  1. Ok for cup finals. I probably wouldn't bother any other time. Though I do wear my 2012/3 home top round the house.
  2. There are some fans who stop caring about players when they move on. I'm not one of them: it makes me incredibly happy seeing McGinn holding his own on such a big stage.
  3. Joking aside, I guess the clubs could do a lot worse than buy a few flats in decent areas for (eg) loan players to stop in.
  4. Because you've still got to make the repayments, I guess. Hell of a thing to saddle the club with in the long term, unless you literally put the money to one side and save it for an emergency, just using it for the repayments.
  5. Problem is, the simulation will never allow for teams such as Celtic and Killie utterly shitting the bed.
  6. That's weird, I genuinely thought he'd be the guy sitting. To be fair, Jim loves that solid platform of two so maybe it'll work ok.
  7. Where you reading that mate? I thought we turned down the support loan. Happy to be corrected
  8. Shame we still can't compete with United's magic money tree, but I'm comfortable with how things are going. If the season started tomorrow and this was our line up (in Jim's preferred formation) then I don't think we could have too many complaints. Better balance to the defence with left-footers in there now. Shame Flynn isn't five years younger as I'd take a young Flynn and Power as a middle two every day of the week: ------------------------------ Alnwick ------------- McCarthy - Shaughnessy - Dunne -------------- -- Fraser/Tait --------- Power - Erhahon ---------- Tanser -------------------------- McGrath/Kiltie -------------------------- Brophy - Main Edit: Power confirmed
  9. 1. Rangers 2. Celtic 3. Hibs 4. St Johnstone 5. Aberdeen 6. Hearts 7. St Mirren 8. Motherwell 9. Dundee United 10. Livingston 11. Dundee 12. Ross County Can't see Celtic getting their act together enough to properly challenge Rangers, who I think will win comfortably again, but there will be a gulf to Hibs in third. I think St Johnstone will be strong this year. I'd have put them lower if I thought they were going to stick in Europe for a long time, but the fact it's a knockout should give them breathing space to concentrate on the league. And I think they'll do well. Aberdeen will be incredibly meh all season but sheer spending power will give them a default fifth position. I expect Glass to be under pressure from January at the very latest. I think Hearts will come back strong and will edge us for the top six. As with last season, I think there will be a very tight mini-league between us, Well and United. All clear of the drop with little to play for by the time March rolls around. Very wary of putting Livi as low as I have done, for obvious reasons, but their form absolutely tanked once they knew they were in the top half. I know that was linked to a tougher run of fixtures, but it can be hard to come back from that kind of slide. I was impressed with Dundee against Killie, but they'll need to invest. I assume they'll do that. I think it's County's turn to drop this year, but I think the relegation fight could be even closer than last season. No obvious weak candidate this time around, IMO.
  10. JDH catalysed our season when he arrived, but did f**k all else all season. Tidy player, will still improve, will probably improve United, but I won't be shedding any tears over his departure.
  11. Hmm. There has to be limited wisdom in taking players from such a disastrous squad. That said, Power is exactly the type of player we need. Like, perfect in terms of playing style. So I'm going to give this a guarded thumbs up.
  12. Google suggests average attendance at new club there is 16k+. I know that's a crude measure and doesn't take ticket costs/sponsorship into account, but as a rough guide you'd imagine they have more spending power than we do. His agent seems like the well-connected, pan-European type, and they've got to be happy with how Durmus' time has gone at Saints. I'd like to think we'd be tapping him up for more players, Brexit permitting.
  13. Ilkay Durmus has signed for Lechia Gdansk in Poland. Quite pleased he's not gone elsewhere in Scotland, tbh.
  14. You're absolutely right, of course, but the times being tight thing is crazy right now, for me, at least (though other half has been on mat leave so it could be that). I was even hovering over my SMISA DD the other day. I've been in from the start so can't bring myself to cancel, but I would certainly struggle to find the dosh for an ST this year.
  15. Leamington Spa is lovely, tbf. Milton Keynes and Northampton less so. I'm quite unconcerned about replacing Durmus and Connolly. We really don't play with wingers in Jim's preferred formation. It's nice to have the option, but I suspect Henderson will be that option. To be fair to @RandomGuy., when we were linked with MOH he did point out he wouldn't fit into our team (in the same way he doesn't really fit into theirs.) People will argue with me here - "we need wingers" - but we had a great one in Durmus and very rarely played him as a winger. So I'd imagine it'd be a tough sell to convince anyone else of serious quality to join in that position right now.
  16. That's the point I've reached. He clearly doesn't want to play for Saints. You have to assume the offer on the table is a good one: send him on his way and use the cash on someone who actually wants to be here.
