disingenuous mate. But Euro records can’t be the be all and end all and the only major determining factor which I’m sure you know only too well
  7. If he can recoup the same transfer fees and control the net spend that continues to see us profit then absolutely
  8. He has a similar win % to Brendan Rodgers had with Celtic in Europe and he went onto win a FA Cup in the Premier League. Again you allow your irrational hatred of Celtic form an opinion that actually ignores the actual facts
  9. Which also means they have more time to bounce back if it all goes tits up and let’s face it, it’s Spurs so it can quite easily go tits up.
  10. Unsure of the point you are trying to make here but since the day Neil Lennon was re-appointed we have went on to win 7 from the next 11 trophies available so I’d say it’s turned out not too badly at all. How do you compare to that?
  11. Arne Slot from Feyernoord and yes he was reportedly offered the role including a substantial pay rise but stayed put due to Spurs not being in Europe and Feyenoord being in the Champions League and them being a more interesting project. Vincent Kompany and Xabi Alonso apparently also turned down the chance to speak with Spurs. They seem to be a bit of a poison chalice, I’ve no doubt Ange will speak to them but there does seem to be something putting many of them off. Naglesmann apparently has just turned down Napoli also as they can’t meet his salary expectations.
  12. Normally I’d agree but there is now a line forming of managers turning their nose up at the Spurs job such as Naglesmann and Slot. You would think for Slot at least this would be just as great an opportunity for him as it would be for Ange. Makes me wonder what they see or hear that has made them walk away.
  13. According to Fabrizio Romanos podcast, Luis Enrique is just waiting to be asked and he is expected to talk with Spurs like Ange will. Could be a few twist and turns yet and there is hugely negative feeling towards Ange from Spurs fans, the majority of them seem to want Enrique. The interview he gave today referencing how he was regarded as a joke appointment and how the Celtic fans collectively embraced him as one of our own does suggest he knows he won’t get that support elsewhere but is that enough for him to stay? Either way I think we will know by Tuesday at the latest.
  14. Bit ironic that mate when your own gaffer is carrying a decent amount of excess timber himself
  15. Granted he’s younger but would that not also apply to Arne Slot? He’s paid a similar salary to what Ange is
  16. Don’t think there were many Celtic fans claiming he was nothing better than a binman, he would be sacked by Xmas, hasnt managed at a level higher than our championship etc etc etc. And I suppose the positive is that at one point Howe was odds on and some had suspended betting with the closest then being Roy Keane. How quickly that picture changed.
  17. Thistle get another i struggle to see County coming back from it. Would be great to see Thistle back up imo
  18. Ok but that post wasn’t quoting you nor were you being a tool like the person I was quoting
  19. Well Arne Slot has told them to bolt based on them not having European Football maybe Ange is cut from a similar cloth? Slot is also paid a similar salary to Ange and with Enrique now being available and angling for a preferred move to the EPL he will be what the fans demand If he has to go to the EPL I’d rather it wasn’t Spurs, they are a basket case whose growth is stunted by the nutter in charge. I’d wish him well but fear for him also
  20. Except for the small fact he hasn’t actually left yet. Feel free to come back if and when that is announced though instead of arriving a little prematurely.
  21. And has he left? There will be no Ange in the dugout come Saturday to help guarantee you European group stage football?
  22. He’s an Aberdeen fan On Knutsen I’d have him in a second however he’s being strongly touted for Ajax.
