  1. Dunbar United have popped a 200 seater stand up in three days. In the right colours for QP too.
  2. The Lost Final. Pat Nevin presenting a documentary on the 1982 U18 European Championship winning Scotland team. Enjoyable. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episodes/m0018mch/the-lost-final
  3. This is my favourite wheat beer. You see it around a few beer shops. If you're based near Midlothian, Eskbank Trading Post always has it in.
  4. Was at the John Byrne exhibition at Kelvingrove, which is absolutely superb. Going back later for a another whirl around it. Found out that the NYC production of Slab Boys in 1983 had a cast including Kevin Bacon, Sean Penn and Val Kilmer. Absolutely incredible casting. Also found out that he has a new play at the Tron this year, which I hadn't heard about, so I excitedly went online to find some tickets only to learn it was totally sold out. Sakes.
  5. Motherwell have taken inspiration from this thread with their new kit. It looks great!
  6. What is the collective noun for a group of blazers? Blizzard? Blockade? Batallion? The WOSL blazeratti were out in force at Cumnock today, and what a good job they have done to get these leagues up and running.
  7. Also at Cumnock. Silly me, I got lost on the way there, but on climbing to the top of the Cairn Table in Muirkirk, I found my way again thanks to a helpful waymarker. Hurlford won on penalties, Kilwinning managing to miss three out of five. Two red cards. Nice chicken & haggis pie. Season 2021/22 done!
  8. Have only been to GMA once. Was driving so wasn't looking for a pub, but don't remember one nearby. However, a good few people were bringing in a wee carry out from the wee shop next door to the ground (it was roasting hot that day, I had pint envy). Nobody batted an eyelid. Good ground for plane spotting also! Was a decent sized crowd at that game (by shinty standards).
  9. Broken Chanter and Martin John Henry tonight at Sneaky Pete's. Also Raveloe but I missed that bit due to late finish at work. Broken Chanter were exceptional, and Martin John Henry played a number of my De Rosa favourites (The Engineer [emoji3590]) in his set which he described as "coalminer aesthetic". Brilliant night, real tonic after a long day at work. Sneaky Pete's is a great wee venue, apart from the bits where you can hear the hand dryer over the quiet bits of the songs!! Might very well head up to Dundee to see the same line up on Saturday.
  10. Get your Squad News here. 18 players retained from the Lowland League winning squad, one loan deal finished and four players released.
  11. Tranent 2 Linlithgow Rose 1. HT. League Cup Final. All three goals from penalties. EDIT: Full Time 3-2 to Linlithgow. Storming comeback from 2-0 down.
  12. Hope Street. https://www.lostglasgow.scot/posts/maradona-on-a-high-614/
  13. Diego Maradona a few classes above the Scottish players at Hampden in 1979. That would have been a game worth seeing.
  14. A literal side by side comparison here!
  15. Nope. I am not joining some Calmac pile-on here. I'm pretty objective about their service. I do use it often enough, seldom with complaint. I was literally onboard the Coruisk when I took that photo. I can assure you that this new bathtoy is a significant downgrade on the Coruisk in terms of passenger areas. Here's another image, judge for yourself. Imagine being onboard that with a couple of coachloads of Iona bound pilgrims on a Saturday morning in summer season.
  16. Incredibly sad and tragic news from the world of shinty today. Andy MacKintosh of Newtonmore has died at the tender age of 31. I saw him play many times, an instantly recognisable part of a very successful team, and the captain of the Camanachd Cup winning team of 2018 amongst numerous playing accolades. The impact of this sad event on his community has clearly been profound. It is such a desperately sad thing to endure. Words can only mean very little at a time like this, but should any of his friends or family happen to read this you have my deepest sympathy, and please know he made an impact on many of us who follow this sport even from afar. Rest in peace.
  17. Exactly that. The Norwegians have so much money they can cast off an eight year old ferry to us, because they are now replacing all their diesel powered ferries with battery powered. They also wanted rid of this one in particular because it looks like a child's bath toy.
  18. Oh my goodness. The new £5.6m Calmac vessel for the Oban/Mull route is very small, very very small indeed. It can apparently hold 34-40 cars and 195 passengers, but that figure looks like it might be a tight squeeze. Photo here, the MV Utne / MV Loch Frisa is the one to the right of the tiny sail boat. Coming into service soon. Visit quickly before a wee gust of wind blows it back to Norway. Enjoyable wee sprint over to Mull today to make some use of my day off. Thanks to the Queen for surviving long enough to get me this day off.
  19. He was handing out the medals at the cup final at Penicuik on Sunday. He was indeed wearing a blazer.
