Is the country in a worse state than the 60's/70's? Living standards looked pretty shit back then, I doubt mental health was even discussed, were public services and future prospects all that better?

We had a sword attack down here last week where the victim thankfully never died. Is it possible there are just a higher percentage of fuckwits in our society nowadays?

Media coverage is massively different and it’s hard to try compare different eras as a result.  Does the London attack gain any significant traction if it’s not filmed for social media? I suspect it would have just gone down with a police statement and a local journalist covering it mostly by quoting said statement 50 years ago.

Stats all back up that’s society as a whole is safer now than days gone by

The SFA aren't going to investigate a doctor who says he's had to visit a patient, or just an unavoidable shift. Tick the boxes and get on with it is what they want. I don't think any club have lost their license anyway, despite some proper pish taking from the likes of Fort William.

They aren't going to investigate a doctor,  They will investigate a club if on 20 occasions your club doctor wasn't available.

Losing a licence, maybe not, but quite a few  clubs have been downgraded and that's the danger if you try and game a bronze licence.

  3. Samuel is a good pest, and teams including us have had success with that type of player at this level.

We have too many options of strikers that a good at 'the other things' without anyone getting enough goals.  And if we're looking to bring in another of that type keeping kane on would be preferable.  Even jak would be considered alongside samuel, I don't think there's much between them.

A Dunfermline or Falkirk might appeal in the Championship because he could still get game time, but that's also presuming that Falkirk and Dunfermline could afford to pay the compensation required.

Aye, I think you need to go back as far as kenny since we brought a manager in from another club.

Does anyone actually know McCabe's contract situation? Is there a risk he runs down his deal or has a cheap release clause?

Imo if its the same as spl rules i don't think you are allowed to play against your parent club but could be wrong.

spfl rules explicitly ban it. SFA and wosfl don't state and looking at the darvel post it seems suggested the league allow it.

I think it raises an interesting question if an spfl club loan to to a non spfl club what would be the deal if they met in the scottish cup.

  6. If Airdrie don't go up but McCabe has them performing at a similar level next season he'll be at a premiership club before the season is finished.

This 'he'll not go to a club who won't give him time' is nonsense.   If he suspects a club may be trigger happy all he'll do is make sure he contractedly protected . Lets say he goes to dundee united as an example, has them 12th and 6 points off 11th and gets sacked.

In that scenario,  he walks into the next championship job with premiership experience , his bank balance boosted and only minimally harmed reputation.

Neither he or airdire are special cases to be immune from the economic realities of football.

If we want to be top 4 at least, and hopefully challenge, that is not going to happen with a squad who's average age must be low 20s. The young lads should be introduced slowly and carefully but the core of the squad should be experienced enough to complete and carry these younger players through. Too often, we're looking at Hamilton, Otoo, MFW, Edwards, McCann, Moffat, Allan, Comrie, etc to dominate established teams and Championship players and that's hugely naive.

I generally agree we do especially early season went with too small and too inexperienced squad. You can't count Comrie in that list be tho, he's 27 with 200 appearances under his belt.  We're also affected that guys like o'halloran and chalmers can't even get on as subs when there the most experienced players we have..

Goodwill only goes so far, and whilst a lot of folk are probably OK (albeit not exactly happy) with writing this season off, they won't accept the same next season, and nor should they.

Aye, there are some at the club who don’t seem to particularly like fan pressure and if they don’t like it now they are in for a very big shock at what’s going to come if we perform at the same level again next season.

Yes, clubs are now required to have a bronze licence to enter the playoffs. It was previously entry. This is a very recent change. It is probably in reaction to five established SPFL clubs being relegated in recent years.

Probably more a reaction to how horrendously shit medowbank is and if that can get an entry licence then the spfl rules need to demand more.

  10. As much as the sfa can be shit at times they’ve been given no choice here,

buckle have acted the c**t and got what they deserved.

Play-off place shouldn’t be pushed down to 2nd IMO but the clubs who have missed out should be pushing for charges to be brought against Buckie to try deter clubs from doing the same in the future

. I think a good loan spell in league one could be very helpful.

Fans of all clubs state this for youth players,  but the big thing is how do you prove your player is good enough to go make a difference at a lower level? Loanee clubs aren't interested in potential, they want someone who is going to come in and do a job straight off the bat.   Ok he wasn't training with Elgin which makes things harder but Tod couldn't prove himself as worthy of starting spot at a poorly performing side last year as an example.  Do we think he or others would walk into a league 1 club and find get 30+ starts?

Yeah. I mean years down the line. There's certain moments I've seen that just catch the eye and when you consider he's 17.  Five years down the line we could have a very good player.

Could being the big word here, as it is with every single youth player, the best youth coaches and scouts in the world are utterly terrible and I can't emphasise that enough at identifying who will go on to make it, I'm not betting my chances as a fan at being better than that.

It could be worse…we started out with planners assuming people would figure out the “new” roundabouts…nope…cue first series of signs:

That didn’t stop people from turning left IMMEDIATELY and going the wrong way on the roundabout to turn left…cue round two:

Nah, the dot wasn’t helping, and neither did the curved line version…cue round three, adding overhead signage directly over each lane:

    IMG_0796.jpeg.1c124e9d221f5f80084cafe502892719.jpeg

Mild improvements in compliance, but still way to many who treat the entrance to a roundabout as a stop line before proceeding. And, yes, the lanes are clearly marked for each carriageway and the required exit point halfway around, and yet…

Aren't some states still giving out licences for collecting a few cereal box vouchers and driving round a car park?  Understanding roundabouts is so fucking simple you surely shouldn't be able to get/keep one if you can't comply.

Wrong, but I suppose 75% of the traffic from the 2 lanes is going south towards Stirling.

That doesn’t match my experience, especially when it’s heavily clogged up mostly traffic is heading north.  That matches us with the both lanes allowing for straight on

I think there's an argument for a bigger second tier

There was some talk, I think just before Covid that this had been bounced around clubs with a few murmurs of support largely from mid/smaller FT clubs with a bit of self-preservation that they'd be more secure as being a minimum 2nd tier club.  But like everything it was killed off very quickly when it was clear it would never get through a vote.
