  1. Hi Folks. I attended yesterday's match a a neutral, and although the better side certainly won, it was hardly a Clyde performance to live long in the memory of the home support, I would suggest. That old cliche about playing poorly yet still winning was never more apt. A few pix'n'scribbles may be found here if anyone is interested: https://ian38018.blogspot.com/2011/05/clyde-broadwood-stadium.html (Scroll down past the 1998 Stenhousemuir stuff)
  2. When did we start all this pish? I am old enough to remember the East Region Leagues being "A" and "B", and no-one thought any the less of them for it. Top tier then became "Super", second tiers became "Premier". Who exactly did we think we were fooling with this semantic mucking about? Sponsors? Supporters? The Media? Or just ourselves?
  3. I was mocking the fact a "Super" League is supposed to consist of the top sides in a set up. How can all the clubs play in a Super League? And my club is staying too...............as you would have noticed, had you not FAILED to glance to your left.
  4. Welcome to 2018 I do hope you enjoyed your long sleep.
  5. The novelty aspect is true, but ultimately we should all remember next season we are going to watching the same chaps (i.e. those not good enough to attract a league club) playing the same sport in front of similar-sized attendances as this season, albeit (for some of us) at a few different grounds. Like as not the same clubs will still be hoovering up the baubles. Plus ca change.....etc
  6. That what was I was thinking - if "Pollok and the Ayrshire big guns" apply to the SoS League, the subsequent tsunami of applications would lead to the SoS becoming the WoS almost by default. Interesting Times.
  7. I can see the attraction there, if the sums do add up as you state.
  8. Fair comment. My point was I wonder if the payments would still be as attractive when 50 clubs compete in the Preliminary Round, as opposed to a dozen or whatever. That pot ain't gonna be bottomless.
  9. I am not advocating either stance. Just a latecomer attempting to catch up. Surely for each new club joining the seniors the pot of lucre will be more thinly spread. Each addition reduces the attraction. And the more distant those lucrative later rounds of the Scottish Cup prizes will be.
  10. Thanks. The term Fool's Gold springs to mind.
  11. Thanks for that. Presumably the same financial opportunities are available to junior clubs in Ayshire, say, should they choose to join the SoS League?
  12. I have taken my eye off the ball here, so the extent of these defections has surprised me. What are the attractions? I cannot imagine it is solely the remote possibility of duelling with the likes of Peterhead and Cowdenbeath in League Two is the driving force. Nor the even remoter possibility of drawing a Big Lad in the early rounds of the Scottish Cup. Are these clubs running towards something, or is it more a case of running from something?
  13. Thanks - we could be in WWII Lanark & Lothians League numbers soon !
  14. So, for the benefit of those of us with arithmetic problems, how many former East Region (i.e not Fife/Tayside) clubs are still, at present, junior clubs?
  15. How about a Cat kennel in the Main Stand at Brechin: http://ian38018.blogspot.co.uk/2017/02/glebe-park-brechin-city.html or A herb garden in the corner of McDairmid Park http://ian38018.blogspot.co.uk/search?updated-max=2011-05-09T07:43:00-07:00&max-results=1 (Sorry about the links, but my pix are bigger than 2MB Ian
  16. Just peeking into the picture at the left hand side, looks like part of Helenvale - yet another ground. It certainly was a busy part of the world for the fitba'.
