  1. Adding to the noob questions.....

My pensions seems to fluctuate throughout the month...and is down a chunk this month.

Is that related to the pound struggling/economy going wild due to Coronavirus etc?
My fund took a hammering in February. Stock markets took a big tumble last week, concerns over global supply chains seizing up, loss of production in the economy etc.

When the $ takes a tumble it is usually quite a sizeable fall in value as a lot of your stocks will be pegged to that currency.

I just take my monthly statements with a passing interest. It's 20/25 years to go for me before it will be divested, so ups and downs will be inevitable. I try not to panic, too much.
  2. Just booked a trip to Eriskay in the Autumn, seed entirely planted by the famous AVFTT film.

Three nights, two full days up there. One day most definitely will be spent exploring Barra (have never been), second day I might venture as far as Harris (haven't been since 2015).

Evenings in the Politician on Eriskay eating the catch of the day and getting gently pished.

Six Calmac journeys. A run up and down the A82 through Glencoe and onto Skye.

    Can't. Bloody. Wait.

EDIT: oh my days. I've just found out there is a cup final in the Barra & Uist league during my visit. Glorious.

  3. A friend of mine was looking at this but it seemed the price they were quoting to join included travel from London, even if you lived in Edinburgh?
No need to join the official coach.

The Saturday is easily achievable this year using public transport from Edinburgh, or indeed walking it. I'm probably dumping my car at Newtongrange for the day and then walking around the grounds. Longest leg is about three miles and just manageable in the gap between the games.

Alternatively two of the three legs are served by reuglar buses, the longest leg will likely need a change in Dalkeith but I haven't bothered checking up on that yet.
  4. Missed the first goal yesterday as I was otherwise detained racing in from the chippy in Stonehaven, my walk to Dunnottar having taken me a good bit longer than I'd imagined. (Jumbo haddock supper, can Irn Bru.)

Did manage to walk into Balmoral without paying. The away turnstiles were closed by time I arrived, which was just after the goal (I heard the "roar" from the car park). I walked down towards the other end and there was an exit gate wide open, so I strolled in unchallenged. Weird set up. (Normally I'd feel bad about depriving a wee team of a gate fee, but sod it, it's Cove and I've really not warmed to them.)

Had a good view of the two penalty claims in second half, looked pretty obvious penalties to me.

Also noticed the Cove goalie motioning to the ball boy near the bus shelter to slow down, and generally engaging in minor acts of time wasting. Strange behaviour when winning two nil.

In the first half a Cove substitute asked another "is your face cold, I mean do you have cold lips?". Also strange behaviour.

I just wanted to ask about the red away strip. When is it having its testimonial?

  5. Going to see king creosote in a couple of weeks do the "from Scotland with love" soundtrack with a band and the film projected. Not the type of gig is usually go to but really looking forward to it
KC Rules OK with me! Saw him at Quay Sessions a fortnight back and he was on excellent form. I'm going to the Glasgow night of the tour.
  6. Good write up in WSC. Liked the gossip about Kelty going searching for an extension lead. Nice photography by Colin McPherson, as ever, enjoying the detail of the wee goalie on the training pitch lying flat out after making a save.

This is my favourite feature in WSC, first thing I turn to read each month.
